Chapter Seven
Concurrently, Yoongi was doing the same– waiting for closing time so he could go home, relax and watch movies with Jungkook.
He tried his best to stay busy in hopes that the day wouldn't be quite so monotonous.
While Namjoon worked in his office, Yoongi swept the floor, dusted the shelves and rearranged the displays.
When he was done he moved on to disinfecting the countertops as well as the listening stations, fluffing the cushions on the beanbags and armchairs in the listening station.
All the cleaning– along with the few customers that had come in that he'd helped– some time was killed, but there were still two hours until closing time.
Boredom was overrunning his mind, but it was short lived as an extremely unwelcome guest decided to stop into the little shop.
Then boredom– the peace that was chased away so suddenly– was immediately missed.
He had his back to the door when he came in and as soon as he heard his voice, Yoongi's whole body tensed up and his heart stilled.
"Hello love."
His face paled and he could have sworn the temperature in the room dropped several degrees.
"What are you doing here?" Yoongi stammered lowly, not turning around and mentally patting himself on the back for keeping his voice even and emotionless.
"Tomorrow's your big day. Just wanted to stop and wish you well," he chirps back in his smooth, velvety voice.
"You need to leave," Yoongi answers, voice coming out more deflated than it did previously.
"You changed your number," Yoongi hears in return. "If you hadn't done that I wouldn't have had to make the trip all the way down here."
"Taehyung," Namjoon growls suddenly as he comes out of the back room, to Yoongi's relief. He then hurries to where Yoongi is stood by one of the shelves.
Yoongi continues to keep his back to the door, not being able to bring himself to turn around and look at the man who broke his heart.
"I called Jungkook and he's on his way. Go to my office, lock the door, and wait for him there, hyung," Namjoon says lowly.
Yoongi nods quickly as he rushes past Namjoon.
"Stay out of this, Namjoon," Taehyung grits his teeth. "This is between Yoongi and I."
"I told you not to come back here. And this is private property! I have every right to tell you to fuck off."
"Is that so," Taehyung chuckles with a crooked smile.
He slowly begins to walk towards Namjoon, who stands his ground, puffing out his chest defiantly.
"You and Jungkook need to mind your fucking business," Taehyung growls as he jabs a finger into Namjoon's chest. "I know he wants to see me and I need to talk to him."
"If you couldn't tell, he absolutely does not want to talk to you. He's done with you, Taehyung. You don't control him anymore. Now," Namjoon takes a step closer to Taehyung, jaw clenched tightly. "I'm not going to say it again."
Taehyung scoffs, baring into Namjoon's eyes before movement over his shoulder catches his eye.
"Kitten, please just hear what I have to say! At least give me that and then if you don't want to see me again I'll leave you alone."
"P-please just leave, Taehyung." Yoongi calls as he hides himself inside the doorframe he's been pressed against the wall next to, listening to the two talk.
"Whatever Jungkook's told you isn't true, love. I love you more than anyone ever will."
"Don't talk about him like that! Just go away," Yoongi raises his voice, but it loses a little venom towards the end.
Suddenly the door to the shop is shoved open by an irate Jungkook.
"Taehyung, get the fuck out of here. Now." He growls aggressively, glaring daggers at him before meeting eyes with Namjoon.
He then sees Yoongi peak around the doorway at the back of the shop over Namjoon's shoulder.
Without sparing another glance at Taehyung, he keeps his eyes locked on the doorway as he rushes towards it.
He hears Namjoon and Taehyung begin to argue again– both with raises voices and threats of police involvement– but doesn't particularly close attention to the whole of the conversation.
As much as he'd like to turn around and beat the living hell out of Taehyung, he's not who he's here for. Plus, he's not worth his time.
As soon as he steps foot into the back room Yoongi rushes towards him.
Jungkook picks up his shaking frame up, Yoongi wrapping his legs around the younger as he hooks his arms around his neck, and begins to sob silently.
Jungkook rubs his back as he carries him to Namjoon's office.
As soon as he they're inside, Jungkook shuts and locks the door.
"I called the police as soon as I got off the phone with Namjoon. They'll be here soon," Jungkook says softly as he sits down on the small couch against the wall.
