Chapter 9

With Akaashi back, Bokuto was more energetic than yesterday though on the other hand Akaashi was more irritable possibly because he was tired of having to read lips. Every time the two of them had a chance to talk they were bickering. I had to split them up a few times though neither of them stayed mad at the other for long and I guess you couldn't really call it a real argument since they weren't really mad at each other. At one point Akaashi got tired of talking all together and just started signing exasperatedly at Bokuto

"Are those gang signs?" Bokuto exclaimed, Akaashi sighed signing something else, I didn't know sign language and I don't think that anyone else on the team did.

"What does that mean?" Bokuto shouted, Akaashi rubbed his eyes and sighed

"Bokuto, Akaashi give it a rest please" I called "You two have been bickering constantly today" Bokuto furrowed his eyebrpws

"Sorry" he muttered but didn't seem to remorseful with his apology

"Sorry" Akaashi muttered as well, I was surprised I didn't think that Akaashi caught onto what I said. The two of them walked to the opposite sides of the court, I had to keep a much closer eye on Akaashi making sure he didn't get hurt again. Since he couldn't hear, he couldn't hear the calls which mean't he didn't know where the ball was going to or who he should toss too. That gave him a hard time when he was making calls when he was setting the ball since he didn't know who was calling for a toss

"Akaashi!" Bokuto called as the ball rose above Akaashi's head setting up for a toss. Akaashi furrowed his eyebrows the tips of his ears going a dark red with frustration since he didn't know who to toss the ball to. As the ball touched the tips of his fingers Akaashi entrusted the ball to Bokuto which was the right call. Bokuto spike it watching the ball hit the floor and bounce away on the other side of the net.

"Sorry was that the right call?" Akaashi asked concerned

"No I didn't even ask for the ball" Bokuto furrowed his eyebrows as he teased Akaashi

"O-Oh s-s-sorry" Akaashi's face went red with embarrassment

"I'm kidding, Akaashi you did good" Bokuto laughed

"Stupid don't joke like that" Akaashi exclaimed turning away

"Bokuto....., praising Akaashi?" Konoha exclaimed awestruck

"It's it usually the other way around?" Onaga asked shaking his head

"Akaashi didn't know who called for a toss so he had to make a guess" I explained

"Why didn't he know?" Konoha asked raising one eyebrow "Bokuto shouted his name"

"I shouldn't say I'm not sure he's ready to tell everyone just yet" I explained "He'll say when he's ready"

"Oh" Onaga" Nodded and went back to practice

"Akaashi" I called, Bokuto tapped Akaashi on the shoulder pointing to me

"Hm?" Akaashi asked spinning around

"Good job" I gave him a thumbs up

"Thank you" He muttered a faint smile on his face

"Don't worry if you can't tell the call just trust in the team we'll cover for you" I reassured him

"Yeah" He nodded and went back to practice, Akaashi made a few incorrect calls with his tosses but like I said we were able to cover for that and for the most part we were able to hit them. By the time practice had ended I think that Akaashi was drained physically and emotionally

"You did good Akaashi" I commented

"Thank you" He smiled weakly but tried to hide it

"You did a lot better than I expected" Bokuto exclaimed coming over

"Is that an insult or-?" Akaashi trailed off furrowing his eyebrows "I didn't catch that"

"Oh...., sorry" Bokuto scratched at the back of his neck "It doesn't matter anyways"

"Oh" Akaashi pursed his lips
