PLOT:

"I've been assigned to the boy that almost gets himself killed twice a day. At least. The Powers That Be must really hate me."

OPHELIA DEVON WASN'T MEANT TO die at sixteen, but she did, leaving only the memories of a girl once bursting with vitality in her wake. When the Powers That Be find out of her sudden death, they have a proposition for her — she can have a second chance at life if she first serves as a guardian angel for a teenager in need of saving. From what they need saving from, however, she isn't sure. Perhaps the only thing she is sure of is she'll be sent to an early grave for the second time as long as she's assigned to an irritatingly reckless Gryffindor that goes by the name of James Potter.

If you asked James, Ophelia Devon is far too young to be as uptight as she is. He wants to show her what it means to live in the moment — because that's what life is, right? A series of moments, big and small, that ultimately lead to a person's death. That's why James is determined to make all of his moments count, he wants his life to be a story worth telling. Of course he never anticipated that the pretty blonde he barely knew the name of would one day take a starring role in his story. Not until she takes a curse to the chest for him, that is. After that, James Potter really can't help but find himself being drawn to Ophelia Devon's angel eyes.

EXTRA DETAILS:

— In terms of lore, I'll keep it extremely loose. I used the 'Powers That Be' in the description as they're found in the Buffy-verse and quite fleshed out for me. This naturally can be changed depending on your beliefs or what you're most familiar, whether that means there's the Three Fates or different gods.
— Ophelia has been around longer than James knows. She's always been looking out for him over the years, but the first time he notices her is when she steps in and takes a hit for him during a duel with Snape.
— James totally gives her the nickname 'angel' before finding out she is one.
— I have some ideas for how Ophelia might have died, but it's important to note her death was an accident. She was never meant to die so young.
— Her main goal is to save James from being killed in 1981 and then she'll be allowed to live normally again. Except, she doesn't know this is when he'll need saving and that means she panics every time James throws himself into danger. I have some ideas on how this would end, but I won't share these unless asked because I never like to be too controlling with my plots.
