Thirty-Three
~Author's Note~
I know it's not Coldplay but it's a really good song and it kinda fit with the chapter 😊
Jonny was shaken awake by Chris early the next morning. "J, it's time."
Jonny's heart stopped in fear. "Are they here?"
Chris shook his head. "No, but they're on their way. I mean, they've been on their way, but they're almost here now."
"How can you tell?"
"It took me only half an Earth day to get here. It'll take them a little over twice that because government ships are slower than what I was in. I just wanna be prepared."
Jonny nodded and pressed his lips to Chris'. "I love you. I hope this works."
Chris sighed. "Me too, but I'll love you even it doesn't."
Jonny grabbed his hand and squeezed it for good measure, before they both grabbed their guitars and went to work.

Jonny was on the phone with Phil, and Chris was on the phone with his ex-wife.
"What do you mean you might not come back?" Phil asked.
"What do you mean hide the kids?" Gwenyth asked.
"We just might not return. I don't know if you'll see us again."
"Just... please hide the kids, Gwen. They're in danger."
As both conversations were happening, Phil could hear Chris' panicked tone, and Gwenyth could hear Jonny's warnings.
"Is everything ok over there, mate? Do you need me to come get you?"
"Chris, is everything alright? Should I fly out there?"
"NO!" Chris and Jonny shouted in unison.
They each continued their conversations, the worried tone not faltering from either person on the other end, until they were finally able to end it.
"Fine, I'll hide the kids," Gwenyth said, concerned for her ex-husband and her children.
"Alright, mate, well please take care of yourselves. I'd be devastated if you and Chris didn't come home in one piece," Phil said, concerned for his best friends.
When they both hung up, they sighed. They hugged each other tightly and Jonny gently brushed his fingers through Chris' blonde hair. "I'm scared, Chris." Jonny admitted quietly.
Chris sighed and kissed his hat. "Me too, love."
They stood like that for awhile before Chris insisted that they go ahead and plug in their amplifiers. They moved from the hotel so as to not bother anyone and rented out a meeting room a bit away from town, so they could play their guitars and sing as loud as physically possible.
"How will we know when to start playing?" Jonny asked.
"The chip that they've implanted in me will start beeping, which means that their tracking it." Jonny nodded. "You're going to sing, aren't you?" Chris asked with a smirk.
"Ah well, I don't know..."
"If you sing, we might have a better chance of surviving," Chris said, his tone a signal that he was going to win this one.
"Alright, fine," Jonny said with a chuckle.
They sat in silence for a moment, waiting for the terrifying beep beep beep of the chip. They held hands and when it began, they each held tighter, and without saying anything they told each other how much they loved one another.
When they let go, they grabbed their guitars and played the first chord of the song they'd decided to play, before really starting and cranking out the music.
"Slip inside the eye of your mind,
Don't you know you might find,
A better place to play."
Following through with Chris' request, Jonny sang along with him, singing as loud as his lungs would allow him to.
"So I'll start a revolution from my bed,
Cuz you said the brains I had went to my head,
Step outside cuz summer time's in bloom,
Stand up beside the fireplace,
Take that look from off your face,
Cuz you ain't ever gonna burn my heart out."
The music was so loud that neither Chris nor Jonny could hear a single thing but the chords that they were playing. Chris closed his eyes and let his fingers do the work, letting his mind carry him away. He hoped they were playing loud enough.
"So Sally can wait,
She knows it's too late as we're walking on by,
Her soul slides away,
But don't look back in anger, I heard you say."
Jonny played his guitar carefully, making sure to not miss any notes. He thought he was going to feel nervous, but with Chris by his side and his guitar in his hand, he felt safe. My two favorite things, he thought with a smile, and played even louder.
"Please don't put your life in the hands,
Of a rock and roll band,
We'll throw it all away.
"Gonna start a revolution from my bed,
Cuz you said the brains I had went to my head,
Stand outside,
Cuz summer time's in bloom,
Stand up beside the fireplace,
Take that look from off your face,
Cuz you ain't never gonna burn my heart out."
Chris and Jonny were in perfect sync with each other as they played the Oasis song. They were reminded of the times when they were younger and they would blast Oasis out from the flat they shared, most of the time disturbing their neighbors. Chris let out a chuckle and continued to sing.
"And so Sally can wait,
She knows it's too late as she's walking on by,
My soul slides away,
But don't look back in anger,
I heard you say,"
Just as they had moved onto the guitar solo, they both heard a large crash coming from outside, making them both flinch.
They stopped playing and looked at each other. "Should we go check?" Jonny asked.
Chris shook his head. "They could still be alive. Their ship is definitely destroyed, but that doesn't mean that they are," he replied.
Jonny took a deep breath. "What are they going to do if they find us?"
"Probably use whatever they can find to kill us. A traitor is a traitor, whether the execution is public or not."
Chris seemed calm on the outside, but on the inside, he was panicking. He really hadn't thought they'd get this far.
The room was silent, and Jonny worried that they would find them, and they'd be too far away from the city to call for help.
"Should we run, at least? Back to the city?" Jonny whispered.
Chris sighed. "I... I don't know, J. I think we should just stay here and wait," he replied, maintaining Jonny's hushed tone.
So, instead of running away like everyone else in the city, they sat in a meeting room just outside the city, closer to the wreckage than anyone else, held hands, and waited for fate to play its role.

