Shouldn't Have Asked by Mara Lynne: A Review

Shouldn't Have Asked is the first book of the trilogy. If you are a fan of new adult and love triangles, you will love this book. But wait! This is not just a love triangle rather a love quadrangle!

The book was written in present tense and gave you that 'into the moment' feeling. Because present tense is so rare, it creates a surreal feeling, almost dreamlike and most of the time hard to pull off. I'll give it to the author, she did a great job narrating it on present tense.

Angel Mohr, a straight A student was forced to ask Damien Etheridge, the son of the mayor, student council president and a known notorious playboy, to have sex with her to help with her school expenses and her father's medical treatment.

She ran away and cursed herself immediately after asking him that stupid question.

Her gay best friend Ray is definitely not on her camp and he was even willing to loan her with all his money and ditch his travel plans with his boyfriend.

Though I love Ray...seriously "The Gay Best Friend" has got to go. It's a dated stereotype that, ultimately, does more harm than good to the story.

What do you know? Damien got so curious to our poor Cinderella. And that my dear was the start of the fall of the badboy. Specially when they almost did the deed. Almost!

There you have it! One of the famous cliché of all time: unaware of being attractive nerdy girl with bangs made a bad boy/player fall in love with her.

Did I say it was a love guadrangle in the beginning?

There's Dr. Eric Martin, the helpful doctor who made sure to take care of Angel's dad to the utmost of his ability. Specially throwing suggestive glances and knowing smiles to Angel.

Colin, the ugly-duckling-childhood-friend-turned-greek-god, who always hangs around the diner to defend Angel against Damien.

And oh Hunter! You don't know anything about this guy, do you? He is the billionaire who hired Angel to be his escort and pretend as Angel Grant, his girlfiend, in front of the press people.

Sadly, the last few chapters of the wattpad version of this book was taken down so we never get to know Hunter more.

Fortunately, I was able to finish it before she took it down! Bwahaha! But I'm not going to give out spoilers. Just a hint maybe?

Hmmm...

It ended on a cliffhanger...

You do?

Okay.

Hunter and Damien are related to each other.

This book had such a HUGE potential but I found this to be fluffy and full of stereotypes. The heroine can be frustrating at times.

Shouldn't Have Asked is now available on Amazon for purchase! Congratulations Mara Lynne to her debut novel!
