Never Judge A Girl By Her Looks #2
Ethan POV
Me and Lux swept the floors and cleaned the tables for our customers while the café was still closed.
Throughout all the cleaning, we were especially quiet and not even a peep came out of our mouths just the sounds of chairs screeching and brooms brushing against the floors.
Well, that's unexpected for Lux to be so focused on cleaning...
I got out of my thoughts and continued.

Once we were done, both of us readied ourselves and stood patiently for our boss, Seth.
Seth also readied himself by tightening his tie and straightening his shirt.
“Alright kid, if you want to serve people as properly as possible then you gotta follow this rules.”
He breathed in,
“Firstly, you must always keep your customers as comfortable as possible. You shouldn't make our customers nervous or anxious, that would lower our business.
Secondly, if a customer asks something, just do it! No explaining of what that means and what the consequences are.
And thirdly, enjoy yourself. Also no explanation.
Got that!?”
He breathed in and out heavily.
“Yes boss!” We answered back to him and went to our places. Lux was at the baristas area and was preparing the cash register and I was beside the counter. Seth turned the sign; now open.
Well, it seems like it will be a busy night...
And I was right. It kept on getting busier and the customers came in faster than I thought. When I first came into the café, it seemed quiet and out of business but now... gosh what a difference.
At first sight it can be quite deceiving.
I quickly glanced at Lux seeing what she was doing. All I could see is a completely different person. Her hands moved at different pace and her eyes focused on everything in front of her. She looked like she was multitasking.
I changed my focus to the people in front of me.
This whole business continued for 8 hours.

“I can't... anymore. Are we... done!?” I panted and huffed as I leaned against the counter; serving people is a lot harder than I thought or maybe I'm not experienced enough to endure this type of work. I thought about Lux and wondered if she's having a hard time since she has to do all the work, while I have to do most of the simple things.
“Business is over! You can finish off all the rest. I'll be at the back.” He pointed to the exit the door then went holding something which looks like a lighter...
“He goes to the back to smoke,” Lux spoken up as I looked at her in surprise, I didn't know she can read minds, “he had some rough times in the past and the only way to cure that is to smoke. He's a nice guy with full of happiness but underneath it all everyone has some type of problem they can or can not fix.”
When she said all of that, I never expected her to say something so personal. And the way she says everyone has problems almost sounds like she had it worse.
“Oh... Uh... Thanks for telling me.” The atmosphere seemed like it dropped a few Celsius and the silence took over.
“Eh! Sorry for this type of topic. I completely forgotten to respect other people's problems and I just started blurting things out! Please, just forget what I just said! Hey! I know what about we talk about... Uh... Um... Stuff?”
Her arms flew all around her and her face blushed as she started getting more nervous and embarrassed.
The way she's acting... is kind of funny.
The topic we were just talking about flew across our heads and went out the window and my laughter broke through.
“Hey! What are you laughing at? Did I do something? Hey! Answer!?”
The continuous laughter and questions screeching at me lessen our cleaning.
“Lux! Ethan! If you don't clean this place, all the money you'll be getting will be your last!
The sudden voice made us jump and looked across the back door only to be greeted by Seth, our boss.
We quickly continued our work as soon as possible while Seth sat on a stool and spied on us.
His glare really does give me the creeps. Well, I better get use to this place and him or I'll never get the money to pay for the bank and taxes.

We switched off all the spotlights and turned the sign; now closed. We said our "goodbyes" and "see ya laters" as we parted ways.
I sighed and resumed my trek, ready for the next day.
A/N: I don't really know how a café actually works so there may be bits that I may forgotten or bits that a barista doesn't do, but I do hope you still like this. The style of my writing may look different which is a good thing! <3
