Ch. 10
Hell yeah, double digits
I have no idea what the fuck I'm doing
---------
Alex POV
I knew almost everyone on Eliza's list of people who were coming. If I didn't know them I had met them at the rehearsal dinner. All except one. A woman by the name of Ashley. When I first heard the name I froze thinking maybe, just maybe it was her, then I remembered she was probably dead. Sadly enough that thought was less painful.
Eliza kept saying that this 'Ashley' person would show up. She was the maid of honor after all. I'm not going to judge Eliza on her friend choices, but she didn't even know this lady's last name. If your maid of honor doesn't show up to the rehearsal and declines to tell you her last name, maybe she shouldn't be your maid of honor.
The next night she got a letter from Ashley and decided not to share the contents of it. All I know was when she went upstairs she was very angry, and came down red as a a tomato.
----------
Eliza POV
I was furious at her. How could she miss the rehearsal dinner. It is a very important part of the wedding. I decided to write a letter to her.
Dear Ashley,
The rehearsal dinner was tonight and guess who was the one person who didn't show up? The fucking maid of honor.
You better have a good excuse for this one.
With Little Love, Eliza
The next night I got a letter back from her.
Dear Eliza,
You cannot, under any circumstances, blame me for this. You declined to tell me there was a rehearsal dinner at all. I do apologize for not asking though. I should have assumed. Have a good evening.
P.S. I think you scared Matthew. He was shaken up when he delivered your letter.
With Much Love, Ash
I was so embarrassed. I lashed out at her for something that was my fault.
Dear Ashley.
I am so sorry. I did not mean to lash out at you in such a way. It is my fault and I apologize. You shouldn't have had to assume. Once again, so sorry.
P.S. Tell Matthew I didn't mean to scare him.
With Many Apologies, Eliza
I handed my letter to the mail boy, Matthew, who still looked shaken up.
"Sorry if I scared you yesterday." I told him softly
"I-it's fine." He stuttered, gingerly taking my mail from me.
---------
It was the night of the wedding and Ashley had still not come. I was starting to get mad. In the letters we exchanged I had told her to be here by a certain time. I knew I had. It was an hour past that.
All the sudden Ashley burst through the doors covered from head to toe in mud.
"I need all the soldiers, even Alexander." She yelled across the room
"Pourquoi?" Lafayette yelled from next to Alex.
"The camp is under attack."
