Chapter 20 The Mist
Don't you just love how Tony Stark is the most visible besides Thor? Tony is literally the first person you see. But then you see the amazing Captain America in the background and you just have to like this picture. (Please note I do not have a crush on him, that's for Cisco)
And for all you other people who are wanting to see that movie the instant it comes out. :) Live long and prosper.

Barry groaned, instantly getting my attention. I looked up from my tablet and put a hand on his right arm.
He turned his head and squinted at me. "Hey Sparky." He coughed, closing his eyes and wincing. "Ow."
"The Flash lives!" Cisco called from the doorway.
I looked up as he walked toward us. "Hi Cisco."
"Dr. Wells and Caitlin will be here soon," Cisco said. He looked down at Barry. "How you feeling man?"
Barry coughed again and gave Cisco a small smile. "My chest feels like that one time I had a cigarette."
I slapped my forehead and Cisco looked shocked. Barry laughed. "Teen me lived for danger."
"We should probably tell Joe what we discovered," I said with a yawn.
Barry suddenly burst out laughing. "Nice shirt sis."
I looked down at my shirt. It was a bright green sweatshirt that read, 'We fight the undeclared war. Cyber Warfare Specialist'. I grinned. "Why thank you. You might want to change before we go find Joe though."
"Great." Barry sat up slowly and shook his head. "I'll meet you there."
I nodded and grabbed my black leather bag, slipping my tablet into the outside pocket. I swung it over my shoulder. I thought back to my travels with Bucky and Steve. This bag had always been close to me. The original tablet was long gone somewhere in Siberia, but I'd replaced it several times, meaning that I now had four tablets rather than two.
I walked at non-superhuman speed toward the station. Most of the people I passed were focused on their phones. There was one person however, who kept glancing up and down the streets then back at his phone.
He adjusted his black baseball cap and pulled the left sleeve of his long brown leather jacket down a bit. He was under-dressed for the frigid weather, but he leaned casually against the wall. The cold not seeming to bother him at all. I smirked and pulled out my phone. I stopped walking and quickly hacked his phone, opening up the texting program and typing, Is this Aiden Pearce? Oh my goodness! I'm a huge fan.
Aiden started typing quickly on his phone. I couldn't see anything he did, but I guessed he was either kicking me out or trying to hack my phone. He wouldn't have much luck if he was trying the second option.
I resumed walking toward the station, which was now within sight. I wasn't the slightest bit surprised when someone grabbed my arm.
I turned my head to look at Aiden. "Hello my friend. I'm in something of a hurry just now."
Aiden raised an eyebrow. "That wasn't the case when you hacked around all my barriers just now."
"You had barriers? Huh that's odd. I didn't hit any of them."
Aiden snorted. "I had almost noticed. What have you been up to?"
"I'm sorry Aiden," I said. "I would hang around and tell you all about it, but I really am in a hurry so I'll catch you later." I smirked when he rolled his eyes at me.
Without another word, and before Aiden could object, I jogged toward the station. I heard a small pop and looked up to see that the lights on the lampposts had turned on. With another pop, they went out. I glanced back at Aiden and he saluted. He pulled up a scarf to cover the lower half of his face and dashed off into the crowd.
I pushed the door open and walked up the stairs to Barry's lab. I walked in without knocking and found Barry and Joe talking.
Joe jumped a little when I walked in, but Barry didn't react at all.
"-out who it is," Barry continued, as if I hadn't even entered. "She's probably making an antidote too. I can't imagine her letting Skye and I go after him without one. Oh hey Sparky."
I rolled my eyes at him and grinned. "Took you long enough to notice me," I teased. I picked up a pile of papers from a chair and placed them on his desk.
"Hey! I just got those sorted out!" Barry said, snatching up the papers and looking around for a clear space to set them on.
"They're still sorted exactly the same way unless my touch made them magically rearrange themselves."
Barry swept a hand across a section of his desk. Pens, rubber band balls, and sheets of notes fell to the floor. Barry set the stack of paper down on the newly cleared desk and stepped back, slipping on a rubber band ball.
My phone buzzed. I sighed and looked down at it. It was Cisco letting me know that Caitlin and Dr. Wells were now at S.T.A.R. Labs and had some stuff I should know.
"I swear Cisco," I whispered. "You have the worse timing."
"What?" Barry asked, looking up from picking up his pens.
"Cisco wants us at S.T.A.R.," I explained. "He said they've got some stuff we should know. Can you come now or you need me to Skype you so you can hear it?"
