CHAPTER SEVENTY NINE

Season 4, Episode 13:  Diva

Ownership of Glee:  FOX, Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, Brad Falchuk

Violet smiles from her seat next to Charlie as Finn writes one word on the board:  DIVA.

"Diva. So, now that we're back in the game, we've got to come strong. Diva Week is all about finding your inner powerhouse. Miss Pillsbury." Finn says and lets Emma take her turn to talk.

Emma nods. "That's right. The Online Urban Dictionary defines a diva as 'a fierce, often temperamental singer who comes correct. She is not a trick-ass ho and she does not sweat da haterz.'"

Jake sighs. "Great, so I guess the guys are screwed this week."

Blaine scoffs. "Um... Guys can be divas."

Emma nods. "That's right, we all have inner divas. I myself have been considered quite a diva at many a local restaurant because I know what I want and I will send a dish back."

"You all might as well just quit while you're ahead because there are only two ways to spell Unique, and one of them is. D-I-V-A... Diva. M'kay? Shanté, I stay, and it will be brought, dished out, and served and mopped up by the time you even pick out a wig. Looking at you, clocking that sadness." Unique states.

"I have more diva in my little finger than you have in your whole angry inch, Wade-Unique." Tina challenges.

"Tina, you've kind of been talking some ridiculous trash for months, unchallenged, and that stops now." Marley says.

"I'm a contender for diva week. I mean... I am the sister of Glee club's second biggest diva:  Rachel Berry. And I'm marrying the glee club's biggest diva:  Kurt Hummel." Violet notes.

"Listen, guys can be divas." Blaine reiterates.

Brittany smiles. "You guys, I'm going to win Diva Week. And do you know how I know that? It's because..."

Violet, Blaine, Tina, Brittany and Unique perform Beyoncé's 'Diva.'

As they perform on the auditorium stage, they're all dressed in different diva outfits.

The performance ends, and it turns out it was more of a fantasy than anything.

"And that is how I made the manager cry at the Cheesecake Factory... by being a diva. Yay, divas." Emma finishes.

Blaine sneezes and Tina presents him with something.

"Here, I put together a little cold buster kit for you." Tina says.

Blains smiles. "Cool, uh, how did you know?"

"Your nose was red yesterday. Start off with cough drops, then two packs of vitamin C, a cup of my homemade Chinese chicken soup, and finish with my secret weapon... nighttime cold medicine." Tina instructs.

Blaine talks with a nasally voice. "Aw, thank you. I really appreciate this. It's gonna have me feeling better in no time, except for maybe the nighttime cold medicine."

"Why? It's amazing." Tina tells.

Blaine shrugs. "Just makes me really sleepy and woozy, which is something I can't afford to be right now, not with Diva Week in full swing. I want to be able to prove that men can be divas, too, which is why I'm gonna give them a full dose of some Freddie Mercury... just to show how the boys can really bring some diva attitude." He explains.

Tina smiles. "Mr. Anderson, you find new ways to inspire me every day."

Blaine smiles gratefully. "Aw. Thanks, Tina."

Blaine performs Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now,' which Violet will admit is an incredible performance!

[Don't Stop Me Now by Blaine]

The glee club cheers for his song choice.

"They say that true divas aren't really mortal. They're more like the Loch Ness Monster or, or Smeagol." Finn explains the next day.

Emma nods. "Divas walk... and they talk and they breathe brilliance, so here to demonstrate that elusive brilliance is a very special guest diva."

"Raven-Symoné." Brittany guesses.

"Oh my god, it's Mercedes isn't it?" Violet guesses.

Finn smirks. "All the way from Louisville, give it up for Miss Santana Lopez."

Santana and the Louisville Cardinals perform Ike and Tina Turner's 'Nutbush City Limits.'

[Nutbush City Limits by Santana]

Violet cheers the loudest for Santana.

"That's my friend!"

"Santana, that was simply the greatest moment in show business history. But how come you didn't tell me you were coming to town?" Brittany asks her ex-girlfriend.

