Chapter Ten

Using the power of his pout along with a few bats of his lashes– knowing full well Jungkook is an absolute sucker for the combination– Yoongi convinced Jungkook to take a few more swigs of whiskey.

The whiskey was noticeably more smooth than what Yoongi would normally get on the rare occasions he did buy a bottle.

The quality of the beverage hid well the fact that the alcohol content was higher than what they'd assumed it to be.

In short, when it comes down to it, making ramen when you're progressively getting more and more inebriated turns into kind of a shit show.

It started out innocently enough; Jungkook eating some grapes while waiting for the water to boil.

It didn't take long for him to decide that Yoongi, who was sitting on the counter, legs swinging as he happily bit into a Pocky stick, looked much too peaceful.

He didn't think throwing a single grape at his hyung would start an all out food fight, but it did.

The fridge ended up being raided for more ammo once the grapes and Pockys had all been thrown, Yoongi grabbing a can of whipped cream Jungkook had bought for the sundae's he'd planned on them eating the following day, while Jungkook got the bottle of chocolate syrup.

They ran around the kitchen teasing and taunting each other as they laughed.

When the water had started boiling over on the stove it brought them back to reality and they both quickly moved to subdue the situation.

Now Yoongi has the first packet of ramen torn open and ready to plop into the boiling water, but stops his hand mid-air with a puzzled expression.

"I don't want ramen," he states, placing the packet down on the counter before turning to Jungkook.

When Yoongi sees him, he immediately dawns a wide smile.

For a moment he had forgotten the younger had whipped cream and chocolate syrup in his hair, on his cheeks as well as on the side of his neck, his shirt and pants.

Jungkook is sitting atop the kitchen table with a washcloth as he focuses all of his attention on a single spot of syrup that had been smudged across the knee of his pants.

"That spot should be the least of your concern, Kookie." Yoongi smiles, walking to Jungkook.

He gently takes the cloth out of the younger's hands, walking it to the sink to rinse it with warm water.

He feels Jungkook's eyes on him, almost as if he is physically hovering at his back, and he ducks his head at the feeling.

He was being cheeky when he made his comment earlier, but he was being honest. Jungkook has complimented Yoongi time and time again on how nice his skin is.

Yoongi doesn't usually like the attention– he blushes like crazy when Jungkook says some of the things he does, which only eggs the younger on– but tonight...

Tonight he doesn't mind it.

Tonight he wants to feel seen because Taehyung showing up at his work made him remember what it's like to be ignored.

The way he came into his work, intending to interrupt Yoongi's day because he decided he wanted to talk to Yoongi. Everything was– and apparently still is– all about him.

Yoongi was always made to feel like he should feel honored to be with Taehyung.

The man never came out and told Yoongi that, but his actions spoke volumes regarding that implication.

Yoongi forgets those parts. The toxicity between the two of them. His mind, along with his heart, tend to block out the bad reflexively.

His subconscious only allows him to remember the times when Taehyung was sweet, caring and seemingly supportive.

The time before two years ago. That's when everything changed.

He'd always been a little controlling, telling Yoongi what he did and didn't like him to do, but it all was amplified when Jungkook moved in.

Seeing Taehyung always makes him feel so small and weak.

Like he's only good enough to control, nothing else.

"Hyung," Jungkook voices gently as he walks up behind Yoongi.

Yoongi can feel his chest flush against his back as Jungkook reaches for the faucet, turning the handle of the sink so that the water will begin to run cold, before he removes the cloth from Yoongi's grip.

"Are you okay? That water was hot."

Blinking the haze out of his eyes, Yoongi focuses on his hands. They are bright red, the cold water running over the irritated skin feeling incredibly soothing.

He doesn't say anything, only nods his head as he closes his eyes.

He doesn't realize he has tilted his head back against Jungkook's shoulder until Jungkook lets out a chuckle that vibrates through him.

"Hyung, you have chocolate syrup in your hair and now it's on my shirt."

Yoongi lifts his head away from Jungkook, turning around in his arms. He takes a deep breath before resting his forehead in the middle of his best friend's chest.

"Sorry."

Jungkook lets out a sigh. "There's nothing to apologize for."

"Now, if you don't want ramen anymore, what would you like instead?" Jungkook asks after a pause, knowing the most effective way to cheer Yoongi up is comfort food.

Bringing the topic of their dinner back up seems to do the trick because the tension in Yoongi's shoulders begins to subside as he proceeds to think about food instead of whatever he'd been thinking about– Jungkook would venture to guess it was Taehyung related.

When Yoongi mentions ordering pizza Jungkook is quick to grab his phone, fumbling with the device in his hands as he opens his browser to get to their favorite pizzeria's website, anticipating placing an order for delivery for their usual: one extra cheesy pepperoni pizza, one meat lovers and an order of breadsticks.

"Do you want lava cake too?" Jungkook asks, finger hovering over the Add to Order icon on his screen.

"No, I have desert covered."

"We aren't going to have alcohol for desert," Jungkook rolls his eyes playfully with a chuckle.

"It- it's not alcohol," Yoongi purses his lips, contemplating if he really wants to share this information with his friend.

"So..." Jungkook drawls, glancing up from his phone momentarily before putting his attention back on the screen to finish placing their order. "What is it?"

Yoongi clicks his tongue. "I have brownies. They're in my room."

Jungkook tilts his head, mildly confused. "You have brownies... in your room? Like, a box of them or a bag or what?"

