Within just a few short hours, and some lighter clothes put on, Kaldur found himself standing on the beach, looking at Raquel, in the sunset light. Her dark, short hair looked stunning, especially paired with the dark royal purple bikini she had on, and her chocolate colored skin sparkled with it as well. He knew he had to tell her the truth eventually, about him working alongside Manta, but he also did not want to lose her, like he had lost Tula. She was everything he could have wished for. She was everything Tula hadn't been for him, and more. Coming up behind her, he placed his dark, strong hands on her abdomen, and whispered, "Raquel, I know this is a time for us to be close, but there is something I must disclose with you...and only you." She responded kindly, "Yeah, okay, Kaldur. Tell me. What do you need to talk to me about?" He sighed, and turned her around, so that his piercing seafoam greenish blue eyes met her brown ones with a kindness only one could wish for in a fairy tail.
Looking at her, he said, "While I was away, I was not with My King. I met my father. He took me aboard his ship, and he told me what had happened in my past, and his past as well. My mother was also there, and she did not appear to be in distress. In fact, she seemed quite calm for whom she was with." Raquel listened intently, her eyes taking in every move his body made, and registering it to be some huge reveal later on. Kaldur stated, "While I was away, my father, I learned is Black Manta. My King I have listened to, and fought side by side with, has lied to me my entire life, and came up with the story that he had been removed from Atlantis."
"Oh Kal...", Raquel whispered softly, touching his cheeks with her hands, and holding them soft in her grasp, "I-I'm so sorry..." The taller Atlantian responded, "That is not all. My father believes, as does my mother, that I should side with them...in the next war. He says I should not trust someone who has lied to me for my whole life, and during my training to become Aqualad. I do not know which direction to take. I have a foot on both sides, the good and dark. For once, I do not have the mentality to make a decision. I am clueless on what to do." Raquel watched his face, and saw it filled with worry. No wonder he had been distracted lately! She said, "We will figure this out, and I am sure you will know the right answer in your heart, Kaldur. Whether you belong to the good, or belong to the dark, you will still be Kaldur'ahm, the protégé to Aquaman, my boyfriend, and the best leader the Team has had yet. Trust your own judgement, and I will be with you through every decision, to support you." Kaldur smiled softly, and kissed her cheek, then said, "Thank you, Raquel, for being by my side." She blushed slightly, and then gestured for them to sit in the sand, and enjoy the picnic basket M'gann had prepared. He did, and together, they dined in delight.
That very night, after they had returned to the Cave, and everyone else was in their beds asleep, Kaldur got up. He still had to think of a plan for how to stop the Injustice League, as well as M'gann's ex, who still seemed to be a part of the playing field. As he sat in the kitchen, looking at files, he heard a sudden, blood curdling scream, then a thud, and finally, a smash of something glass! Hearing that it came from M'gann's room, he bolted up, and ran into her room, where Conner stood shocked with surprise, at the Martian, who looked terrified. A lamp that had been on her side-table, now lay on the ground, by the wall, severely broken, and her bedsheets were strewn in a heap.
Everyone else who had been asleep in their rooms, came to her room, when they heard her scream, their eyes officially wide with worry. Kaldur asked, "M'gann, what is wrong? Why did you scream?" The Martian shook so vividly, and she went invisible. She turned to Conner, who then became enraged, and told him, and the others, "T'orr D'eii is back, and he delivered a message to her, in her sleep." Taking a breath, he relayed for her, "M'gann says that T'orr said he's coming back to get what's rightfully his, and he will be prepared for a war. He said that we have no chance to claim victory, as he's seen we have not been preparing one bit." "B-but how? How can anyone see what's going on here, without being here themselves?", Wally asked. Robin face palmed, and stated, "The cameras that are all around the Cave...He's got inside access to them all. He knows everything. That's why he's been silent; he's waiting for a time to strike, when we're weakest." "Then we show him we mean business. Right now. We have to get ready.", Conner growled, "I don't want M'gann to be hurt by him ever again." Raquel took ahold of Kaldur's arm, and said, "Then that is what we do." The Atlantian nodded once, and said, "Yes. We prepare now. Everyone, get in your suits; we are going to work on combat and train to win."
As everyone left the room, to do as Kaldur had said, he stayed behind to make sure M'gann was okay. Coming over to her, he asked, "M'gann? I understand he invaded your mind, and that you may need some time... If you do wish, you can hold off training until tomorrow, when your mind is a bit less occupied." The Martian went back to being visible, and said quietly, "No thanks, Kaldur. This is my battle. I'm the one he's after, and I'm likely the one that'll be fighting against him mentally. I need to prepare, just as the others prepare physically. And I want to have an advantage, so no, I don't need to wait. I'll come right now." She got up, and left the room without another word. Kaldur watched her, then left the room himself, and headed for the training room. When he got there, he saw everyone dressed in their suits, ready to begin. He said, "Now that we are all here, let us begin."
