Chapter 10:
A/N: Finally, I am able to update this book again. So much has gone on, but I came up with some info to use, while swimming in the pool yesterday with my sister, since prior, I was drawing a blank. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy the next segment!
When they entered back into the room, Kaldur and Raquel sat at the meeting table, to look over the files and documents in further detail. The several documents on the table were all linked to some form of incident that had occurred in Atlantis, that dated back sixteen years prior, which would have put Kaldur as a newborn infant. As they studied them, Raquel picked up a file, and said, "Look at this... This is documented to have taken place a couple months after and in the year you were born. Don't you find that odd?" Kaldur took the file she had, and looked at it closely. It was a file concerning a rogue soldier from King Orin's guards. The rogue soldier, who had originally been in good sights with the king, was potentially a wreck, and disobeyed a direct order, during an investigation. Instead of keeping the person in suspect alive, the soldier had given him a deadly dose of lionfish poisoning, and the suspect had died, before he could be questioned and examined.
Kaldur said, after looking it over, "It does sound a bit odd that such a thing would have happened, under My King's watchful eye. I wonder why he has never spoken of this." "Maybe because when the soldier was found out for his crime, he fled, and went off the radar.", Raquel answered. She picked up another sheet of paper, and said, "Here's an article covering it. It says here that the rogue soldier left behind a wife and newborn son in Atlantis, because he feared they would be in danger, if they had any connection to him. The wife moved to the outskirts and kept a close rein of her son. It even says she never spoke of her husband to the child." Kaldur picked up the paper she had laid down, and said, pointing to the picture in the article, "There. That is my mother." Raquel looked up, and finished, "Then that makes you the child in the picture and file! You were there at the exact time and date, and your age and birth date matches up with the story. Kal, we may have just found our next link to where your mom is, and why you're tied in!" Kaldur nodded, and began to peel over the pages and files once more, trying to find out more that could be used.
He finally located something, about half an hour later. It was a file that was calling off the search for the soldier. There was no reason given, except that the path had run cold and dry. When Kaldur looked at the paper, he looked in the corner, and saw an underwater cave in the background, right behind the palace. A dark shadowy figure appeared to be entering it, and it led Kaldur to be curious. He said, pointing to the shadowy figure, "Raquel, how did I not see this before? There is a shadow, entering into an underwater cave. It looks incredibly suspicious." The girl responded, "You're right... that is suspicious. Why would anyone enter into a cave like that?" Kaldur said, "I do not know, but I am going to go look for evidence. If anyone asks, I went to Atlantis to see the new prince. He is quite young, but is adored by all." "Including you, I'm assuming?", Raquel chuckled. The Atlantian nodded again, and walked over to her. He gave her a kiss on the cheek, then said, "Get some rest. I will be fine." Raquel watched as he left.
When Kaldur had zeta'd back to Atlantis, he swam in the direction of the palace, but completely avoided it, and swam right to the cave. No one questioned his moves. When he got to its mouth, he swam inside, and popped his head up through the water. Inside, the cave had several beautiful rock formations and even some small crystals. It was massive and hollow, and there seemed to be many exits and entrances to different parts of it. Getting out of the water, he said to himself, in the echoey room, "Goodness, this is a massive set of tunnels and halls." The walls echoed back his words, and he started to walk down a south path. As he walked he could feel the sand below his feet. It was soft and wet, as if someone had recently emerged from the water, and was in front of him. Hearing a voice, he quickly followed it, and discovered it was Garth, sitting on the sandy ground, and putting together a shell necklace, that Kaldur assumed was for Tula. Suddenly, Garth asked, "Who is there?" "Garth, it is I, Kaldur.", he responded, coming out from behind the formations. When Garth saw Kaldur, the two hugged, as things had settled down between them.
Kaldur sat beside Garth, and asked, "Is that for Tula?" The other Atlantian responded, "Yes, her graduation from the school is coming up." Kaldur answered, "Then would you congratulate her for me? Something has come up with my friends, and while I do not want to miss her graduation, I am afraid I will not be able to make it." Garth nods, then stands. He helps Kaldur to his feet, then suddenly, his face looks twisted in pain. Garth falls to his knees, and drops unconscious, for standing right behind him with a taser, is Black Manta, and a few of his armed minions, with weapons.
Seeing the public enemy of his king, Kaldur quickly gets into defensive position, and throws a punch at the villain. Black Manta silently blocks his punch, and sends one to Kaldur's gut, where he still was quite sore. While he was cringing in pain, Manta stands above him, and says, to his soldiers, "Grab the Atlantian, would you? I need him for something." Suddenly, Kaldur feels the minions grab his arms, and hoist him up, so that his face is on level with Manta's. The criminal chuckles, then says, "Take him to the ship. I need to have a word with him. And be gentle. Atlantian skin and genetics, though firm, can be penetrated if given the right dosage of knockout poison." Feeling a quick prick, Kaldur sees his world become foggy. He tries to fight to stay awake, but sees that it is hopeless. Before he completely blacks, he sees himself being taken into a massive ship, and laid on a bed. There, is where his world goes cold and silent...for now.