"A pan... Jin gave them to me with the whiskey," Yoongi nibbles his lip, already regretting sharing this information with Jungkook.

Yoongi doesn't mind sharing food. Especially not with Jungkook, but due to past events, he thinks he should have kept the existence of the brownies to himself...

"When did he give you all these things?" Jungkook asks absently, still not looking at Yoongi.

Yoongi's brows raise in surprise at the younger's lack of reaction.

He figured Jungkook would be a little more enthused at the news that the best brownies in the world are and have been under the same roof as him without his knowledge.

"Thursday," he eyes Jungkook, brows creased in suspicion. "I don't remember what his reason was for giving me my present early but he did."

"I see," Jungkook nods. "Well, that was very nice of him."

Yoongi is quiet for a moment, staring at Jungkook.

Yoongi's frown deepens on his lips as he continues to watch Jungkook tapping his screen.

He can't imagine that Jungkook is really so immersed in ordering pizza that he's missing what Yoongi has said.

He also can't imagine that Jungkook doesn't remember what happened.

It was one of their biggest fights. Yoongi didn't talk to him for almost a full twenty four hours after it happened.

Before his drunk mind can filter itself, he suddenly blurts out, "I hid them from you because I couldn't risk you sniffing them out in the kitchen and scarfing them all down before I had one like you did the last time he gave us brownies! Do you really not remember that?!"

Jungkook stills before breaking into a fit of laughter, remembering back to when Jin had made Jungkook and Yoongi– and as in both of them– brownies months prior.

He'd forgotten about it if he's being honest.

Brownies aren't something Jin makes very often, the older prefers cooking to baking, but his brownies are marvelous.

Jungkook will admit that he got a little carried away the last time they'd had them but anyone who has tasted Jin's brownies knows how addicting they are.

So yes, he practically ate the entire pan Jin had given them, Yoongi only getting one square for himself.

"You don't need to feel guilty or whatever, hyung. Honestly, I forgot all about that, but apparently you have not," Jungkook pouts, saying, "I have apologized before though, hyung. A few times, but I guess I must not have been sorry enough."

He places his phone he's had gripped in his hand down on the table before making his way to Yoongi, arms open for a hug.

With a sigh of defeat and a playful roll of his eyes, Yoongi allows Jungkook to wrap him in a hug.

"How can I ever make it up to you, hyung?" Jungkook muses lowly against the crook of Yoongi's neck where he's bent down in order to rest his head.

He sees, hears and feels Yoongi gulp before he speaks.

"Showers."

Jungkook lifts his head away from Yoongi, surprise very apparent in his expression. "What?"

Yoongi's eyes are wide as his cheeks heat rapidly with embarrassment.

"W-we need showers. For the syrup and whipped cream!" Yoongi exclaims as a way of further explanation.

"A shower would help me make up to you that I ate the brownies?" Jungkook questions slowly, searching Yoongi's eyes for the realization of how his wording could be taken as an invitation.

When Yoongi continues to stare blankly, showing no understanding of what's wrong with what he's said, Jungkook's eyes soften and he fights the urge to kiss the hell out of his unbearably adorable hyung.

"Are you wanting me to shower with you? Because that's what it sounds like."

And I can't say I'm not totally, completely, one hundred percent sure I wouldn't take you up on that offer Jungkook keeps himself from voicing out despite his tipsy, foggy mind being tempted to cease filtering such words.

Or any words that shouldn't be said as far as his pesky feelings are concerned.

Yoongi's eyes go as wide as saucers, the pink in his cheeks getting deeper at the same time he shakes his head rapidly. "No! No, that- I- That's not what I meant to say!"

Jungkook giggles as he admires Yoongi's reaction to his teasing. So effortlessly endearing.

"I was just teasing," he grins, letting go of Yoongi. "Why don't you go shower first and I'll-"

"You can go first. I'll get the rest of this mess cleaned up in the meantime," Yoongi wipes his hands on his pants, avoiding Jungkook's gaze.

"You don't have to do all of this by yourself. We both made the mess. And technically I started it."

Yoongi looks up, a smile pulling at his lips hearing the care in Jungkook's voice. "No, Kookie. It's alright. It's the least I can do for all the help you've given to me today. You deserve some time away from me and my moody ass," he smiles, resting his palms on Jungkook's shoulders before turning him around to walk him out of the kitchen. "You go get showered alone while I clean up."

Jungkook does as instructed, leaving the kitchen to head to the bathroom.

"I'll leave the door unlocked," Jungkook calls over his shoulder as he walks to the bathroom. He pauses in the doorway, teasing smirk on his lips, looking at Yoongi. "You know. In case you change your mind about how I can show you how sorry I am."

"Aish, just go, Kook-ah!" Yoongi exhales, coating his tone in annoyance in order to cover up his flustered short circuiting at the thought of showering with Jungkook.

Jungkook doesn't answer anything back, he simply steps into the bathroom, laughing to himself before closing the door behind him, which Yoongi is thankful for.

He's about to overheat as it us with how fast his hearts beating.

Sure Jungkook compliments Yoongi when he wears shorts or clothes that are actually his size, but they're just words.

The kind words of a friend, but words nonetheless.

Jungkook knows his body is something Yoongi isn't confident in so he tries to gas him up to help him be more confident.

He doesn't mean anything by it so it's best to leave thoughts about showers with the gorgeous man as a fantasy.

He clears his throat with a small shake of his head as he takes quick steps back to the sink, head still ducked down as he begins wetting another cloth towel.
