CHAPTER TWO -----▹

"Accessory to Murder and destruction of City-owned property."

Iskra had been sitting in an interrogation room, for what felt like hours, when a detective finally entered the room. "Iskra Romanoff-Hill, or should I call you Betty James?" Detective Caudle said, taking a seat across from the redhead, "I'm sorry, am I supposed to know what that means?" she asked, looking him directly in the eyes. "You know exactly what it means Ms. Romanoff-Hill, but we are not here to talk about that today," he stated.

The man placed a box down on the table, pulling out the first folder, "This is a file about you, underneath the alias Anna Judge, daughter of a man named Micheal Judge, an alias for a recently deceased Russian assassin. Anna Judge was enrolled in a small elementary school in Colorado, for one year. She was never heard from again after that." He paused pulling out another folder, "Here is another file on you, this time under the alias of  Iskra Rushman, the adoptive daughter of Natalie Rushman alias for Natasha Romanoff and Maria Hill. Iskra Rushman was enrolled in various elementary schools, and then Midtown High, she was the star of the Bio-med program. And finally," he paused dropping the final folder town this one had a lot more stuff in it.

"Iskra Romanoff-Hill, the adoptive daughter of Natasha Romanoff and Maria Hill, countless crimes, overridden by saving the world with a team known as the Avengers. One of them was a violation of the Sokovia accords in 2016, you were a national fugitive for nearly three years. Then there was that power outage you caused, just after finding out the news of your mother's death. Natasha Romanoff."

"Ok, ok, I get it. I don't need a play-by-play of my life." Iskra said, "I lived it." she added dryly, the door opened, "Iskra Romanoff-Hill, stop talking." The man said walking in. "Hi, this is over," he added directed towards the detective. "So, who are you?" the redhead asked, trying to get a read on the man who just walked in. "My name is Matthew Murdock and I'm a really good lawyer."

-------

"Look, I've never been arrested before, so uh how bad is it going to sound by me telling you based on tv show knowledge that I am not saying a word until I have a lawyer." Kate rambled on, and the detective sitting in front of her just looked annoyed, "Kate Bishop!" an auburn-haired1 woman said walking into the doors of the interrogation room, "Mrs. Morgan, how are you?" Kate asked, "Please, Kate, call me Rebecca."

Rebecca Morgan had been the Bishop family's lawyer since she was fresh out of law school years ago, "I am so sorry you got dragged into this mess, I already have everything all cleared up, they haven't placed any charges against you, therefore can not hold you at this time." she said, "What about Iskra?" Kate asked, "Who?" Rebecca asked only half paying attention to the girl.

"Iskra Romanoff-Hill, my girlfriend." Kate said, "Never heard of her," she replied and Kate rolled her eyes, "I'm kidding, Katie. She has her own lawyer, don't look at me like that, he's a really good lawyer, one of the best." Rebecca stated, and Kate rolled her eyes, "C'mon Katie, how about we go and get some lunch, discuss your...situation." the woman suggested, "Don't call me 'Katie' for one, and for two I'm not going anywhere until I see Iskra." Kate stated, and Rebecca sighed, "Fine...Let's go find your girlfriend." she said.

------

"So, you're a really good lawyer right?" Iskra asked, and he hummed in response, "How the hell are you getting me out of this mess?" she questioned, "Well at the moment, they have almost no direct charges to place on you, they can not directly charge you with any thing specifically except-"

"Oh God," she muttered running a hand through her hair, "The murder of Mikhail," he said, "What? I didn't kill him...that fucking bitch! God I knew he would be after me, but framing me for the murder of the man who...anyways, continue." Iskra said quickly entrapping the emotions that had bubbled up, "All of the evidence they have against you is completely circumstantial, my best advice I have for you for now, is keep your head down and stay out of the news." he advised.

"I usually don't have any problem with that, it might be a bit difficult when there is a man hunt out for me." Iskra muttered, "Well, make it work, because the moment something goes wrong, we will have a much bigger problem on our hands."Matt spoke, "Yeah, I've got that. So do you have a business card or something?" Iskra asked, tapping on the cold metal desk.

Iskra briefly scanned the card, before sticking it in her pocket, "Thank you," Iskra said, "It's really not a problem Miss Romanoff-Hill, I made sure to get here as soon as possible when your mother called and told me about your situation." Matt reassured, Iskra's eyebrows pulled together, "Huh..." Kate spotted her from across the room, "Iskra" the brunette said, walking over towards her at fairly quick rate, "That was interesting, I was using solely my knowledge from tv mystery dramas." Kate said and Iskra laughed a little, "Of course you were."

"Alright, let's get out of here before they come up with something to charge us with." Iskra said taking kate's hand, "Agreed." she nodded.

"Kate?" Iskra said as they walked down the busy city sidewalk, "Yeah?" she replied, "I am so tired of everyone I meet holding my father's identity over my head." the redhead paused, "Will you help me find him?" Iskra asked, "I mean there has to be some information somewhere since literally everybody seems to know except me." she rambled, "Iz, Iskra, Iz?" Kate said trying to stop the girl's ramble, "Of course I'll help you find him, but we're probably gonna need some help, I know virtually nothing about this kind of thing."

"Oh believe me I know..." Iskra spoke, and Kate's jaw dropped in offence, "It's ok, pretty eyes, it wasn't mean to be an insult, I think I have a plan..." Iskra said, and Kate narrowed her eyes at the witch, "Something tells me I'm not gonna like this at all." Kate spoke, "Probably not... we are gonna need the help of a couple of my old friends." Iskra said, "Don't give me that look." the witch pleaded.

"You're about to teleport us aren't you?" Kate asked willing the answer to her question not to be yes.

"Damn right, Pretty eyes." Iskra stated, "But the lawyer said we shouldn't-"

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

THIS WAS A BIT OF A SHORT CHAPTER BUT HOPEFULLY THE NEXT CHAPTER WILL MAKE UP FOR IT, I ALREADY HAVE QUITE A FEW PLANS FOR  THE NEXT FEW CHAPTERS, AND SOON ENOUGH THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION OF WHO ISKRA'S DAD IS WILL BE REVEALED. ALSO WE WILL BE SEEING MORE OF THE REALLY GOOD LAWYER HIMSELF.
