Will smiles as he looks at his students. "Okay, everybody, let's hear it for love! Your assignment for Valentine's week is to find and perform the world's greatest love songs. Now, Regionals is next week, and we still need to raise $250 for costumes and hair spray." He says.

"Oh, God, not another bake sale." Kurt groans.

"If any student gives ten dollars, we will sing these "world's greatest love songs" to their Valentine. We will serenade each classroom..." Will continues.

"No!" New Directions shoot it down.

"Yes!" Will encourages.

"Two years ago, we went room-to-room Christmas caroling, they threw food." Charlie reminisces.

"And shoes." Puck adds.

Sugar raises her hand. "Yes, Sugar?" Will asks.

"Here's a spoonful of Sugar for you all: Don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff when you're rich. So, here you go." Sugar says, handing Will $250.

"Uh, Sugar, I can't take that." Will declines.

"Take it!" Kurt and Violet say.

"Okay. Everyone, give it up for Sugar for paying for our FinalNet and cumberbunds!" Will says.

The New Directions cheer happily that they don't have to raise the money.

"I love the sound of applause, even if I have to buy it. Okay, everyone, look under your chairs. Except you, Artie. Your chair kept moving, so I hid your surprise in the wastebasket." Sugar says.

Puck has chocolate on his face. "I found mine ten minutes ago."

"V-Day is my fave day ever. And to help me celebrate, my daddy's throwing me a huge, ridic party at Breadstix. And I'm naming it the Sugar Shack. And... drumroll, Rachel... you're all invited! But you have to bring a date. No single people allowed. They're sad and boring and they don't exist in my world." Sugar says.

"Um, but you're single." Violet points out.

Sugar smirks. "Not for long."

I'm attending a God Squad meeting. The God Squad is a club that consists of me, Mercedes, Quinn and Sam.

"I now call this meeting of the God Squad to order. Thank you guys for coming. Our first order of business is to welcome Quinn Fabray back into the fold." Mercedes says.

"It's nice to see you, Quinn." Sam says.

"Thank you. I know it's been a while. When I was at my lowest, I turned to prayer. Not even sure who I was praying to, really, but it seemed to lead me on the right track." Quinn tells us.

"Amen." I say.

"Praise." Mercedes claims.

Sam raises his hand. "Can I ask a question? What's with tarantula head over here?" He asks, motioning to a kid with dreadlocks.

Mercedes smiles. "This is our new member. This is Joseph Hart, but you guys can call him Joe. He just transferred here to McKinley."

Joe nods. "Yeah, I guess I'm a sophomore. I've been homeschooled my whole life, but this past year I realized my best friend was my mom, so I decided I wanted to get out and experience the world."

"Joseph. What's with the tats?" Sam asks.

"Bible quotes. And each one of my dreads is named after a book of the Bible." Joe says.

"You have got to be kidding me." Quinn says quietly. I nudge her gently.

"I play guitar, too, but I only know Christian stuff. My dad only listens to talk radio, and we don't have a TV. You guys mind if I take off my shoes? I'm sort of used to going to school barefoot." Joe says.

"I'm just glad there's another dude around here. I notice that Shane isn't a member of the God Squad. That's interesting." Sam says.

Oh yeah, Shane is Mercedes's boyfriend.

"Okay, that's enough, Sam." I tell him.

"All right, so our last meeting we talked about opportunities for community service. Uh, Valentine's Day's right around the corner, and since the Glee Club turned it down, there's an open slot for singing telegrams." Mercedes suggests.

"All five of us sing, and Teen Jesus and I play guitar, so I thought we could use the money to adopt a highway and start a shoe drive." Sam says.

"Praise." Mercedes says.

"It is a religious holiday... St. Valentine's and all that. And I'd love to show this school that it's cool to be Christian. We aren't all just door-to-door Bible salesmen, like my dad." Joe adds in.

"All right, all in favor?" Mercedes asks. All of our hands go up.

"Righteous." Joe says.

The next day, I see Rachel and Finn at the center of the choir room.

"Rachel, you had an announcement?" Mr. Shue asks.

Rachel nods. "Yeah, actually, Finn and I have an announcement we'd like to make." She says.

I know where this is going.

"Finn and I are proud to announce... that we're finally getting married." Rachel announces, holding up her ring-clad hand.

