PLOT:

"They're sexist, misogynistic, prejudiced prats! They can't treat you like that, it's unfair. We'll take this to Dumbledore and —"

"James Potter, the feminist. Huh, who would've thought?"

LAURIE PRESCOTT'S LIFE GOAL IS to be a famous quidditch player. Yet, she isn't even allowed on the Slytherin house team because the captain is under the impression 'girls shouldn't play sports' — of course it doesn't matter that the other three houses have female players on their extremely successful teams. No matter how much she begs, she has never even been allowed on the pitch until Slughorn finally intervenes one year, which only serves to anger her housemates. A particularly nasty altercation involving being attacked by several bludgers during tryouts eventually lands her in the hospital wing where she meets James Potter, the enemy captain.

Ever the righteous Gryffindor, James is furious when he finds out about the discrimination Laurie has faced and he makes her a proposal — he'll train her with the Gryffindor team if she helps him boost his grade in Transfiguration and tutors him. It's a deal, nothing more . . . until it is much much more. It turns out that loving someone like James Potter hurts more than any bludger.

EXTRA DETAILS:

— James obviously doesn't need help in Transfiguration, which causes an argument when she finds out. He only makes the deal because he knew she wouldn't have accepted his help otherwise.
— Laurie deals with a lot of resistance from her family as they don't think the career she wants is 'practical.' She finds it hard to open to James and constantly feels the need to prove herself.
— Quidditch scouts come to the final game, so James purposely injures himself and subs Laurie in. This ultimately causes Gryffindor to lose because it's against the rules for different houses to play for each other.
