Nineteen - End Game
( "Fallin'" by Teenage FanClub ft De La Soul. Throwback to '93...Bye Bye David :)
David's men sat and leaned on desks and walls pointing their weapons at the jail cells. They had an arrogance about them - like they were sure of a certain outcome and just non-chalantly hung around waiting for it. It was strange, and Virgil turned to Bill, and Bill shrugged; he had no idea what the hell this was.
David was still walking around with his hands behind his back, furious Frankie was not at his immediate disposal. He hated waiting, he had a plane to catch, and she was going to be on it with him; where they could be alone, he could be alone with her.
'Where is Lieutenant Jamison?" David asked both Bill and Virgil, his face pressed up against the cell bars.
"Not sure." Bill began "I didn't see him this morning." He was only lying a bit. They were all in the conference room hours ago, but he had no idea where he was now.
"Is he on duty? - I urge you to think about your answer before it comes out of your mouth. Because if you lie, I will know. I'll not only kill you, I'll also kill all the young officers upstairs in the conference room; And that gentleman, that will be on your hands. So, again: Where is Lieutenant Jamison right now?"

Reba got out of the Ford Roach rented and cursed that her brand new heal got stuck in a pot hole in at the back of the station.
"You'd think they'd fix this lot, it being the police and all." Roach smiled at her and took her hand.
"Come on beautiful, we were supposed to be here hours ago, they're probably done."
"Well sugar pie." Reba purred "We would have been right on time had you not came at me like a hungry mountain lion." She fluttered her eyes at him and he sighed.
"Well my dear," He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and kissed her temple smiling. '"If you didn't bend over in front of me in that little dress of yours all those times I wouldn't have come at you like a hungry mountain lion." She giggled and looked up at him. Reba kissed his nose as they walked from behind the station to the front doors.
When they rounded the building past the large Sparta Fair sign, Roach grabbed Reba and moved back around the corner.
"Roach-"
"Shhh. Wait a minute." He watched a few men hanging around the squad cars in the front. There was an elderly couple that tried to get to the doors and the men stopped them, shaking their heads and pointing to the front of the building. The couple nodded and the men waved to them and went back to hanging around the cars.
"There not letting people in." He whispered to Reba, who already had her phone out texting.
"Goddammit, signal dropped. I'll call if I can-"
"Just wait for a minute." Roach watched them, thinking. "Rebs, you have your gun?"
"No it's at the Oaks – you?"
"No. Shit."
"What are they doin'?" Reba watched them suspiciously. "Who's that comin'?" They watched a squad car pull up and Reba almost yelled out before Roach covered her mouth. She struggled and he held her tight.
"Reba, shhh. They can't know we're here!" He whispered as loud as he could.
"But that's Frankie and Lonnie in that car.." Roach felt awful seeing her eyes tearing up.
"I know beautiful, I know. But there's something going on inside that station, and it's not good. They don't know we're here. If we're gonna help them, we gotta lay low." Roach racked his brain, 'What are they doing here?' It didn't take long for him to figure out they were being held in there, but he didn't know by whom.
"Do you have a signal?"
"Sorta" Her phone dinged with a signal and sent the group text before it dropped again.
"Call Butler County when these asshats head in. They'll come back out once Frankie and Lonnie are inside – probably come out with hostages at some point as well, or-." He looked at Reba "Or, there here for them." And nodded to Lonnie's cruiser. He took her face in his hands. "You remember back in New York - that take down we did together?" Reba's eyes were wide.
"Sure do."
"You ready to do it again?" Reba smiled a huge smile at him and kissed his lips
"Sugar pie, I've never been more ready in my life. Let's nail these assholes."
They watched as the men ran up to the cruiser; taking Lonnie and Frankie out with pistols pointed low at their bodies. They walked up the stairs, disappearing into Sparta Headquarters.
Roach made sure they were in, and him and Reba quickly grabbed the shot guns out of the squad cars, making extra sure no one saw them, and no one came out. They piled them under the loose brush at the corner and slipped into the bushes, just slightly so they wouldn't be very noticeable to anyone walking from either direction, but could see anyone walking down the stairs.
"Did you get a hold of Butler County P.D.?" Roach whispered.
"No, It didn't go through."
