Chapter 6
"Where do you live?" she asked, I got into the passenger seat of the car as I told her my address. She nodded going into the drivers seat. Just as she pulled out of the parking lot small drops of water started to fall from the sky
"Good thing I didn't make you walk home, you would have gotten a cold" She laughed turning onto a different rode
"Yeah" I looked up at the sky watching the rain patter against the windshield
"You know now that I think of it Keiji talks a lot about you at the dinner table" his mom explained
"Really what does he say?" I asked excitedly
"Mostly how loud you've been at practice but he talks a lot about your personality and the things you say that he found interesting or funny though he does complain a lot how you yell his name a lot" she laughed
"I do" I shrugged "He never pays attention to me otherwise"
"That's my son" she laughed "He also talks about when you do a good job spiking the ball"
"he does" I exclaimed my face lighting up
"Yeah all the time, Akaashi is and always will be a setter" she paused for a second "He would never play another position"
"I like when he tosses to me" I nodded looking out the window, the rest of the car ride was in silence the only sound being the rain on the window and the soft hum of the car motor. Yoko pulled into my driveway and stopped the car
"Thank you again for dropping me off home" I bowed to her again awkwardly as I got out of the car
"Of course hon" She smiled I was about to close the door when she stopped "oh wait one more thing"
"Hm?" I asked opening the door back a little more
"Tomorrow, Akaashi will probably go back to school, he's the kind of kid who doesn't like taking time off" she started "Which means he'll probably go back to practice" she smiled weakly "Just take care of him okay, make sure he doesn't get hurt and I'm sure he's got some emotions towards you that he doesn't understand so just keep him happy alright?" that seemed quite odd for his mother to be asking of me but I nodded
"Yeah...., yeah I'll do that" I managed a smile "Bye now"
"Bye Bokuto I'll see you another time" She waved to me as I shut the door waiting in the driveway until I went back inside when she pulled out and drove away.
"Koutarou where were you?" My mom asked putting her hands on her hips coming into the foyer as I took my shoes and coat off
"I was visiting Akaashi at the hospital" I explained
"my goodness why was he in the hospital" she exclaimed
"He's lost his hearing" I explained
"How did that happen?" she asked
"They don't know yet" I muttered
"I'm sure that's hard on him" she frowned
"He knows sign language and he can read lips but he's pretty upset about it still"
"I would imagine" she frowned "I feel so bad for him poor boy"
"Akaashi's strong he'll get past it when we were talking he's so good at adapting I completely forgot that he was deaf" I laughed awkwardly
"I see that's good then" she smiled
"Yeah" I nodded
"Dinners almost ready though Koutarou" mom explained "go wash up"
"Yeah" I nodded walking past her upstairs to my room.