"What?" Tina says.

"Wow!" Brittany exclaims.

"When's the baby's due date?" Puck asks.

"Wait, guys, have you both carefully thought this through?" Mr. Shue asks.

"Yes. And our parents are totally behind us. And your plan to stop us by telling them totally backfired, Mr. Shue." Rachel says.

Kurt raises his hand. "Actually, I'm the one who told them. Because I think you guys are making a mistake. A huge mistake." He says.

"When's the wedding?" I ask.

Rachel and Finn smile. "The date is TBD, but I can assure all of you that we're gonna have a very simple and elegant ceremony at the Justice of the Peace, which all of you are invited to. And we're registered at Samuel French." Rachel explains.

"You guys aren't mature enough or old enough to properly face this type of commitment." Quinn says.

"If you don't support us, then I feel sorry for you, and you're not invited to the wedding. Which makes me really sad, because I would have loved to have seen you in a bridesmaid's dress, Quinn. And you as well, Kurt." Rachel says.

"I'd be happy to be a bridesmaid, Rachel. I'm not sure I'm ready to get married, but I do know what being in love feels like. We'll be there." Tina says for her and Mike.

"I'll be there." I say, shocking the others. "What? We can't stop them even if we tried, so we might as well show up and be supportive."

"Thanks, guys." Finn says.

"And we hope the rest of you all change your minds, because it would mean a lot to us if you were all there." Rachel says.

"Well, add me to the list of people who are wishing you guys the best in your marriage. However, let's stop the fighting and remind ourselves that Valentine's Day is rapidly approaching." Artie says.

"If you'll excuse me." Artie adds as he wheels go the center of the room.

"Yeah. Sorry." Finn says as he and Rachel go to sit down.

"Congrats, though. I got some sugary sweet game to spit. Give me a beat, Finn." He says as Finn walks over to the drums.

Artie sings Mario's 'Let Me Love You' to Sugar.

[Let Me Love You by Artie]

I clap for Artie's performance.

I see Charlie has another gift from his 'secret admirer.' I really think that it's Blaine.

Mr. Shue sighs. "Everyone, sit down, uh, listen up. Rory has the floor." He says.

Rory looks sad. "I've been trying to get my student visa extended, so I can spend junior year at McKinley, but I just found out the request was turned down. So when the school year ends, I'll have to go back to Ireland." He reveals.

"What?" Finn says.

"I miss my family so much, but you guys have become my second family. This song reminds me of you guys and... how much I've grown to love each and every single one of you, and how thankful I am that you've made a place, 3,000 miles away from Ireland, feel like home. And I asked Violet to help sing this with me because she knows the song best." Rory says.

I stand up and walk over to Rory. We're singing the Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert version of Michael Bublé's 'Home.'

[Home by Rory and Violet]

Everyone looks sad when we finish and Sugar walks up to Rory.

"Rory... I feel worse for you than I do for Artie. Will you be my date for Valentine's Day?" She asks.

Rory smiles gently. "It would be an honor."

I'm attending a God Squad meeting. I missed the singing telegram that Finn gave to Rachel, but that's not my main concern. Santana wants us to sing a song to Brittany. While Mercedes, Sam, Quinn and I are supportive of LGBTQ people, Joe might not be.

"All right, guys. We have to have a discussion and figure out what the God Squad feels about singing to gay people." Mercedes says.

"Well, four of us are in Glee Club, so we pretty much sing to gay people all the time." Sam says.

"I know we're okay with it, but Joe may not be." I state.

"I try my best not to judge anybody. But, honestly, I've never met anyone who's gay." Joe says.

"Oh, I guarantee you have." Quinn speaks.

Mercedes nods. "Yeah, they say that one out of every ten people are gay. And if that's true, that means one of the 12 apostles might have been gay. And my guess is Simon because that name's the gayest." Mercedes says.

"The Bible says it's an abomination for a man to lay down with another man, but we shared tents in Cub Scouts and slept next to each other all the time... so that would make Cub Scouts an abomination?" Sam asks.

"Do you know what else the Bible says is an abomination? Eating lobster, planting different crops in the same field, giving somebody a proud look. Not an abomination? Slavery." Quinn states.

"Jesus never said anything about gay people. That's a fact." Sam interjects.

"Well, maybe he wanted to, but he didn't want to hurt Simon's feelings." Joe tries.

