Chapter 8 - A Drive Home

Error's POV

I drove Ink's car home after thanking the police. Ink sat in the passenger car with a half bottle of wine sitting on his lap.

My mind went to the previous events of this night. I was reliving the fear of not knowing where Ink was. This made me quietly sigh a breath of calm. I hate being without Ink and he uses me for mental support.

'Ink's always had such a difficult time with new people. However, he didn't have problems making friends with that one cat guy.'

For some strange reason, a small tinge of an unknown emotion grew inside of my chest. This made my hands clench around the steering wheel but they eventually loosened up.

I glanced at Ink for a split second. He was looking out the window, watching the streets lights quickly past by. He was silent and his brown scarf was covering part of his face. I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable with the silence between us.

Me: Ink.

My best friend looked at me. I could see that Ink was tired. Possibly it was because of the wine or the fact that it was the middle of the night.

We pulled up to a red light, giving me a small minute to talk with Ink.

Me: Why didn't you tell me that you left?

Ink hesitated before lifting his hands to speak.

Ink: "You seemed to be having fun with Martina so I didn't want to interrupt. So I just left."

I nodded but then realized something.

'Wait, Ink never drinks alcohol unless something is wrong.'

Me: Then why do you have a wine bottle? Something is wrong because you never consume alcohol... unless you're upset.

That was what made Ink go completely speechless. There was a worried expression on his face. I stared at him, patiently waiting for his response. Ink looked away, refusing to answer my question. I sighed as I moved my gaze back to the front.

Me: If there's something going on, you can just tell me. You know that right? Ink?

I saw Ink nod in the corner of my eyesight.

(Time Skip)

As soon as we entered our dorm, Ink went straight to his bed. He set the bottle on his nightstand before laying down. I stood at the doorway for a second when I closed the door.

Ink has been acting different lately and I'm concerned about him. He won't tell me anything but I know there's something upsetting him.

'Why won't he tell me?'

I rested myself on my bed and stared at the ceiling. Thoughts rushed through my mind while Ink drew on his bed.

I turned my head towards him, noticing that he was asleep. He was in a sitting position with his opened sketchbook on his lap.

Standing up, I walked over to him. I gently took the sketchbook and closed it before putting on his desk.

Me: Ink.

I whispered as I lightly nudged him. Ink's rainbow eyes opened and stared at me with a heavy layer of tiredness.

Me: Lay down and go to bed.

Ink nodded, pulling the covers his body once his was comfortable.

I smiled and gave him a hug. Ink hummed, shifting to hug me back. I let go and went back to my own bed.

The covers were soft and warm however, I couldn't find the urge to sleep. I shifted to stare at Ink. He was comfortably sleeping and I felt almost calmed from his peaceful expression.

There was a light layer of rainbow blush on Ink's cheeks, which made a smile appear on my lips. I always liked seeing Ink happy.

I didn't know how long I had stayed still, quietly watching Ink from across the room. However I enjoyed it the entire time. Something about this just felt right to me but I didn't know why.

It seemed that Ink had helped with my sleep problem as I began to close my eyes.

'Tomorrow...

I'll hang out with Ink
