NOVA WAS stood by the door next to her now boyfriend lucas at the sinclair household. erica was stood next to charles and sue, his parents, waiting to say goodbye to her since it was getting late and they were all going to the movie theatre.

"well, it's was great to have finally met you, nova. lucas spoke a lot about you." sue smiled as nova returned it, rasing a brow at lucas who groaned, "mom!"

"you too, mrs. sinclair, thank you for the invite." she smiled as lucas got his bag.

"well, we should get going. don't want to miss it!" he dragged nova out before she could say goodbye, sue and charles chuckling at them as erica shook her head and complained about how she needed to go to the starcourt mall immediately with her friends.

"sorry about them." lucas sighed as they got on their bikes, nova laughed, shaking her head.

"it's fine. they're lovely." she took one hand off her bike to hold his hand, giving it a squeeze before placing both hands back on the handle bars as they biked to starcourt, a new mall that had just opened up.

they greeted max and will with hugs, and put their bikes into the bike rack, max had skated there and joyce byers had dropped will off. "you good, max?" nova wrapped an arm around he sister.

"yeah, just billy being an asshole." max chuckled as nova rolled her eyes, "when is he not? just ignore him."

after a while of hearing will and lucas' complaints, mike finally arrived as they all huffed in annoyance. "you're late!" lucas spoke, his hands intertwined with nova's.

"sorry." mike spoke, slightly out of breath as he put away his bike. "again!" lucas repeated as nova laughed at him.

"we're gonna miss the opening." will complained.

"yeah, if you guys keep whining about it! let's go." mike scoffed, lucas pulled a face.

"if you guys keep whining about it, nyeh-nyeh-nyeh." lucas mocked, causing nova to laugh at him.

"just stop talking, dude." mike sighed as they walked into the mall.

"let me guess, you were busy." he made kissing noises as mike groaned.

"oh, yeah, real mature, lucas."

" 'oh, el, i wish we could make out forever, and never hang out with any of our friends'!" lucas mocked again as nova giggled slightly.

"lucas, stop." she spoke between laughter.

"you think it's funny, you're laughing. and so does max and will!" he pointed as will chuckled, "because it is." max has rolled her eyes, shaking her head with a chuckle.

"yeah, it's so funny that i want to spend romantic time with my girlfriend." mike shook his head as lucas raised his and nova's intertwined fingers and waved them in mikes face as nova shook her head, amused. "i'm spending romantic time with my girlfriend." nova smiled up at him, pressing a kiss onto his lips as will groaned

the small group reached the escalators and pushed their way through, mumbling apologies as the people yelled at them, they got off it, and nova huffed at all the people before tapping lucas' arm, noticing erica was there.

"watch it!" a girl snapped as mike bumped into her, "yeah, watch it, nerds!" erica snapped as they all looked at her .

"isn't it past your bedtime?" lucas raised his brows, his arm still wrapped around nova's back.

"isn't it time you die?" erica fired back as nova raised her brows in shock.

"psycho!" lucas scoffed, "butthead!" erica yelled back, "mall rat!" he argued as nova and max shared a look at his childishness. "fart face!" erica called out as he blew a raspberry at her.

nova scoffed slightly and tugged on lucas' hand, "oh, now that was mature." she rolled her eyes, chuckling as they went into scoops ahoy, greeting robin buckley by mike dinging the bell multiple times.

"hey, dingus! your children are here." robin called out, a few moments later, steve appeared with a sigh, "again? seriously?" mike smirked and dinged the bell in response.

steve ushered them out to the back as they all jogged down out the storage room, "c'mon, hurry up...and if anybody here's about this—" he exclaimed, ruffling novas hair.

"we're dead!" they all finished as he shook his head with a smile.

mike opened the back door to the theatre, and nodded, "all clear." they made their way inside and into one of the rooms to watch the teaser of day of the dead.

the group all stumbled past people, trying to find free seats and mumbling apologies once again as nova sat in the middle with lucas on one side and max on the other, will and mike sat next to each other behind them.

"see, lucas? we made it." mike whispered, lucas huffed, "yeah, but we missed the previews."

"still made it. fart face." nova smirked at him as he poked his tongue out at her and she grinned, holding onto his hand once more and resting her head on his shoulder.

will passed them all the snacks as the movie started, the group watching in interest. nova and lucas shared a bag of popcorn, and he handed her some skittles which she thanked him quietly.

after a few moments, the crowd began to yell complaints as the movie stopped, and nova groaned quietly, as did the others. "stupid. i bet in fifty years this type of shit wouldn't happen cause everything would be so advanced." max complained.

"i bet we'd be able to time travel. and fly." nova smirked.

the whole mall must've went off, since they could hear the muffled yells from the public. the darkness went on for a few moments as nova noticed will seemed to be frozen, and she felt as if something bad was happening. the lights and the movie turned back on soon after and cheers filled the room as nova and lucas grinned at each other.

unfortunately, lucas had gotten scared at a jumpscare and shrieked his girly scream, and threw the popcorn into the air, causing it to go all over him, nova and max as they all groaned.

"you have to ruin everything with that stupid scream of yours." max complained.
