Chapter Four
Ruffling his hair in annoyance, Jungkook stalks his way out of the large building to his car.
He has no right to be jealous, he knows that, but that knowledge does absolutely nothing to combat the feeling weighing on his mind.
He's happy Yoongi was able to get a ride instead of having to wait for the next bus.
He was obviously upset on the phone, not only that he was late but that he wouldn't be there to open so his co-worker would have to.
Yoongi gets sick at the thought of letting someone down– which was one of the reasons Jungkook was a bit taken back that Yoongi had called in sick yesterday– and judging by his voicemail, he was feeling bad for that reason on top of a few others.
So yes, Jungkook's glad he found a ride. He just really really wishes Hoseok wasn't the one who had offered it.
At least Jungkook is fairly close to Yoongi's work. Closer than he would be if he had gone to his regular gym instead of the rec center in the middle of the city.
Maybe he'll be able to meet him there, just to make sure he's made it okay.
Not that he necessarily doubts he will or thinks anything bad will happen.
Absolutely not, but, he doesn't know Hoseok. And neither does Yoongi; his sweet, trusting hyung.
Jungkook respects him greatly because for all the deceit and manipulation people have put him through, Yoongi still tries to see the good in everyone.
It's admirable, but it also makes him vulnerable.
Hoseok is nice and he didn't try to hide it at all when he checked Yoongi out right in front of him.
Yoongi can put up a fight if he really had to– Jungkook's shown him a few boxing techniques so Yoongi does know how to throw a decent punch– but Hoseok could probably get away with quite a bit if he sweet talked Yoongi enough. That's what makes Jungkook nervous.
He doesn't want to come off as a stalker or obsessive, even though Yoongi would probably understand his reason for insuring he'd arrived safely without Jungkook even needing to explain.
He just wants to make sure his friend makes it to work.
He was hussling to get all of his things together, having his bag packed and on his way to the front entrance to get to the parking lot as he was talking to Yoongi, so he will just head over that way.
He won't make it obvious that he's checking up on him. He'll park up the street or maybe around the corner. Wherever the store will be within view–
"God, I sound like a fucking creep," Jungkook groans as he pulls out of the parking lot, debating back and forth if this is a good idea.
No, he just wants to make sure he's okay. To see that he's fine.
He'd be a nervous wreck all day if he didn't make sure Yoongi was okay.
Fifteen minutes later– and needless to say– Yoongi did make it to work just fine and Jungkook was able to see it for himself.
He didn't stick around long after he'd recognized Yoongi getting out of the car that had pulled up in front of the store.
He'd abruptly driven away after to head home because he did indeed feel like a stalker.
.......
When they'd pulled up to his work, Yoongi thanked Hoseok ten times over for being so nice as to give him a ride.
He also thanked him for the music recommendations he'd given for him to check out.
It turned out that the younger had very similar tastes to Yoongi. He learned a few other things about Hoseok as well.
Like that he's one year younger than Yoongi is– his birthday having just passed a few week before.
Probably the most interesting thing though was that Hoseok was attending a performing arts school, coincidentally the same one his ex does, and is studying music production.
Yoongi was fascinated by that fact and wished he had more time to speak with him about it, but by the time they'd gotten to that topic he had arrived at work.
He invited him in to say hello to Namjoon, but Hoseok declined saying that he was planning on being home at a certain time if he doesn't want to be painting to late.
They exchanged numbers during the drive for Yoongi to be able to get ahold of him just in case for whatever reason Jungkook couldn't make it to pick him up, which Yoongi assured wouldn't be the case but saved his number anyway.
After that he thanked the younger once more before turning to hurry into the store as to not be any more late than he already was.
He smiled the whole way into the store, content to have made a new friend, while Hoseok drove back the way he'd come to go to the paint store with an even bigger smile than Yoongi's.
Hoseok was fascinated by him and wanted nothing more than to get closer to him, to get to know more about him, but he wouldn't let it get further than friendship because even if Yoongi didn't see it, he did.
Jungkook doesn't look at Yoongi how a friend looks at their friend. And Hoseok knows all too well what it's like to love someone who has no idea of your feelings towards them.
Whether Jungkook is afraid to tell Yoongi for fear of being rejected or he, for some crazy reason, doesn't realize himself just how much he loves Yoongi, Hoseok isn't sure.
What he does know is that he isn't going to stand in Jungkook's way when it comes to Yoongi.
It's much to early to anticipate Yoongi liking Hoseok, but Hoseok knows that he has already become a bit infatuated with the older.
He'll keep it at a friendship level though. He'll give Jungkook the courtesy he wishes someone would have given him with the one he loved; a chance to be brave and tell him how he feels.