"You didn't need to do that. He didn't do anything to me... H-he'll leave soon."
"Hyung," Jungkook sighs. "Namjoon has told him so many times that he is not allowed to come in here. He's warned him before that if he does he will call the police. And he may not have done anything yet, but he came here to harass you. To try to rattle you. Even if he didn't do anything yet, it was only a matter of time. He came here to harrass. And to get back with you, no doubt."
"He just said he wanted to talk to me..." Yoongi sniffles. "He remembered tomorrow's my Happy Birthday..."
Jungkook takes a shaky breath before pulling away from Yoongi.
"Hyung, look at me," he says softly, voice full of concern.
Yoongi lifts his head off of Jungkook's shoulder to do as he's been asked.
"Please don't let him back in," Jungkook pleads, a few tears escaping his eye as he searches Yoongi's. "Please."
They hold each other's gaze for several seconds.
As Yoongi watches more tears fall from the younger's eyes he raises his hands up at the same time Jungkook does, with the intention of wiping away the others' tears.
Jungkook sees Yoongi's eyes seemingly drift slowly down to his lips but he doesn't have time to think too much about it as the moment is cut short by pounding on the door as Taehyung yells for Yoongi to "open the fucking door" and talk to him.
Yoongi immediately buries his head in the crook of Jungkook's neck again, covering his ears tightly while Jungkook tightens his hold around him.
"I won't let him get to you, hyung. It'll be okay. I'll protect you."
"Promise?" Yoongi chokes out barely above a whisper.
"I promise. I'll never let him or anyone else hurt you."
Because I love you Jungkook has the overwhelming urge to add, but refrains as he begins to stroke Yoongi's hair, placing a kiss on the side of his head as he continues to rock him side to side.
.......
The police showed up not long after that, removing an incensed Taehyung from the shop.
Namjoon decided to close the shop a early due to the commotion. Yoongi felt terrible for the disturbance, but didn't put up much of a fight about not finishing out the day.
He didn't have much fight left in him in general.
He didn't even actually see Taehyung– and only said a few words to him– but the bastard always drains the life right out of him. Both mentally and emotionally.
If it weren't for Jungkook, he would be a complete and total wreck. But just like he always does, Jungkook knew exactly what Yoongi needed.
He held Yoongi's hand tightly the whole drive back to the apartment, never pushing him to talk about what he was feeling or asking if he was okay– which he didn't really need to ask anyway because he already knew Yoongi wasn't.
When they got to their building, he carried Yoongi all the way up to the apartment, leaving his groceries in the car to do so as Yoongi had fallen asleep about ten minutes into their drive home.
He laid a groggy, half awake Yoongi onto the couch as he went to draw a bath for him, making sure to use the chamamille and vanilla scented bath bomb he had purchased on a sort of whim a month or so prior, admittedly with Yoongi in mind.
At the time it was coming up on Valentine's Day and Jungkook knew Yoongi would be feeling down about being single on that day as well, which was correct.
Yoongi wasn't as distraught as he was for his birthday, but he was noticeably deflated in the days leading up to that holiday.
He helped Yoongi into the bathroom, leaving him to get undressed and into the tub himself while Jungkook went into the kitchen.
After putting some water on the stove to start boiling for tea, he went to the living room and got Yoongi's favorite movie pulled up on the TV ready to watch.
He knocked on the bathroom door about fifteen minutes later to make sure Yoongi was alright as well as let him know to take his time.
Jungkook informed him that he was just going to go down to the car to get a few things out of his trunk, but he would be right back.
Minutes later, he made his way back into the building, plastic bags in hand which were mostly filled with their favorite snacks, candy, ramen and rice.
He was planning on saving these things for tomorrow as he'd wanted to spend a lazy day in since that is something his homebody hyung– who preferred to be home above all else– enjoys very much, but he'd decided to call an audible and probably dip into the stash tonight.
They can start their movie marathon tonight as well, cuddle on the couch until they're ready to sleep and then can do the same– or whatever Yoongi may want to do instead– tomorrow.
He was perfectly fine with anything, as long as Yoongi was happy.