"Keep trying. When you get a hold of them tell them go silent – no sirens, or shit could get real, real fast just like-" Roach stopped and looked across the street. "Wait – who the hell are they?" Reba followed his eyes, looking ahead, then at Roach, her eyes wide.
"Sugar pie, I think it just got very real." They both grabbed a shot gun from the brush and cocked it, waiting, and watching them head east toward the back parking lot of the station.
------------------------------------------------------------
When they brought Frankie and Lonnie to the basement cell block, Lonnie was thrown in the cell with the rest of Sparta P.D. and Frankie was kept out. Two men held her arms with one hand and pointed their guns at her with another. Lonnie gripped the bars of the cell so hard his hands and fingers were turning red and purple.
"Get your hands off her." He spat at them. They smirked at him and looked ahead.
The phones the men collected before they were locked in the cells were in a bag on the far table near the fingerprinting and photo station. All of them started vibrating in unison and the bag fell off the table and cracked when it hit the ground. One of the men left Frankies side to pick the bag up off the floor, and a bullet breezed by her face, and right through the head of the other like butter. He dropped to the floor with a thump as blood pooled around him.
"I do so dislike when my orders are not followed as I have explained them. Did I not say, 'You men will stay by her side and not leave her side for any reason?" All the men spoke a unanimous 'yes' in unison and David smiled. He loved control so much, it was his drug.
Frankie wasn't afraid for herself, but she feared what David would do to Lonnie. She knew after the beating he got the last time, he wouldn't just let it go, he would want revenge in the worst way. She would do anything to keep him alive and away from this psychopath.
Lonnie's face was full of rage and hate. Bubba and Sweet were whispering to him, telling him to stay calm, she'll be okay, but he didn't hear a thing. He felt helpless locked in the cell while she was out there - with him. 'Think' he told himself to calm the rage that was coming up too fast for his liking 'What's the angle? What does he want?'
"Oh Lieutenant, we meet again, I was hoping I'd have a chance to see you before we left." He stood in front of Frankie, the two men still holding her arms with guns pointed at her stomach. He smirked at Lonnie, and pulled her face to his and kissed her right in front of him, his tongue snaking inside her mouth and Frankie recoiling in disgust at him, turning her head and spitting on the floor.
"GET YOUR FACE AWAY FROM HER! DON'T YOU EVER TOUCH HER!"
Lonnie screamed, losing his composure briefly before his mind slapped him out of it and Bubba and Parker pulled him away from the bars. "He's playing with you." Bubba whispered. "Don't let him."
Lonnie took a deep breath and glared at David. 'This time' he thought to himself 'I will make sure I finish the job instead of leaving you half alive'.
"Lieutenant, Lieutenant..." David tisked, "So much anger from a man of the law; I would have thought an officer to have much better control of themselves." He flicked his wrist and the cell door was opened and he was yanked out and pushed onto his knees in front of Frankie.
"I owe you much more than this, but-." David hauled off and hit Lonnie in the face with the handle of his gun and his skin popped open and bled down his shirt.
"NO! DAVID LEAVE HIM ALONE!"
Frankie screamed and struggled to free herself. He hit him again, and again. More men held him down on his knees, blood gushing from his face from large open wounds. They punched and kicked him relentlessly. All the officers, OPS and Bill and Virgil crammed up against the cell with their arms stretched out screaming as they watched Lonnie being beat by multiple men at once.
"YOU COWARDS!" Bubba yelled at them as they wiped his blood off their hands.
Frankie was in tears, this had to end. "DAVID STOP!" David flicked his wrist again and the men backed away from Lonnie. When they moved back he fell to the floor.
"LONNIE!' Frankie yelled and tried to get to him but the barrel of the pistol lodged in her stomach stopped her. He was groaning on the floor, and Sparta P.D. were trying to get him to answer them back to assess how bad it was; asking if he could hear them, where he was...
David strolled up to Frankie and put his hand on her cheek, she had to control herself so she didn't jerk his hand away. She would rather slide down razor blades into a bowl of lemon juice and salt then have his hands anywhere on her, but she had to play it out to keep his attention away from Lonnie.
"My dear Francesca" He began, his hand still on her cheek as bile creeped up from her stomach to her mouth. "You know what I want." He walked away and sat casually in a chair close to Lonnie, who was now kneeling on the floor with his head bowed down.
She knew. He wanted her.