Barry looked over at Joe, who shook his head and left. Barry huffed and gave me a weird look. "You'll have to Skype me."
"Okay. See you later at whatever time your shift ends," I said.
I shot out the door at super speed. I realized after I was almost to S.T.A.R. Labs that it probably wasn't a good idea to run full speed in the police department. I might get caught that way especially since-
CRACK!
I screeched in pain and fell onto the pavement. I rolled to absorb the impact and prevent my clothes from ripping. When I stopped myself, I looked over to see what I'd hit.
I'd run right through the chain link fence. There was a large hole where I'd crashed through. I groaned and lay flat on the warm pavement. I could feel myself healing, but that didn't stop the stinging pain. I noticed my shirt had a couple of small holes, which was amazing. It should have been totally shredded by the fence. Apparently it didn't have time to hook onto the metal.
"Oh my gosh Skye!" Caitlin was running toward me. "Are you alright? Cisco saw you crash on the cameras but he's watching the antidote to make sure it doesn't get messed up."
"I'm fine. I think I may have bruised my pride though." I grinned at her. "Nothing serious. Pride can be mended."
Caitlin relaxed and smiled a bit. "That's good. Come on. Cisco said you were taking too long."
The instant we got inside I propped my tablet up and called Barry. He answered almost instantly. "That took longer. What did you do?"
"I crashed into the fence," I said. Barry opened his mouth but I gave him a pointed glare. "Don't ask."
He put his hands up. "Okay, okay. Question withheld but-"
"Shut up. Do you have a good view from here?"
Barry nodded and craned his neck. "What's Cisco doing?"
I turned up the volume on my tablet and ignored Barry's question. "So what do we need to know?" I asked. I didn't have to look to know that Barry was rolling his eyes at me. I have a sixth sense when it comes to things like that, but only with Barry.
"First, you should tell us what happened Barry," Dr. Wells said, driving around the desk so Barry could see him better. "Did he create the gas? Give you a shot? A drink?"
"He became the poison," Barry said. "Like a... a... cloud of green fog."
"So this mist is-" Cisco's face lit up and he looked up from the beaker he was holding. "The Mist! Okay, that's his name. End of discussion."
"Cisco what on Earth are you doing?" Barry asked, leaning toward his computer and squinting.
"Making the antidote for The Mist's poison," Cisco said. He swirled the beaker and started pouring it into a syringe.
"So he is the poison," Dr. Wells said. He tilted his head. "That would explain the other part of what we need to tell you. The sample Caitlin took contained a man's DNA in it. It belongs to Kyle Nimbus." A picture of a bald guy that kind of reminded me of Voldemort from the Harry Potter movies. Only this guy had a nose. "I won't go into details for your sake, Skye. I know you don't care about your enemy's past."
"Thank you," I said.
"So we hunt him down tonight?" Barry asked.
Before anyone could say anything the doors to the Cortex opened. "Yes, and we're helping. You can't tell us not to."
I looked over. Aiden stood in the doorway with a smirk on his face and Buck behind him. "Just in time I see?" Aiden asked, looking very pleased with himself.
I ignored Aiden's question, instead looking at Buck. "Does Steve know you're here?"
Buck smiled. "Yes he does. He told me to help you out for a while."
I felt myself grin. "Well I certainly won't turn it down."
Cisco looked at Buck's metal arm. "Neither will I. Skye built your arm didn't she?"
I sighed and slapped my forehead. Buck turned his gaze to Cisco. "Yes. She did. You're going to ask me more questions aren't you?"
Cisco just grinned and waved Buck over to where he stood.
Dr. Wells studied Aiden. "A pleasure Mr. Pearce-"
"Aiden," Aiden corrected. "Only the members of DedSec, with the exception of Skye, call me that."
Dr. Wells frowned, but nodded. "Right then. Aiden it is."
I picked up my tablet and looked at Barry. "I think the important stuff is over," I said quietly.
"Yep. Seems like it. See you tonight." Barry waved and hung up.
I turned my tablet off and set it down on my desk. I sat down and started using the city's security cameras to try finding The Mist.
An ice cold hand landed on my shoulder. Without looking up I said, "Leave me alone for a bit Bucky."
"I wanted to give you a real present," he whispered in my ear.
I looked up at him and he gave me a nervous smile. "Can it wait until tomorrow?" I asked.
Bucky nodded. "Of course. Meet me at Jitters tomorrow morning okay?"
I smiled. "Got it."
