Summer vacation is almost here (or might already be here for some lucky people!)...and romance is in the air! Maybe it's the sunshine, maybe it's the smell of the sea or the hot asphalt, maybe it's the melting ice-cream in your mouth? Who knows, but we have a contest to announce and we are excited to see what romantic dilemmas you come up with!

The theme is summer lovin': your setting is not your usual living arrangements, it's specifically a kind of place you go to or an activity that happens in summer.

The romance: you fall for the last person you ever thought you'd fall for, or someone who is completely wrong for you.

The story: you choose what to put in your story, it can be how you fall in love, what happens while you are in love, or how you are worried it can't last after the end of summer!

Length: 1,500 words maximum

Extended Due date: 13 August, 2019, at 12 midnight in the last time zone of the world (lol, just turn it in before midnight wherever you are or an hour two after that, and you'll be fine.)

Specific prompts:

You don't have to choose a specific prompt, as long as you choose the theme, romance and story suggestions above, but if you need a few ideas, or want something more specific, then feel free to use our prompts as a jumping off point!

1. A bottle with a message in it washes up on shore, but you have to get it out of some stuck-up snob's hands, who thinks he (or she, or they) found it first!

2. You are calmly walking your dog on a mountain hiking path, when another dog runs over, wanting to play. Worse - your dog is only too happy to hang out with this interloper and now the insufferable owner is tagging along, too. These dogs seem determined to keep everyone together, and you can't stand it. What is this, 101 Dalmatians? You are determined not to let a canine conspired romance interrupt your dream vacation.

3. The only thing you love more than cross-word puzzles, is competing in the annual sand-castle contest. But this year, the competition is seriously...hot.

4. Yes, you were having difficulty staying above water. Yes, you appreciate being saved from drowning. But no, you will not go to dinner with the person who rescued you - who just also happens to be a blast from the past.

5. It's a real problem - the ice-cream truck boy/girl keeps getting your order wrong, plus they just drove off with your backpack. You'd be angry, but they are so cute...and dating your best friend.

6. Talk about summer lovin'...you just met the most amazing person, and for the first time ever you've had a one night stand. The next morning, you run off, embarrassed. The only thing you know about the person is that they work at one of the concession stands in the traveling carnival.