Hopelessness overcame her, she had to give herself to David willingly to save Lonnie; He was her everything, the only man she will ever love in this life, the only man she has ever loved in any life, her heart crushed in a million pieces. Through her tears she looked up, and David swayed his hand and she was released. He was pleased, he had broken her down. Her obvious sadness almost too much for even for him bare. Now, she would do anything he wanted – and he wanted things from her...He looked her up and down, licking his lips at the thought.
"If I go with you" Her voice raspy and tear filled, "Will you let him live?" Yells and protests from the cell roared out as all the OPS agents screamed at Frankie not to do this.
"Will you let him live?" Tears fell off her face onto the floor.
David walked around her like a cat eyeing up a mouse for dinner. He placed his hand on his chin and smiled.
"I will let him live if - you tell him you want me, and you only love me. Tell him you choose me over him." Frankie sobbed quietly, walking over to Lonnie and kneeling down beside him. She looked at his face and broke out in tears, all she wanted to do was hold him.
"Frank...ie" He muttered to her, some blood coming out of his mouth as he spoke. She bent down to hear him, still crying. "Don't...don't go..don't..."
"I love you so much...I'm so sorry.." She whispered and David yanked her up and backhanded her face, rage turning his face red.
"TELL HIM NOW!"
"Lonnie," she wiped her nose and cheeks on her shirt. "I..I don't want you..." She was balling, and the screams from the jail cell suddenly became nonexistent. "I...I want David. He's the one..."
"...And Lieutenant," He wrapped his arms around her waist so he would see it, then bent down to Lonnie's ear and whispered into it, "You see Lieutenant, I always win. When I take Francesca, I will have my men shoot you in the head, And when we're on the plane, I will take her, and she will scream my name. That's because Lieutenant, I always win." Lonnie lifted his head and spat in David's face.
"I'll see you soon David." Lonnie grinded his teeth at him and he laughed in his face. "Oh, I doubt that very much." and stood up, grabbing Frankie's arm and walking to the door for upstairs.
"Lonnie!" He reached out for her, tiny tears fell down his face, washing some of the blood off, leaving small stripes down his cheeks. His heart was empty - broke so badly nothing would fix it except her back safe with him. The last time David took her he couldn't stop him. He promised her today he would always protect her, and he would be Goddamned if he was going to break that promise. He watched her arms flail as David forced her through the door, and Lonnie was grabbed by three men, who roughly propped him up to watch.
Hanging on one of the chairs was a jacket from one of the men. On the ground under the pocket, Lonnie saw a set of keys. He blinked a few times trying to get the blood and sweat out of his eyes, but he was sure they were one of the sets to the cells. He took a deep breath, and waited.
Marty stood back beside Virgil near the cot against the wall. She said nothing, and used her eyes to show him her phone and the message from Reba. Virgil looked at her and shook his head. She pointed to her jeans and rolled them up. There was a pocket with a zipper on the inside of her pant leg on the inner most on the left side. When they checked everyone for their phone, they didn't check there. He read the text again, then pulled on Bubba's sleave, giving him a quick neck jerk to come to the back. Bubba read the text and discreetly pulled on Bill's sleave. He read it, and nodded his head.
Marty walked to the front of the cell and pushed her face close to the bars, watching as the doors to the cell block opened slowly. She turned back to Virgil, and Virgil nodded to Bill and Bubba. Everyone yelling was just the distraction they needed, as the men slammed the bars with their guns and yelled back, completely preoccupied.
Lonnie was on his knees on the floor, and the three men that weren't yelling at the officers and OPS, pulled out their guns and aimed them at his head. Everyone gasped and the hollering stopped, replaced with pleads for them to reconsider; to not do this.
"Do you have any last words for your colleagues." Lonnie looked up, and something caught his eye...movement. He saw something at the door but the blood made it blurry. Someone was there, he was sure of it, he had to give them time.
"I do have something to say."
"Then do it." The safeties on the guns all clicked off at the same time.
Turning to the cell, Lonnie looked up at them and Sweet shushed everyone. His eyes quickly darted to the door and Sweet looked at him with recognition that he got it, moving back toward Bill and Virgil. Lonnie tried to fully face them and he was pulled back closer to David's men.
"If you're gonna shoot me, I wanna talk to them for the last time. These people are like my family. Can I do that?" The men seemed to respond nicely to him asking permission. 'Just what I wanted' Lonnie thought, and they allowed him to continue, guns still pointed at his head.