Mercedes sighs. "You guys, we have to figure out where we stand. Especially, if we're gonna be asking volunteers from my church to sing backup for us. I don't want to hurt Santana's feelings, but I also don't want to make someone do something they're not comfortable with."

"So where do you stand, Joe?" Quinn asks.

Joe shrugs. "I guess I've gotta think about it."

"You know what? That's totally fair. You have to look at the hard topics and dilemmas and be honest and truthful." I explain.

Joe nods. "If you ask me... that's what being Christian is really about."

When we finish our God Squad meeting, I pull Joe to the side. "Hey. I was wondering if you'd help me sing to my boyfriend Kurt. It's more of a personal request than a God Squad request." I say.

He smiles. "Cool, that sounds like fun. What song did you have in mind?"

I smile. "I kinda wrote it myself."

That afternoon for glee club, Mr. Shue brings us to the auditorium.

"Okay. Violet, you said you had a song you wanted to sing?" He asks.

I nod from the stage. "Yes. And I asked for help from one of my fellow God Squad members, Joe." I say. Joe appears onstage with his guitar.

"This is a song I wrote for my amazing boyfriend, Kurt Hummel. I love you baby." I say before Joe starts playing his guitar.

The song is called 'You Are the Reason.'

Joe
Violet
Both

There goes my heart beating
'Cause you are the reason
I'm losing my sleep
Please come back now

And there goes my mind racing
And you are the reason
That I'm still breathing
I'm hopeless now

I'd climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I've broken
Oh, 'cause I need you to see
That you are the reason

There goes my hand shaking
And you are the reason
My heart keeps bleeding
I need you now

If I could turn back the clock
I'd make sure the light defeated the dark
I'd spend every hour of every day
Keeping you safe

And I'd climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I've broken
Oh, 'cause I need you to see
That you are the reason, oh
(I don't wanna fight no more)
(I don't wanna hurt no more)
(I don't wanna cry no more)
(Come back, I need you to hold me closer now)
You are the reason, oh
(Just a little closer now)
(Come a little closer now)
(I need you to hold me tonight)

I'd climb every mountain
And swim every ocean
Just to be with you
And fix what I've broken
'Cause I need you to see
That you are the reason

[You Are the Reason by Joe and Violet]
(All rights to this song go to Calum Scott; this is the duet version with Leona Lewis)

When we finish, I watch as everyone claps and cheers. Joe smiles at me and I smile back.

"Wow. Violet... that song was incredible." Mr. Shue states.

I smile at Kurt, who's crying from what looks like happiness. He makes his way onto the stage and doesn't say anything. He holds me close and kisses me. I kiss back as everyone cheers.

"I love you." Kurt says through his sobs.

I smile and wipe his tears away. "I love you too."

= = =

"Violet I need to talk to you." Rachel's voice tells me. I turn around at my locker to see Rachel there with a concerned look on her face.

"What's up Rachel? You look like you're about to tell me someone died." I say.

She bites her lip. "My dads and I are having Valentine's Day dinner at my house. And... Finn kinda invited you and Kurt for dinner too." Rachel reveals.

My heart plummets into my stomach. I have to face Hiram and LeRoy for the first time in a little over two years. "I don't know if I can see them again, Rachel." I tell her.

Rachel sighs. "Look I know it's not ideal, but they actually looked sad when Finn mentioned your name. I think, in some weird way, they miss you."

I roll my eyes. "No they don't. If they missed me, they would've begged me to come home. It's been a little over two years." I tell her.

"I know. Believe me, I feel awful about this, but I think it could help us both if you talked to them." Rachel insists.

I sigh. "I'll think about it." I tell her and walk off.

This is not how I want to spend Valentine's Day.

= = =

Kurt, Burt, Carole and I are having a discussion about the impending Hudson-Hummel-Berry dinner, and whether or not Kurt and I should be present.

"I don't think it's a good idea." Kurt states. "I think that you shouldn't have to be there. For God's sake, they didn't care about you for 11 years!" He rants.

"I know. But what if Rachel's right? What if I have a chance to talk to them about how I've felt my entire life? I can't pass that up." I say.

Burt sighs as he looks at Kurt and I. "In my opinion, I think that they should've tried to reach out on their own. I got a bad feeling about this dinner." He says.

