|52| Roger That
Nicole
It was late at night, somewhere around midnight and I was laying in bed, not being able to get some decent shut-eye. I had so much on my mind and after meeting with our mechanical engineers, the Coach Jackson situation was now second on my to-do list.
Smalls triggered my curiosity when he told me that they had already sent our spies out with higher advanced cameras that should be attached to Fire's home, car, and even some of her clothing by now. It was all done quickly and efficiently while she wasn't home. Rebecca also called earlier about a new message she hacked from Simon's phone and was going to let me listen to it during the meeting.
We were making some serious progress. At this rate, we might be able to travel to Europe before Fire could move on to her next stop.
Those new cameras are what I'm really looking forward to seeing at this moment. I could finally get a live look on what's really going on in that home and possibly make out what plans she has been working on. Before, we only had normal cameras that weren't very clear and were only located outside of the home. Now we could be able to see the outside and inside of the home in higher definition!
Screw it, I'm going.
I quietly and carefully lifted myself off of the bed, trying not to wake Jaden up. I kind of felt bad for not being able to spend the quality time he asked for earlier but I'm sure he understands that we were way too busy to get home early enough. We were both extremely exhausted from work and I knew he needed to sleep more than I did. I'll go alone for a few minutes then I'll be back before he wakes up.
I grabbed the keys from the drawer and headed out of the room, making little noise. Then I hurried downstairs on my tiptoes, going towards the door.
The quick sounds of footsteps alerted me, making me duck behind the couch. I knew it was Jerry. His flashlight turned on and he scanned the floors and walls to see through the darkness. As he came near the couch I was hiding behind, I moved slowly to the other side, following behind him as he made his way around.
While his back was still turned, I swiftly moved closer to the door and ducked behind the kitchen wall.
He sighed and scratched his butt before turning his flashlight off and heading back to his room to sleep.
Close one...
I quietly opened the front door and headed out, locking the door behind me.
Next step, find what that bitch, Fire Catcher, is doing with my father...
Quickly, I rushed over to my car, pulling out my keys then starting it and began speeding off on the road. I needed to make this quick so no one back home will worry about me. I only want to check out those cameras for a little while and make sure they're recording so we can analyze the tapes during the meeting and so I could see what environment we're working with for the mission. Our members have been working outstandingly hard for this. I feel like they are more than ready to take on the challenge and get sent down to Italy... And I know for a fact that I am too.
Once I've reached headquarters and parked my car in the dark shadows of the building, I headed over to the large doors, scanned my key card to open them, and entered the building to make my way straight to the meeting room. That's where our primary spy cameras were connected to. I'm pretty sure that the new ones were connected there too.
Shortly enough, I got to the room and noticed that the lights were already turned on as I walked inside. It was probably just one of our night shift members but you know what? You could never be too cautious. I reached into my pocket with my hand on my pistol as I walked to the back room where the cameras were.
As I got closer, the sound of someone typing on a keyboard gradually grew louder. That's when I realized that it really was just another member...
Dani.
She glanced over at me then back at her computer, "Well, if it isn't Miss Steals A Lot... I didn't know you were on night duty too."
I crossed my arms and walked in, narrowing my eyes at her computer screen, "I'm not. Neither are you... What are you working on anyway?"
"Just some research... I found Fire's address." she turned her chair to face me, "She's living in a cruddy little house away from the city."
"Really..." I walked around her table to check out those cameras. "Have you seen anything suspicious on here?"
"Nope. Not anything yet. The home has been a little quiet right now. "
I nodded and sat on the edge of the table to watch. Italy was in a different time zone than us so it was still pretty bright where they were. It was easy to tell that with the more HD cameras that were recently installed.
My attention was mainly focused on the cameras inside of Fire's home. I could see all of the different rooms in her house except for the bathroom.
I know it's illegal to invade someone's privacy like this but we needed to. It's the only way to find and bring Simon back.
Something moved on one of the cameras. At first, I could only see the shadow moving around then a few seconds later, Lady Dream appeared on the screen. She was walking towards one of the bedrooms with a large purse in her hand.
Is anyone else with her?
I searched the other cameras until I saw another figure moving, "Simon... That's him!" I hopped off of the table and moved in closer to the screen.
Dani walked over to my side, "Yeah, I noticed that he's been moving around the house a lot. Not sure what he's been doing though."
I watched silently.
He headed to the living room, where that snake, Fire Catcher, was working on her computer with a sad kid in her lap. That's not a good sign. She probably stole her from her recent show's audience.
Simon looked at her computer screen then began to speak with her.
I couldn't tell what it was that they were discussing about but it looked pretty serious from his body language. "Do these cameras have a sound feature?" I asked.
Dani shrugged, "You're going to have to ask either those engineers or the tech crew."
I nodded and faced the screen again. It seemed like Simon and Fire were getting into a little argument.
She yelled at him for a few more minutes before she suddenly slapped him across his face, making the kid cry at the dispute.
"That bitch..." I glared.
Simon only held his face as she continued to yell. I sneered at the screen, watching her slap him again and dropped the kid to yank Simon by his shirt.
"Fight back, Simon..."
Dani shook her head at the screen, "This isn't right... We need to start heading down to Europe now, Nicole... What if she's planning something dangerous on that computer?"
I glared, "We could do that but that'll just set us up for a huge risk of an ambush."
She looked me sternly in the eyes, "He's over there, on his own, with a psychopath. How long are you going to wait to make the right move? When he's dead?"
I watched as Fire tried to hit Simon with a flower vase but he quickly caught her hands. He looked around for a moment then told her something in her ear before placing a kiss on her lips.
I quickly turned away, feeling burning anger and sour disgust build up inside me, "Dammit... Dammit! You're right, Dani!"
I headed out of the camera room and sat heavily on the meeting table with Dani following behind. I gulped in my screams and calmly told her, "If we wait too long, there will be no time to stop her from doing the damage she plans on doing... There's a pattern in her plan. It's fast and requires her to constantly move and change things around. We'll just have to risk facing some unpredictable challenges... It's the only way."
She nodded, "Let's start tomorrow... Send an alert to all of our headquarters around the map. We need them to protect the lives of innocent people in each city. This is war, the last thing we need is to be responsible for hundreds, even thousands of casualties..."
I agreed, "You read my mind... This is war. And it's going to be one hell of a hot mess... A mess that'll be completely worth making. While I alert the other headquarters, I want you to let our agents know about the change of plans... The quicker they prepare, the better."
She smirked, "Roger... That..."
