Chapter 01:
Clow Reed.
The greatest magician of all time.
He foreseen the future and had prepared for it.
This so call future was occurring now, but present were two unanticipated elements - a rose and lily.
.....
"Ahhhhhhhh!!!! Ah! Ah! Ahhhhh!" Screams were released from a black wolf plush like toy. "Oh Rhode-sama, thank you for creating me, but it seems like today I am going to meet my untimely end." Tears spewed from his pearl black beady like eyes as he sobbed.
"Stop crying and screaming, Siri-kun. You're not going to die." Spoke a little girl who couldn't be more than nine years of age in a comforting tone.
"We're both going to die if you don't slow this contraption down!!!!" He exclaimed.
"This is average speed." The girl calmly noted.
In the azure blue sky of Tomoeda, Japan, a girl with shoulder length honey blonde hair that blew in the wind sat on a broomstick, the black wolf plush like toy holding tightly onto her as if his life depended on it.
"We're flying faster than that plane!!!!" He hollered, tears still streaming down his cheeks.
"Oh." The girl stopped as if suddenly realizing something.
The plane soared pass them. And even though there were those who were peering out the windows of the means of transportation, they did not see the nine year old girl or the wolf like toy, she addressed as 'Siri-kun'.
A sigh of relief escaped him, 'finally, she has come to her senses.'
"Siri-kun, when did mom say we have to be back home?" She inquired, looking down at the tower that held a clock.
"Oh, Rhode-sama? She said by one 'o' clock." He replied. "Why do you-" Before he could complete his sentence, he was interrupted by the dark haired blonde.
"-Siri-kun." She looked back at the plush, winking. "Hold on tight, I am going max."
Just as she had divulged, she did. 'It's 12:56 pm. I have four minutes.' She thought.
And with that, some people of Tomoeda heard wails and felt teardrops from an unknown source.
The two made it back with one minute and thirty-five seconds to spare.
"Rhode-sama." Sirius sobbed as he wobbly crawled on all fours, entering the apartment.
The broomstick which the blonde had in her right hand vanished with a beam of white light into the lily charm of her silver chain bracelet.
Hearing the door, open and close, a woman with golden blonde hair and garnet red eyes, who looked within her mid twenties went to the entrance and reminded. "An-chan, don't forget that now we're in Japan, you have to say, 'I'm home.' when you're back."
"I'm home." Suzana said, listening to her mother.
"Welcome home." Rhode greeted.
Rhode and Suzana Croft had just moved from Washington D.C to Tomoeda, Japan. They had arrived here 6 am on the dot by means of teleportation. Rhode had told Suzana to tour the new environment at 11:30 am and to be back by 1:00 pm.
"So, did you like it?" Quizzed Rhode.
"Nothing like Washington." Suzana replied as she walked with her mother and Sirius. The young girl suddenly stopped, narrowing her big tawny brown eyes. A serious air surrounding her being. "But I sensed something of great magical prowess slumbering, it's seal soon to be broken."
"Oh, has it peaked your interest?" Asked the blonde mother.
"Somewhat." The girl answered. She was intrigued.
"Rhode-sama!" Sirius sobbed, "An-sama tried to kill me again!!"
She patted the wolf plush like toy's head, "there, there Siri. I'm sure it wasn't that bad."
"I swear, An-sama was flying faster than a plane!" Sirius exaggeratedly disclosed.
They walked into the living and dining room area to see that nothing was set up yet, furniture magazines thrown about on the ground.
"I just couldn't decide." Rhode snapped her fingers as different sets of furniture appeared out of thin air. "And done." She turned to her daughter and her creation, snapping her fingers once more. The invisibility spell that had been on the two vanished. "Now then, I guess I should go for the style I saw in the 56th magazine." And with another snap of her fingers a simple homely living and dining room style came to be.
"I am back, Rhode-sama, An-sama." In came a red headed girl dressed in an old English frilly black and white maid's uniform of her choice with grocery bags in hand. She looked to be within the age range of seventeen through nineteen years of age. Her name was Cassidy and she was another one of Rhode's creations.
"Welcome back." The mother and daughter pair said.
"You forgot me." Sirius chimed.
Cassidy sent a cold glower to Sirius, causing him to hide behind Suzana's leg. How much the redhead desired to step on that cotton ball. "Rhode-sama, An-sama, I will prepare lunch immediately."
As all four ate after Cassidy had prepared lunch, Rhode twirled the fork which held a green lettuce leaf of the salad she was eating. She happily hummed, "I can't wait to go to start my new job, tomorrow."
"Ah, I want to beat this man up! I'll kick him Sirius style." Sirius shouted, stuffing some strawberry flavoured jello into his mouth.
