Chapter 14 - Walking Out
There is Spanish speaking in this chapter. Some of the Spanish dialogue may be wrong as I don't fluently speak the language. However, I will provide English translations for what I am trying to have the characters say.
Error's POV
I talked with Martina however, there was a sickening feeling in my stomach. I checked my phone quickly as I wondered what time it was.
I noticed that it had been around ten minutes since Ink went to the restroom. I glanced in that direction, hoping that Ink would eventually come out.
Suddenly, I felt a skinned hand on mine. Looking forward, I saw that Martina was rubbing her thumb against the top of my hand.
Martina: ¿Está todo bien?
(Is everything fine?)
Me: No. Ink no ha regresado del baño.
(No. Ink hasn't returned from the restroom.)
I stood up from the table however Martina kept a hold of my hand.
Martina: Él probablemente está bien.
(He's probably fine.)
I pulled my hand away from her before walking away from the table, leaving my possessions.
Walking to the restroom, I began to feel worried. I stood in front of the door. Then I lightly knocked on it with the knuckle of my index finger.
Me: Ink?
Nothing happened. I swallowed as thoughts of the worst entered my mind.
My hand gripped the handle and pulled it. My eyes widened when I saw that the door was unlocked.
'Ay no.'
(Uh no.)
Ink wasn't in the restroom. That's when I finally realized something that was deep within my soul.
I tried to hold back tears of fear. I rushed over to the person that stood next to the door.
Me: Have you seen a guy with a black suit and brown scarf?
Man: Yes actually. He walked out a few minutes ago and walked down the sidewalk.
I tried to smile as I thanked him.
Rushing to the table. I began to grab my things.
Martina: ¿Adónde vas?
(Where are you going?)
Me: Yo necesito ir. Ink no está aquí.
(I need to go. Ink isn't here.)
I said through worry.
Martina: Espera.
(Wait.)
I didn't respond to her as I left the building. I started to run down the sidewalk. I had to catch up to Ink.
As I ran, I saw Ink in the distance. He was walking with his head facing the ground. I yelled to him.
Me: Ink! Espera por favor! Tengo algo necesito decir!
(Ink! Wait please! I have something I need to say!)
Ink turned around. I smiled but stopped when I saw that Ink was crying.
Me: "What's wrong?"
Ink: "You and Martina were on a date. I didn't want to be interrupting it."
I dropped my hands. I began to speak.
Me: No, Ink. I realized something.
Ink looked at me curiously.
Me: Yo... yo nunca quería a Martina.
(I... I never loved Martina.)
He didn't respond as he was surprised.
Me: I can't see her as my girlfriend. Lo siento. I never wanted to make you feel left out.
Ink looked down at the ground. There was silence between us.
Suddenly, Ink hugged me. I immediately returned the hug.
We pulled away and stared at each other for what felt like eternity. I smiled.
Me: Let's go home.
Ink smiled and nodded. Then we walked back to Ink's car.
(Time Skip)
We sat on the floor while eating instant noodles.
Our suit jackets were thrown on the floor while our shoes were next to the door.
I could tell that Ink enjoyed this atmosphere compared to being out in public.
Ink and I relived old memories from high school.
Me: Remember when Taylor fell through the roof because he climbed into the panels.
Ink nodded before silently giggling.
Me: I miss that dude. He was the most chaotic human I knew.
Ink: "Shame he went to join the military. I really liked him."
We laughed and talked for a while. I could proudly say that I never regretted...
Walking out on Martina