"You know, I think that the better question is, why didn't you tell me that you were dating Sam? I had just left a comment on my favourite "Rizzoli & Isles" lesbian subtext blog when I heard the news. Oh, and before I forget, allow me to introduce my backup, and my girlfriend, Elaine. And by girlfriend, I mean out and proud, lipstick-loving, AfterEllen-reading girlfriend." Santana says before pecking Elaine's lips.

Violet walks up to Santana and hugs her. "That was so good."

Violet decides to perform the next day, but she isn't singing. She decides to show off her inner diva by dancing to TLC's 'Waterfalls' in the auditorium.

While watching the girl dance, everyone has different reactions.

Artie, Blaine, Sam and Charlie are dancing in their spots while they watch.

Tina just watches with her arms crossed over her chest.

Ryder, Jake, Marley, Kitty and Unique look at their friend in shock. She could really dance!

Brittany, Finn and Emma are watching with pride at her ability to dance. Those three know how undoubtedly talented Violet is.

At the end of Violet's routine, she has everyone cheering for her... except for Tina.

"Yes! That's the true power of a diva! You don't always need to rely on your voice; you can be a diva through dance. Excellent work Violet." Finn praises.

Violet smiles from her place onstage, curtsying.

She doesn't miss Tina's sour expression.

Violet walks next to Tina, who's giving her the silent treatment.

"Tina, are you seriously not going to talk to me?" Violet asks. Tina still doesn't answer.

"Hey! Tina, I don't know if you've noticed, but you're being a bit of a bitch this week. And now you're not talking to me. What did I do to make you stop talking to me?" Violet asks, hurt that her friend would act this way.

"You're a star, Violet. You've always been a star from the beginning of glee club. You were an even bigger star than Rachel. You sing like an angel, you dance so gracefully, and you're going to marry Kurt in the summer! Not all of us can have those happy endings." Tina seethes.

Violet looks at her in shock. "So just talk to me about how you feel Tina. But don't give me the silent treatment. That's uncalled for and really rude. I thought you were better than that."

Tina walks away, leaving Violet alone in the hallway.

Does she really come off as privileged? Or does Tina have resentment for her because Violet is Rachel's sister?

In the courtyard during lunch, Tina performs Madonna's 'Hung Up.'

[Hung Up by Tina]

Though Violet is still a little upset at Tina from earlier, she cheers for her friend.

"Tina. Wow." Emma says.

"I just... I can't even... That was the most..." Finn can't form words.

Tina shrugs. "Don't even worry about it." She says and walks off.

Finn laughs. "Okay. Feel that fire."

The next day, Emma and Finn announce the winner of Diva Week.

"Winning dinner for two at Red Rooster Express Suites... The First Annual William McKinley High School Diva Award goes to..." Finn trails off as he performs a drum roll.

"If it's Santana, I swear..." Tina trails off.

Emma and Finn smile. "Tina Cohen-Chang!"

Violet stands up and cheers for Tina winning Diva Week.

"She never wins anything." Brittany points out.

"Go Tina!" Violet cheers.

Tina and Violet lock eyes for a second, and they smile at each other.

Friends are friends, no matter what the drama.

Violet is walking down the hallway when Tina walks up to her. "Violet... can I please talk to you?" Tina asks.

Violet nods as Tina moves to stand in front of her.

"I'm really sorry for how I acted towards you. I should've been a better friend and teammate. I was just... slightly jealous of you because you can show off your inner diva with no problem whatsoever. I guess you could say I aspire to be talented like you." Tina admits.

Violet smiles and hugs Tina. "It's okay Tina. I forgive you. Although, please just come and talk to me next time you feel jealous so we can talk it out."

"Deal." Tina says. "So are you excited for Mr. Shue's wedding next week?"

Violet nods. "Yes I am. This has been a long time coming for him and Ms. Pillsbury. Kurt and I are going together. Hey, do you have a date for the wedding? I think Ryder's available."

Tina chuckles. "I actually do have a date for the wedding."

"Please don't tell me it's Mike. Going with your ex as friends is one thing, but you should never be your ex's date to your teacher's wedding. That's, like, a guaranteed way to resentment and hate." Violet warns.

Tina laughs. "It's not Mike."

Violet sighs in relief. "Thank God. Well then... who's your date?"

Tina smiles dreamily. "It's Blaine."

Violet pales as Tina walks down the hall. "Uh oh."