"As I have said before, I will support Rhode-sama with anything she desires." Cassidy then glanced at the blonde child, "the same goes for An-sama."
Suzana smiled, "thank you Cas, but I don't even have a crush."
Yes, the reason why Rhode Croft had gotten her doctorates degrees in archaeology, history then teaching and had moved here to Tomoeda was so that she could become a professor at Towa University. She did this to become closer to the man she loved and Rhode had one goal: marriage. She didn't care how long it would take. She would make him fall for her!
"Oh, An-chan you don't have to worry about that." Rhode stated.
"Huh?" Suzana voiced, a bit confused.
Rhode chuckled, "nothing." She gently poked her daughter's right cheek from across the table. Noticing the lily charm hanging from her Suzana's silver chained bracelet, she recalled. "Oh, now that I remember, I finished making your new one." Her right index finger sent a beam of pink light into the lily shaped charm. "Try it out."
Suzana stood then commanded. "It's time to cast spells. Arise from your slumber and aid me with your power." The lily charm glowed a soft lavender hue and a purplish wand with the length of a twelve inch ruler appeared in her left hand.
"Hmm, lets see. Try this spell." And with a simple wave of her hand, golden ancient script appeared in front of Suzana.
Reading and memorizing it instantly, she directed her magical powers into the wand and chanted. "Obice Lucem."
And after those words left her mouth, a yellow light barrier formed around her.
Rhode held up her thumb, "ok. That wand is in perfect set with your current magical level power range. " She went on. "And the strength of your barrier is superb. Well you even though you can cast high level offensive spells easily, you lean more towards the defensive side. 89% for attack spells and 95% for defense spells. " She graded.
It was true Suzana leaned towards defensive spells because she had utilized them more (in a situation such as healing a wound) and with attack spells she had only used it against her mother or Cassidy when they had sparred with her.
.....
Suzana stood in the soundproof room. They were finished setting up the apartment. From the view the window granted, night was falling. She trotted pass the shelf with golden trophies and medals, sitting down in front of her piano.
Her fingers hovered over the keys.
For some reason her mind brought up the soon to be unsealed magical aura she had sensed. It didn't come from a human, more like from an item or group of items. Magical relics? But these relics weren't something just the average magician could create, even a great magician. Someone more powerful than that, someone comparable to her mother, Rhode Croft.
First her finger lightly pressed on the 'C' note, testing it. Then as if placed in a trance, her fingers elegantly danced across the keys, commencing the start of a slow melodic composition.
Her eyelids were down, her honey blonde hued eyelashes creating shadows on her face. She continued to think. Slowly a blurred image materialized inside of her mind, looking like that of a book.
The musical instrument joyously sang.
It was becoming more and more defined.
Her fingers came to an abrupt halt then jumped onto the next key.
Suzana Croft saw it, a book which read Clow. Clow? She felt like she heard that name before. The book twirled, then suddenly opened, releasing .... Her eyes opened as she murmured, "Clow Cards."
And the song came to an end.
Suzana slightly jumped once she heard claps. "Mom?"
"Amazing." Rhode praised, "I guessing you made that song up on the spot." Then she smiled, her garnet red eyes narrowing, "but for you to play like this, you were probably thinking hardly about something." She winked, questioning. "Probably about that presence you felt?"
"Clow." Suzana stated, "that was the name I saw on a book. Then cards that somewhat resemble tarot cards came from that very book. Called Clow Cards."
"Hmm, Clow? Clow Cards?" Rhode happily hummed, asking playfully. "They were probably created by a boy who's name I heard was Clow Reed while I was in seclusion." She took a seat next to her daughter, "he later became known as the greatest magician of all time."
Suzana gazed at her mother, repeating. "Greatest magician of all time?"
"Yup." Rhode answered, nodding her head. "As expected of the greatest magician of all time magical relics to pique my daughter's interest." She gently poked Suzana's cheek. "But now, I'm somewhat jealous because only the magical items I created interested you." The mother over-exaggeratedly sighed, placing her hand on her cheek. "Well, when the seal is broken make sure to get a good look at them and how they work, okay?" The sorceress stood.
"Mom." Suzana called.
"Hmmm?" She hummed.
Did she move them to Tomoeda because of the Clow Cards? But her mother was heads over heels in love. There was no way she was fabricating her feelings. The existence of the Clow Cards was a coincidence. Probably.
"Oh!" Rhode suddenly snapped her finger. "Now, I remember why I came here to find you."
It suddenly starting raining magazines that highlighted the newest trending clothes. "An-chan, help me pick out an outfit for tomorrow, please! Oh, accessories and shoes to match!" Then Rhode placed her finger on her chin, "oh, I should summon up some magazines on hairstyles as well!"
It rained magazines once again.
"Come on An-chan. Help mommy, please."
Hope you enjoyed!
