Chapter 18
Andy and Natasha had been sitting in silence while they thought the other was asleep. They didn't realize that neither one of them could actually sleep.
Andy was thinking about Bruce, Alex, and Clint. Her mind had been racing the entire time she's been out and running towards her problem instead of away like she had been for years.
Bruce, the one that understood what it was like to be her, he's gone and might be dead. He's missing, because of her.
Alex, she was her friend. Andy and Alex were always training together and Andy had to admit that Alex was good but she always missed something. The motivation to go for the kill. Andy would get very close to killing her opponent. When they tapped out is when she stopped. At the last moment, she would let go. She did that because she was afraid they would kill her if she didn't. It was like Alex didn't care what happened to her, so she had no motivation.
Clint, Andy kept replaying what she said to him before she left. She missed him. The time she woke up in his arms, she wanted that feeling back. She wanted him to be here with her now. She didn't even get a chance to tell him how she felt. For once she felt like someone actually cared for her, and she had walked away from him.
Natasha on the other hand was thinking about her time in the Red Room and how she didn't help anyone to get out like Andy did. There were so many girls apart of that program and she didn't help one of them get out. Each one didn't deserve the hell that they went through. The program she was apart of had one of the hardest programs there was. Andy's program seemed even harder, and I don't know how her friend did it.
Clint and Tony were outside the cave, Tony still in his Iron Man suit and Clint still with an arrow on his bow. Clint was almost falling asleep and his head kept bobbing but he kept waking up and looking at the cave. Tony was totally asleep in the suit and snoring very very quietly. Tony was there for backup if they needed it.
A twig snapped and Clint jumped to his feet and aimed the arrow in the direction. He was suddenly very awake and alert.
In the cave Andy and Natasha had jumped to their feet and got very close to the wall so no one could see them unless they saw Andy's hair. They saw two figures outside the cave but they weren't even facing them.
Andy was the first to recognize the bow and arrow and her eyes widened. "Clint." She muttered and Natasha looked at Andy then back at Tony and Clint.
Tony had gone around and found the people who were walking towards them and Clint put down his arrow.
"What the hell guys? How'd you find out we were here, and why are you here?" Clint whispered as he saw the people who were there.
"We're here to help. She's one of us now and we protect our people." Steve said. He had his shield and dressed in the full Captain America outfit.
Clint surveyed the rest of them. Thor was in full Asgard gear with his hammer, Wanda had her outfit on and she was surveying the area. Bucky was in his battle suit with his metal arm glinting in the low light of morning.
Andy bent down and took a piece of paper out of her bag and then a pencil. As Clint and the rest of the avengers were arguing in hushed voices, other than Thor because he doesn't know how to whisper. Andy was writing a letter to Clint mostly, but to all of them. She left the note on the cave floor and stood up. "Let's go." She whispered and ran out of the cave.
"Ghost lady come back here!" Thor called as he saw the flash of silver and red hair.
Clint turned on his heel and ran to the cave. He groaned and ran a hand through his hair. He looked at the ground and saw the note. As he took a deep breath he picked up the note and looked at it.
The team gave him time as he read it but they were all kind of worried about what he was going to do, and if he was just going to storm away.
Clint and fellow Avengers,
Well first Clint, thank you for everything you've done for me and trying to keep me safe but we both know I don't need the protection. I have Natasha with me and I have my...skills. I miss you a lot but I can't come back to you and I can't do this to you, by letting you close, I put your life in danger.
To the other Avengers, really? You didn't think we would first hear you, and second see you in your spangly outfits? You didn't need to come. Clint could've killed you, or we could've killed you.
Natasha and I are on a mission by ourselves. You guys can not help us with this. I don't care if I'm "one of you now". We're not soldiers Steve. I will never be one of you, trust me. I am not you and I'm sorry for leaving you guys so soon but I need to get Bruce and I need to get Alex back for what she did to me and now, my friends.
Clint this is for your eyes only now.
I know I'm Spectra and I know I don't open up like at all, but I want to open up to you now. You're amazing and I honestly miss your arms around me. I really care about and like you. I've never been in love so I don't know what that feels like, but if I had to imagine what it felt like, it would be like what I feel for you...
I hope I'll see all of you soon,
Andy/Spectra/Spec
Clint walked back to the group and read them the part that Andy addressed to them.
Tony laughed when he read "spangly outfits" and "we're not soldiers" because he had told Steve those exact words.
Andy and Natasha had run down a path and got to a clearing with a building in the middle.
Andy paused and looked at Natasha. Andy took a deep breath. Before either of them could say anything, Natasha was knocked out and Andy whirled around to see the person she was looking for.
Alex.
"Welcome to Hydra." Alex said.