He sighed, trying to waste time. "I want to tell y'all-"
Bullets whipped past Lonnie's head and he hit the floor, crawling on the tile trying to reach the keys. He was flipped over and one of the men tried to put his gun to Lonnie's face and he grabbed his hand, turning it toward the side and he smacked him with it knocking him off. Lonnie yanked the gun from his hands and shot him as he lunged for it. He grabbed the keys and threw them across the floor and under the cell. Dee picked them up and quickly unlocked the door as more bullets flew through the air, hitting every one of David's men. Their lifeless bodies slumped over chairs, desks and themselves.
Tons more men poured into the cell block after the others finished off the rest of David's men, and pointed their weapons at the officers and OPS. They put their hands up, not knowing what this would lead too, or who these people were.
Kaczynski walked into the cell block with his hands on the lapels of a fresh, charcoal grey Armoni suit. He nodded his head in approval at the carnage, then lowered his arm and his men lowered their weapons. He walked toward Bill and Virgil, and stopped in front of them.
"I had a score to settle, and I did so. My debt to this organization is repaid. I will be on my way; I'm sure you knew I would not stay for questions."
"No" Bill began "I reckon we knew you wouldn't. What debt did you owe us?" Bill was genuinely curious, because he honestly hadn't the slightest clue.
"My debt of respect. You respected me, you listened instead of reacting when I first came here, because of who I am; so now, I respected you. Taking care of this filth for you; my debt is paid" He turned to his men and they came around him as he walked back to the stairs. "I expect no police engagement when my men and I leave here." It wasn't a question.
"No. No you won't" Bill knew despite everything, he had to let this one go.
"The woman-" Lonnie stood up, slipping in his own blood before regaining his balance.
"Frankie!-"
"Come, you will see" Kaczyinski commanded.
Everyone in the cell ran to the stairs, crowding the small entrance up, impatient to get their weapons and deliver a little pay back to the man and his men who caused so much chaos to their town and the good people in it. They couldn't wait for some well-deserved payback.

David pushed Frankie in the back seat and told the driver to roll up the privacy screen that separated the front from the back as they pulled out.
"I said I would take you on the plane, but you just look so delicious, I think I'll take you now." David lunged at her, grabbing her and Frankie thought she was going to vomit. She pushed him off and he backhanded her face for the second time, this time leaving a gash on her lip.
"You belong to me" He grabbed her long hair and smushed his lips on hers and she bit them. He was about to hit her again when her hands went to his face, and he froze. She ran them down his skin, it took everything she had not to openly gag, but she had to make him believe this. She moved closer to him, and he watched her, not moving. She knew he was suspicious, but she also knew he liked it, and that was her in. His lips parted, and Frankie kissed his cheek. He finally closed his eyes as he felt her so close to him, it's what he wanted. David was still pointing the gun at her when he opened his eyes, and stared at her face.
"You know what I want. Now do it." She began to unbutton her shirt and he watched her like a rabid dog. She pulled her shirt apart just enough so he could see her cleavage. He licked his lips and Frankie threw up in her mouth a little bit at the sight.
"How are you going to have me with a gun pointed at me David? Do you want to hurt me?"
He looked insulted. "Now Francesca, you know I've never hurt you - only disciplined you as necessary. Now - come here-" He pushed her down on the seat, flopping his skinny, unmuscular body on top of hers in a spaztic, unorganized frenzy of disgusting and she was repulsed.
Suddenly the SUV came to a screeching halt, and jerked David and Frankie to the floor, knocking the gun out of his hand. Frankie dug her teeth in the side of his neck and he screamed as she tore a small piece of flesh from the side. He elbowed her face hard and her nose gushed blood on his suit, both struggled for the gun. The back doors flung open and a man yanked David out by his hair.
"FRANKIE – GO!" She looked up in utter surprise and relief. Roach wrestled David to the ground, punching his face with two swift hits to slow him down before pulling his arms behind his back. Kaczynski's men pointed their pistols at his head, while another grabbed the shot gun from the front seat and handed it to Roach. They nodded and he cocked it, aiming it at David's temple.
She ran blindly down the street then stopped in the middle of the road, completely confused. She was in between the clock tower and the station; but she was in the SUV for a long time...
