Chapter Five

Jungkook didn't have a whole lot on his to-do list today besides finish getting Yoongi's present ready.

What he has left to get was the easy stuff. The big gift– the one in his hands currently– is what he is nervous about.

He has been working over-time, offering to cover for any of his co-workers that couldn't make it in for whatever reason, in order to save up enough money, but he knew it would all be worth it.

He is almost positive Yoongi is going to like the gift, but it still made him nervous.

He's tried to think of every possible reaction the man could have and he thinks in turn he's thought of every way to answer and explain anything he may question to him.

Because he will have questions.

If it goes as well as he hopes, Jungkook can't wait to give it to him and see his reaction.

To see that bright, unexpectedly large smile his Yoongi dawns when he's genuinely happy.

The one that causes a wave of pride and adoration to fill him from his head to his toes when he knows he's the cause of it.

(And he always wants to be the cause of it.)

He smiles proudly at the papers in his hand before he carefully tucks them into an envelope.

After it's closed, he takes it to his closet.

Yoongi doesn't normally go into Jungkook's room, but that doesn't mean Jungkook hasn't unexpectedly come home to see Yoongi wearing one of his hoodies Jungkook knows was hanging in his closet more than once.

He carefully stretches up to place the envelope on the top shelf to ensure that it won't be easily found.

As Jungkook turns around with a content smile. As he makes his way back to his phone catches his eye.

Just as he reaches for the device, it begins to ring. When he sees the hilariously unattractive picture of Jin displayed on the screen, he keeps his smile in place as he answers.

"Hyung! How are you? Long time no speak," he sing songs into the receiver as he heads out of his room to get to the kitchen.

"Jungkook-ah, I've called with some very exciting news."

Jungkook's smile dims just a little at the sentence because he knows what it usually means when calls from Jin begin this way.

He lets out a sigh. "Who is it this time."

"Don't give me attitude, brat! It's much too late in the day to be acting this way."

Jungkook glances at the clock on the microwave with furrowed brows. "Late? It's not even one o'clock. Putting that aside though, that statement doesn't even make sense. How does one decide up to what time of day it's okay to have an attitude?"

Jin lets out an annoyed groan, "Well, no one likes mornings, so I would say before noon because you can use that as an excuse for a bad attitude. And most likely the person you use it on will agree with you and accept the answer. Anyway, never mind that. I was calling because I have a friend who I really think you would get along with. He has the best personality and is super hot!"

Jungkook leans his back against the countertop, pulling the phone away from his ear to let out another heavy sigh before bringing it back to his ear.

"Hyung, I appreciate you wanting to help me date or whatev–"

"Oh! And he's from Busan too."

Jungkook pauses in case Jin has any more facts to add about whoever he's talking about.

When he doesn't continue, Jungkook does.

"It's nice of you to try, but I'm not really looking for anything. I'm just trying to focus on-"

"Jungkook, you haven't been on a date in..." Jin pauses to try to think of the last time he'd heard the younger talk about going on a date or even meeting someone he was interested in. "Five, maybe six months."

Jungkook scoffs. "Bullshit, it hasn't been that long."

"Hate to say it Kook-ah, but it has. Unless you've been on a date or met someone since your birthday."

Jungkook purses his lips as he tries to recall. He'd had a few one night stands if he remember correctly, dates though...

"Yeah, okay. At least that long, but what's wrong with that? I just don't really like dating."

"Then don't consider this a date. Just a meet up. Super casual with no expectations." Jin answers back and Jungkook can hear the smile in his voice.

His stupid proud smile he puts on display when he knows he's about to get his way.

Jungkook closes his eyes in annoyance as he runs his tongue across his teeth because he's fairly certain he knows what Jin has done.

"Did you already tell him I'd meet him?"

"He'll be at the café near the rec center you like to go to at two-thirty. That should give you plenty of time to get dolled up and meet him there on time."

"Goddamn it," Jungkook breaths out quietly but not quiet enough.

"Mind your language! Also, make sure not to be late. Don't make me look bad."

"How would my timeliness, or lack there of, reflect badly on you?" Jungkook inquires flatly as he walks over to their couch.

"Because I might have talked you up and made you seem basically like a dream. He's really excited to meet you."

"Oh my God," Jungkook groans as he drops himself onto the couch, sinking back against the cushions.

"I'm serious Jungkook. This guy is a catch so stop moping and go start getting ready."

"Fu-" Jungkook begins to curse but quickly changes his wording. "Fun. Sounds fun."

"Yes, fun!"

"If you talked so much about me to him aren't you going to do the same with me?" Jungkook sighs.

"What do you mean?" He asks back cluelessly.

"Tell me about him. Who is this guy? What makes you think this set up will work out better than the previous ones?"

"I did tell you about him. He's hot, extremely funny, was born and raised in Busan, is a performer... yeah. I don't know what else you want to know?"

"How about a name, hyung." Jungkook huffs.

"Oh! Jimin. Park Jimin."

Jungkook shoots up in his seat. "...Park Jimin?"

"Yeah, and you are seriously going to love him. He is the most adorable little thing ever! And I know you have a thing for the small, pretty ones," he snickers knowingly. "Everyone who meets him just adores him..." As Jin continues to gush over Jimin, Jungkook has begun to tune him out as memories begin to flash through his mind.

So many and so quickly that he doesn't even get after his hyung for his sly remark about his "preferences."

This can't be that Jimin, right?

Not the Jimin he used to ride bikes with growing up.

The Jimin he used to skip rocks at the pond with, go searching for hidden treasure in the tree thicket behind the elementary school or go on weekend trips to the beach with his family, right?

It can't be. That'd be much too coincidental.

Although, Jin just said he was born and raised in Busan...

"Hyung," Jungkook cuts the older off, "What time was this at again?"

"Two thirty."

He grunts as he stands up from the couch, feeling a little more excited then he did before.

"Better go then if I want to make a good impression."

"Yeah, you go get dressed! If I may suggest for you to wear some clothes that are your size as opposed to the circus tents you call t-shirts? In fact, forego the t-shirt all together. Wear something more-"

And with that, Jungkook hangs up.

He doesn't need to be taking fashion advice from Jin of all people. Mr. Pick-Out-The-First-Thing-I-See before putting it on and leaving the house, patterns and color coordination be damned.

Besides, he's twenty-one years old.

Jungkook knows how to look good when he wants to and if this really is that Jimin he'll be seeing this afternoon, he'll be damn sure to look his best.
