Chapter 10 - An Invitation
Ink's POV
Error and I walked out of the museum. I had a pleasant time admiring the work of talented artists. They spend hours on sculptures and paintings, which lead to them being recognized for their hard work.
As we walked down the street, I looked around at my surroundings. The sky had grown cloudy and there a certain humidity in the air. I knew that it was fixing to rain however, I didn't have an umbrella.
The first few drops of water began to fall and I used my hand to shield my face. Error, however, unzipped his jacket and held it over us. I looked at him and he smiled back. I turned away when my cheeks were covered by rainbow blush.
We rushed towards my car. I unlocked it and we quickly got in.
Error folded his wet jacket and placed it in the back seat. I started the car before pulling out of the parking lot.
The car ride was silent. There was a reason to it. I had to drive so I couldn't use my hands to speak. Being mute has some downfalls.
As we drove home, Error suddenly got a call. He picked up and began talking.
Error: Hello?
I listened to his conversation while driving the car.
Error: Hola Martina. ¿Cómo está?
I instantly grimaced when I heard the name of the caller. I understood most of the Spanish language because of Error but, I never knew that she could speak it as well.
The entire drive home, Error talked with Martina. It was absolute torture for me.
Eventually, he hung up and I could feel myself sigh a relief filled exhale. He turned to me before speaking.
Error: Ink. Martina invited us to go to the theater with her and her female friend. The movie is tomorrow.
I nodded, unable to respond back.
Beyond this point, I was used to the sadness that I got every time I realized that Error was still straight.
(The Next Day)
I placed my wallet in my back pocket and sat next to Error on the stairs. We waited for Martina an her friend to arrive.
The theater was quite busy, people were walking in and out. The smell of popcorn was in the air which honestly made me slightly hungry.
Two girls walked up the stairs and we recognized one of them. Martina was dressed in a short pair of shorts and a pink crop top. Her brown curly hair was pulled back into a ponytail and she carried a small handbag.
Her friend was dressed similarly and I could tell that she was a lesbian. I normally could pick out someone that was gay. Other times, I couldn't tell in the slightest.
Error stood up and the girls ran up to him. I stayed in a sitting position on the stair step.
Martina wrapped her arms around Error. I turned my head, attempting to hide my dislike for her.
Martina: Great to see that you guys joined us.
Error: Well, we're college students. We have nothing better to do.
They laughed but I stayed silent. Error noticed but didn't say anything.
Martina: Now we're just waiting for one more person.
I lifted my head with a curious expression. Error saw it and translated my thoughts to them.
Error: Ink wonders why there's another person. You didn't say anything about that.
Martina: It was last minute.
Suddenly, a voice interrupted. Looking towards the voice, I saw a nice white British cat. A smile appeared on my face. It was Taryn.
I stood up and greeted him. His ears perked up and his tailed swished happily.
Turning around, I saw that Error had a death glare. If looks could kill, Taryn would be destroyed ten times over.
Error: Is this who we were waiting for?
He slightly growled as he spoke with Martina. She nodded and his dislike filled expression grew more intense. Error walked down the stairs and stopped next to me. I felt him place a hand on my back. Rainbow blush appeared on my cheeks from the physical contact.
Error: I didn't know you would be here.
He said with a strained smile. It was like he was trying to hold back uncontrollable anger...
What's gotten into him?