"But this could give Violet some closure. It could end the chapter of pain she's been living in her whole life." Carole states.

Kurt holds my hand. "This is up to you baby. You don't have to if you don't want to." He says. "You and I can go to the Sugar Shack and we'll celebrate Valentine's Day together."

I think over everything. I exhale loudly as I make my decision.

"We'll be there for dinner. I need to do this for me. Carole's right; seeing them and talking to them might give me the closure I need."

= = =

I can't believe I actually agreed to this. I'm shaking as Kurt and I get out of his car. Here I am, at my old house, getting ready to face my ex-dads.

"I can't do this." I whisper to Kurt as we walk to the door.

Kurt kisses my cheek. "Just relax. I'll do most of the talking for you. Unless they ask you something, you don't have to talk to them." He says. I nod and my heart races as Kurt rings the doorbell.

The door opens to reveal LeRoy and Hiram Berry on the other side. I swallow the lump in my throat, trying not to cry. "Hello Mr. and Mr. Berry." Kurt says as politely as he can be.

We're given tense smiles.

= = =

When we sit down to eat, I'm sat in between Kurt and Burt, across from Rachel, Finn and Carole. LeRoy and Hiram sit at both ends of the table.

I eat some of my food, trying to make myself calm by focusing on anything other than my ex-family.

"So Kurt... how long have you and Violet been dating?" Hiram asks.

"Almost 2 years now." Kurt answers. It'll be our 2-year anniversary in two weeks.

Hiram and LeRoy look slightly impressed. "Violet, how's school been going? Are your grades good?" LeRoy asks.

I look up with a nod. "School's good. Grades are good." I answer. I turn my attention back to my plate of food.

Hiram clears his throat. "Rachel told us you um... you had a solo at Regionals." He says.

I nod. "That's right. It was my original song." I say shortly.

"She was incredible. Without her, we wouldn't have won Regionals." Finn compliments. I give him a small smile.

"How come Rachel didn't get the solo?" LeRoy asks.

I tense up. Kurt grabs my hand underneath the table, squeezing it gently.

"We all voted for which original song was going to be featured for Regionals. Violet got the majority of the votes fair and square." Rachel claims.

"But surely you wrote an even better song?" Hiram says to Rachel.

That's it. I stand up, tears in my eyes.

"Are you freaking serious right now? I thought you two wanted to try and reconcile. But no — you're still comparing me to Rachel. I came here tonight because I thought you two had changed. I was wrong. God I was so wrong. I've been happier since I stopped being your daughter. You haven't even attempted to apologize to me because you still think I'm this mistake of a human being." I rant.

"Violet — " Hiram tries. I cut him off.

"No. I'm not listening to what you have to say. I'm done with you. I'm done with both of you. Maybe I was a little naïve to think you two could change. But you made me realize I'm much better off without the two of you in my life. Hell, Burt and Carole act more like parents to me than you two ever did. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and celebrate with my real family: The New Directions. At least they accept me and love me for who I am." I say and storm out, slamming the door behind me.

I sat in Kurt's car, crying. He was right. I shouldn't have come. This was a waste of my time.

= = =

Kurt P.O.V.

Everyone's quiet after Violet storms out. I stand up. "I'm leaving too." I say.

"What's his deal?" LeRoy asks. I turn around.

"My 'deal?' I'll tell you what my 'deal' is: you made the love of my life feel bad about herself. In the 11 years I've known Violet, I knew that she was better off without you two. She practically lived with me and my dad before you threw her out. Why did you throw her out? Huh? Was she not perfect enough? Was she not as talented as Rachel?" I hiss.

"Dude calm down." Finn says.

"I will not calm down Finn. I knew coming here was a bad idea. Violet Dorothy Corcoran is the most talented, smartest, kindest, loving, selfless, and generous person I've ever met. She doesn't need you two — she has the New Directions — our glee club. We all love and support each other, no matter what. That's what family's supposed to be about." I say angrily.

The two Berry men look down in shame. "You two should be ashamed of yourselves. Now I'm going to go spend Valentine's Day with my girlfriend and our friends. Finn, Rachel, you're more than welcome to join us at Breadstix." I tell them before I walk out of the house.

I get into the driver's seat of my car, and I pull out a handkerchief for Violet. "Here baby." I tell her gently. She takes it gratefully and wipes away the smudged mascara off of her face.

