CHAPTER TWO: THE PRINCE AND THE SNAKE
In the morning, the four ponies woke up from a restful night of sleep.
"Thanks for allowing us to stay, Apple Juice." Spellhealer said.
"Y'all ah' welcome, sugar cubes." The three ponies stepped out and continued their journey to the Dragon Kingdom.
"How do we know we're there?" Spellhealer asked Spellbreaker.
"Oh gee, I don't know. Maybe we'll see dragons flying, or...or even better, OUR FATHER."
"Okay.. what if Dad isn't even there?"
"What are you going on about?"
"I mean, what if Mother just wanted us to go away-"
"She clearly said she doesn't agree with us that we should go. We had to find a way for her to agree."
"I guess." They walked, and they walked, and walked, until they saw a pony laying on the dirt pathway.
"Hey, uh...you alright?" Shyto asked.
"...water......" Shyto gave the pony some water, and smiled.
"Do you know the way to the Dragon Kingdom?" The weakened pony pointed to the west.
"Thanks!" The three ponies smiled and started walking west. An hour later, the ponies were sweating and panting.
"How much further? My hooves are killing me. I've never walked this far in a millenia!" Spellbreaker complained, wiping sweat off his dark grey forehead. Spellhealer rolled his grey and purple eyes, and glared at the red and blue eyed twin.
"I'm sure we're almost there, we have seen so far five volcanoes. And dragons love lava." Suddenly the ponies heard a loud roar, and looked up at the sky.
"Storm, why aren't you with Cosmic Blizzard?" Spellhealer asked.
"You mean your wifey?" Storm smirked.
"Yes, my wife. Why aren't you with her? Where's Sirius?" Storm sighed and rolled his golden eyes.
"Calm down, Spellhealer. Why are you all here?"
"Finding our father. Lord Skyfire." Spellbreaker growled.
"Oh, Lord Skyfire.... Skyfire..... Hmm.... Well, Lava Scales hasn't seen anypony running about here. Are you sure?" Storm asked, cocking his head.
"Could we just look?" Shyto asked.
"Be my guest, but there are no ponies here." The three ponies went to the Kingdom, and looked around, asking the dragons if they've seen anypony. They didn't.
"Where is he?" Spellhealer asked.
"Wait, let me cast a spell to find him. Does anypony have a strand of his hair or a scale from him?" Spellbreaker replied. Shyto nodded, pulling out a strand of Lord Skyfire's hair.
"Why do you- never mind. Thanks." Spellbreaker picked up the strand with his magic, a red field of glowing crystals surrounded it, and then a red beam of light was created.
"Let's go."
Later, they found no trace of Lord Skyfire. Only a trail of blood. Crimson, shiny blood.
"He's not here?!" Spellbreaker stomped his hoof hard on the bloodied grass. His dark grey fur getting stained in the crimson liquid. "My magic lied to me! What the hay?!" he yelled.
"Well, how about we follow that blood trail?" Shyto suggested.
"How about we follow the blood trail.... Ugh how pathetic! Like following a trail of blood will lead us anywhere. These are dragon lands, Shyto! They eat gems, meat, and anything they can get their claws on!" Spellbreaker shouted in fury at the young knight.
"I'm sorry, I was trying to help..."
"HELP!?" Spellbreaker casted a spell to send Shyto flying back, but Shyto blocked it with his wings.
"S-stop..that's not nice, my prince.." Shyto said. Spellhealer tackled his brother down before he could harm Shyto. Shyto's yellow and blue orbs gazed up at the prince.
"Let's not fight. We need to get moving." Shyto and Spellbreaker sighed and nodded. Spellbreaker sighing in annoyance at his brother.
While following the blood trail, an orange pony with purple and yellow hair ran from the bushes.
"HELP ME!" She screamed. Her glasses fell off and she fell into a mud puddle.
"Mare, are you okay?"
The mare grabbed her glasses and ran off, screaming.
"Well, that was nice." Spellbreaker scoffed.
"We should find out what scared her."
"Yes, I suppose.." Spellbreaker sighed and flicked his hoof forward, trying to rid his hooves of the crimson blood. The blood flew to Spellhealer and landed on his hooves and face.
"Thanks." He muttered.
"Guys before you fight, shouldn't we follow the mare's hoof prints?" Shyto asked. The twins stopped basically snarling at each other and looked at Shyto.
"Ugh..." the three ponies walked along the cracked, clay ground, following the dark brown mud prints. It led to the pony before.
"Hello, Miss. Do you need help with anything? Princes from the Breezeoak kingdom and the finest knight." Spellhealer asked the orange mare, who adjusted her glasses.
"Oh... hello," She smiled nervously. "There was this giant...t-thing that was chasing me! I fell into the mud, but I think it helped me." The mare was sitting on the dead grass.
"Helped you? How?" Asked the dark grey prince.
"Well... before, I was a blank flank. I had no cutie mark. But now..." the mare showed her flank. There on her flank was a picture of a horse shoe print made in mud.
"You got your cutie mark...by a monster?"
"Right!" She grinned.
"So uh... what's your name?" Shyto asked.
"Muddy Trench. A typical unicorn, no pony special." She waved her hoof.
"Muddy Trench...?" Spellbreaker scoffed.
"Hey be nice!" Spellhealer yelled.
"Ugh.... I hate this. Why did I have to go?" Spellbreaker walked faster along the trail and snuck through some bushes. He laid down and sighed.
"Idiots... they're all idiots...." He grumbled. He sat up quickly when he heard a snap of a branch. He looked around, shivers streaming down his spine, then a cold fear ridden in his body when a giant snake appeared behind a giant acorn tree. It hisses, showing his giant fangs. Spellbreaker gasped and backed up, his tail hitting a tree.
"S-stay back...!" He whispered in fear. The snake slithered around the area, knocking trees over, clearing the area. Spellbreaker dodged the falling trees, sweating with adrenaline and fear mixed with excitement. The snake slithered close to him, pinning him to the ground as he towered above him, mouth open, revealing his sharp, tower-height fangs dipped in poisonous venom. The snake bent down, attempting to stab his fangs into the prince of destruction, but Spellbreaker moved his head away. The snake tried again, but Spellbreaker dodged it.
"You... will not.... live." The snake hisses out, venom spraying on Spellbreaker's face.
"I-ah-" Spellbreaker groaned in pain as the giant snake stabbed his teeth into his cheek.
"Ngh...ah....." Spellbreaker tried casting a spell to escape the snake, but the poison in his cheek was draining him of his powers.
"N-no!" He struggles to move away, but the snake moves closer.
"I said.... you won't live." The snake repeats. The snake entangled his turquoise body around Spellbreaker's body, tightens his grip on the pony. Spellbreaker gasped as the air in his lungs drain. He flaps his red tipped wings, trying to thwack the snake, but he was too weak. Soon, all the powers in him supporting him was drained away, and the prince fainted, leaving the giant snake to slither away.
