Chapter 1:
A/N: Thank you all for reading the last book, and for so much support in it! As a way to show my appreciation, I have decided to continue the series with this book!
It was a dark and stormy night. The kind of night that would make it nearly impossible for anyone to fall asleep, listening to the puttering rain. As such, Kaldur was awake in his room, at three a.m., listening to the rain on his window. Stretching in the pool in his floor, the Atlantian got out, and dried off, before heading outside of his room, to do a night check. It had always been his duty as leader to make one final check, to see that the Team was asleep. Carefully, he looked around, and noticed practically everyone's bedroom lights were off, all except one person's: Raquel's. Slowly, Kaldur walked up to the door, and knocked. Raquel, in the room, called, "Yes? Kaldur, is that you? Come on in. You don't have to knock. It's just me." Calmly, Kaldur opened the door, and found his girlfriend sitting on her bed, reading a book. Raquel looked up, and said, "Hey Kaldur!" Responding kindly, Kaldur asked, "Hi. Are you doing okay?" Raquel smiled widely, then replied, "I'm fine, Kal. Just not tired yet. Sounds like the storm's getting bad out there, and I couldn't sleep." Kaldur entered the room deeper, and sat at the foot of the bed. He said, "It does sound terrible out there, Raquel. Would you like to come into the kitchen with me? We could have some hot chocolate, and some time alone." Raquel let out a small laugh, then set her book down, and said, "Sure." Kaldur arose, and took his girlfriend's hand, then led her into the kitchen, where the rain could still be heard on the massive windows, overlooking the ocean.
Once they had the milk being warmed up for the hot chocolate, on the stove top, Kaldur and Raquel went to sit on the couch. Kaldur pulled his arm out from his side, and draped it over Raquel's shoulder gently, as she leaned onto his strong muscles. She sighed, and said, "Ah, now that feels real nice, Kal." Kaldur smiled, and looked down at Raquel's beautiful, brown cheeks, and her incredibly perfect nose. He then said, "If only we did not have to work on training to stop the Injustice League tomorrow. I would stay out here with you all night, if it were possible." Raquel responded, "I know you would, Kaldur 'ahm, but the last battle we fought, had several causalities. And you are team leader. If anyone could whip the Team into shape to defeat the enemy, it's you." "That is very kind of you to say, Raquel. I just have a great fear the enemy is preparing as well. We still have no idea where or when in the world they will strike next." Suddenly the timer buzzed that the milk was warm enough to be used. Kaldur excused himself, and went over to the pot, then ladled out two mugs full of milk. He went into the cabinet, and withdrew two packets of hot cocoa powder, and dumped a packet in each, and stirred. Then, he brought them over to the couch, and handed one to Raquel as he sat down.
Raquel sipped hers, and smiled as the chocolate hit her tongue. Pulling it away, she said, "So, Team leader, what is our first step into finding out where the Injustice League is?" Kaldur waved off the question, and asked, "Could we please not discuss that matter right now? All I would like, is to have a pleasurable and perfect date with my true love, Miss Raquel Ervin. Raquel smiled at Kaldur, then replied, her lips turning into a smirk, "Fine. Can I please have a kiss, boyfriend?" Kaldur nodded, and they shared yet another perfect kiss. Afterwards, Raquel pulled away, and replied, "Thank you." Instead of speaking for the rest of the time, Kaldur and Raquel drank their hot chocolate, listened to the rain fall, held their hands in each others', and just stared blindly in love with each other. When the mugs were empty, Kaldur rose, and took them to the sink, and began to wash them. Raquel asked, "Can I do anything to help you?" Kaldur responded, "I think things are pretty good here, Raquel. You should get some sleep, though, while you still can." The young teen responded, "Alright. I'll see you tomorrow morning, Kaldur." He answered back, "See you tomorrow, Raquel. Good night." Raquel left the room, and Kaldur found himself back in a feeling of peace and tranquility. He finished up washing the mugs, then instead of heading back to his room, he went straight for the Zeta-tubes, located in the practice room.
Upon arriving in the room, he quietly entered his number, and the destination he wished to go: Atlantis. The teleporter called out, "Recognized: Aqualad, B02" Kaldur stepped through the Zeta-tube, and when he made contact with the water, he immediately turned to swimming. He swam to Atlantis, and soon arrived at a beautiful underwater building, with Atlantian writing on the walls, that read, "All who pass, seek to know the future, but only the most worthy, will receive that knowledge." Carefully, he swam around the structure, and went into the actual city, since he had no need for knowledge of the future quite yet.
Kaldur swam, until he came up to a familiar house. He knocked on the door, and when it opened, there was a beautiful dark skinned girl with bright green eyes and blonde hair. She exclaimed, in Atlantian, "Kaldur! I thought you would never return! You told me you were staying up on land, to serve with our King." Kaldur smiled, and swam closer to hug the woman. He said in the native tongue, "Mother, I would never forget to visit you! I assured you that as soon as I had found the time, I would return. I did miss you very much, and I have good news as well." The woman gasped, and quickly ushered her son in, and closed the door. She asked, "And what is this good news, my Kaldur 'ahm?" Kaldur responded, "Mother, I have met the most lovely girl. Her name is Raquel, and I know you would like her. She is on the surface world, but she makes me very pleased, and I am happy to say we are courting."