"I'm so sorry honey. They shouldn't have treated you like that." I tell her. She looks up at me with her big green eyes.

"No it's not your fault. Guess they'll never change. Besides, I don't need them. I have you, Finn, Rachel, Burt, Carole and the rest of New Directions. You guys are my real family." Violet says, a smile forming on her face.

I smile gently and kiss her lips. She kisses back and when we pull away, we're both smiling. "Let's go down to Breadstix for Sugar's party." I tell her.

She nods and we buckle up. I back out of the driveway and we're off to Breadstix.

= = =

Charlie P.O.V.

"FYI, we got a private party here tonight, hon." A waitress at Breadstix tells me.

I smile. "Oh, I know, I know, I'm, I'm early. Well, according to this, I'm, I'm early. I'm supposed to be meeting my cutie here for a long overdue reunion, but I, uh, I guess he didn't make it." I say, feeling a bit sad that Blaine hasn't shown up yet.

"Wouldn't be too sure about that." The waitress says. I look up to see the same gorilla I saw a few days ago.

"I knew it! Oh, See's candies! 'Dear Charlie, Happy Valentine's Day. I think I love you.'" I read the card. I scratch my head in confusion.

"Wait. You think you love me?" I ask.

The head of the gorilla costume comes off, and it's not Blaine.

"Karofsky." I say.

"So, you tormented my friends, shoved Kurt into lockers, called him horrible names and now, after one conversation in a bar, you want us to be together?" I ask.

"When I was at McKinley, I hated who I was. I've wanted to call you since that night at Scandals, and, look, it's taken me a while, but for the first time in my life, I'm trying to be honest about what I feel." Karofsky says.

"And I'm flattered, I... I-I really am, but David, you just think that you love me. You don't really love me." I tell him.

"I haven't come out at school yet, but maybe I will next year." Karofsky states.

I sigh. "David, look, Kurt and I are so proud of you for... for coming so far. And I want you to be happy and... and you will be happy, but I'm with Blaine. A-And... I like you. But just as friends." I tell him.

Karofsky sighs. "I should go."

"Wait. No, you don't have to go." I tell him.

"I hope you like the candies. The butterscotch ones are my favorite." He says sadly.

"Mine, too." I tell him.

I watch him walk off heartbrokenly.

Violet P.O.V.

Kurt and I are at Breadstix, attending Sugar's party. I'm getting ready to go onstage with the God Squad.

Sugar's testing out the microphone. "Testing. Testing. Testing. Testing. What up, McKinley?! Welcome to the Sugar Shack!" She says.

We all cheer.

"Okay. Everyone look under your chairs, except you, Artie. Yours is in the potted plant right behind you. Attached to a Hickory Hills Cheese Heart are gift certificates worth $200 each for Bed, Bath and Beyond, Panda Express, and Lima Mall Swatch Watch kiosk!" Sugar says.

Wow. She's being really generous to everyone.

Sugar smiles. "I would like to thank my daddy for making tonight possible. He is not in the Mafia. And next up, straight from heaven above, give it up for the God Squad!" She introduces.

We all get up onstage.

"Hi. My name's Joe. Santana Lopez asked me if the God Squad would sing a love song for Brittany S. Pierce. And after thinking and praying about it, I knew there was only one right answer. Absolutely. Love is love, man. So, here's for Brittany from Santana." Joe says.

All of us in the God Squad sing 'Cherish' to Brittany.

[Cherish by The God Squad]

We get applause for our performance.

Sugar smiles as she comes up onstage when we finish. "Okay, everyone, it's time for my extra-special guest, back from the dead, and cute and compact as ever!" She says.

A spotlight shines on Blaine, and all of us in New Directions go crazy. Charlie finds himself speechless and smiling.

"Happy Valentine's Day, everybody! This song is dedicated to all the lovers in the room." Blaine says.

Mercedes, Rachel, Sam, Kurt, Brittany and I are onstage, ready to sing 'Love Shack' with Blaine.

[Love Shack by Mercedes, Brittany, Charlie, Blaine, Rachel, Violet, Sam and Kurt]

Charlie joins in after Blaine encourages him to.

We're just having a blast together as one big, happy family.

This turned out to be the best Valentine's Day ever!