"Come on girl whattcha standing in the road for!" Reba yanked Frankie's arm and pulled her to the sidewalk and into the alley. "Do up your shirt." Seeing she was confused Reba explained. "Roach was drivin' honey, he just drove up and down and around." She smiled. "Do it up girl!" Frankie buttoned up frantically.
"Reba-" She hugged her and held her arms. "We have to get Lonnie! He's in there, the station-" She was distraught and Reba took her by the hands.
"Don't worry 'bout him sugar, he's just fine." Reba handed her a one of the two guns she got from Kaczynski's men. "He is, trust me, you gonna see in a minute. Now, you ready? Let's go kick some ass." Her eyes lit up and she turned down the alley, and Frankie followed behind, praying he was okay.
Lonnie saw Roach with the shot gun pointed at David's head at the edge of Sparta Square and just stared. All the rage, all the hate bubbled up like molten lava and his whole body shook. All the times he thought of David putting his hands on her, how he watched him backhand her beautiful face and put his tongue in her mouth, all the times he took her away from him - He took her away...Roach saw him running up and he got off David, and Kaczynski's men backed up to their cars. They left Roach with a nod, and smiled, knowing that the man running toward them with rage on his face will make David's time to live on this earth very short.
"Lonnie, you packin'? Lonnie-" He still had the shot gun pointed at his head.
"I ain't without a weapon." He didn't look at Roach as he spoke, just stared at David.
"Frankie's with Reba." He looked over at him and Roach saw his entire body relax. "Their good my friend." He patted him on the back and ran toward the rest of the OPS team that were either restraining and holding, or pounding the rest of David's men.
He bent down and picked David up by his neck and lifted him with both hands so far up only his toes were touching the pavement. He gurgled and scratched at Lonnie trying to get air.
The cop in him said 'cuff him, throw him in jail and wait to see what the judge says'. The man in him said 'he took her away from you. He's done it twice, he'll do it again.' He placed him down and he quickly sucker punched Lonnie in the face and he fell back. David pulled out his gun and Lonnie shot him twice in the throat. He went down holding the holes in his neck as the blood trickled through his fingers onto his expensive suit.
"You made the choice easy." He said, and rolled David over with his foot, looking at his dead eyes staring into the sky.
"LONNIE!"
He turned around to see Frankie running over to him. It was the best thing he had ever seen in his life. She wrapped her arms so tight around his neck it was hard to breath, she kissed his entire face over and over, her lips red from the blood left there. He just stood there - holding her, and loving the feel of her lips all over him. He felt warm and peaceful with her; completely content.
"Are you hurt?" He was finally able to speak after all her kisses.
"No." She kissed him again. Lonnie saw blood on her face and shirt that had dried.
"Are you sure?" He wiped it off with his thumb.
"Yes." She kept kissing his face.
"Darlin' – Frankie." He pulled her arms off his neck and she looked at him.
"What?" She paused "You've never called me darlin' before. I like it."
"He smiled, "Darlin'. We have to get out of the road, I don't want you hurt." She looked around and realized they were indeed in the middle of the road. Dee and Luann ran over to them, looking at David's body on the pavement and scoffing before it was taken away.
"Good riddance - damn fool." Luann rolled her eyes then turned to Lonnie and Frankie. "You two okay?" they nodded and she put her hands on her hips. "Wouldn't be a bad idea to get yourselves checked out..."
"Agreed" Dee said, "Those gashes may need to be stitched, and it'd be a good idea to get some x-rays, just to make sure." They turned to walk away and Frankie grabbed her mid-section and buckled over slightly, a sharp pain rippled through her, and left as soon as it came.
"Frankie-" Lonnie held her arms, and Dee and Luann came back. "Let's get you checked out; better safe than sorry." Dee looked at her with raised brows.
She went to protest and Lonnie cut her off "You're goin'. No choice, that's the deal." His deep, manly voice made her knees rubbery and she sighed. He wrapped his arm around her waist and walked her to the squad car, Luann and Dee giggling at how he was all over her; how protective he was. They had never seen this side of Lonnie, and both agreed it was just the cutest thing.
"A southern man in love."' Luann said looking at Dee as Lonnie gently put Frankie in the back squad car and bucked her in, then went around and got in the other side.
"Yep, there ain't nothin' better." Dee smiled and her and Luann got in the car, heading to Newman County Hospital.