"We have breaking news, yes, this just in, a strange object has crashed at the edge of the Australian outback. The object is unidentified and is suspected to be large enough to hold up to 500 human passengers."
At this, Phil looks up from what he's doing and at the telly. Will and Guy had already been watching, their football game interrupted by the news.
"Australia? That's where Chris and Jon are!" Phil said, concern oozing from his lips. "Jonny called me to say that they might not be coming back... do you think that's just a coincidence?"
At this, Will and Guy looked back at him.
"They what?"
"Uh... yeah. Jonny just called me like an hour ago. He said 'Mate, I don't mean to scare you, but I don't know if Chris and I will be coming back.' I asked him what he meant by that but he was really vague and I think they knew about this."
"How the hell would they know?" Guy asked.
Will was squinting at the TV, his eyes focused on the object that crashed on the ground. It looked so familiar, as if he'd seen the strange thing before. As if it weren't the first time he'd witnessed a strange object crash from space before...
"Holy shit! Guys, I know where I've seen that thing before!" He announced. The other two turned to him, curious about what he was going to say.
"That's the same thing I saw out the window when we first met Chris!"

"Mum, why do we have to go in the basement?" Moses asked his mother as him and Apple trotted down the steps.
"Look, your dad called me and told me to hide you. He didn't tell me why, but he obviously knows more than I do. I just want to keep you safe, okay?"
The kids sighed and continued to make their way down the steps. "Hey Gwen, you need to come see this!" Gwenyth's boyfriend called from the living room.
She quickly made her way up the steps and into the room where he was, and gasped when she saw what was on the telly. "What on Earth is that?" She asked.
He shook his head. "Got me, but it just crash landed in Australia."
Gwen's eyes widened at the realization. "That's where Chris is!" She cried.
"So far, word of ten deaths have been confirmed, and over a hundred injured," the anchorman said. "As the UFO was coming down, it hit the Crowne Plaza Hotel as well as the building next to it and a parking garage, and those confirmed dead were all on the very top floor of the hotel. Police say-"
"THAT WAS CHRIS' HOTEL!" Gwenyth screamed, now going into a panic. "What if he was on the top floor? What if him and Jonny are dead? Holy shit!" Tears welled up in her eyes and her boyfriend looked at her helplessly.
"Oh, Gwen. I'm so sorry. I'm sure they're fine."
"The Crowne Plaza Hotel is an expensive hotel, usually lived in by the rich and famous. Guests that currently in the hotel included Bono from U2, Chris and Jonny from Coldplay, and Ricky Gervais. Only Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland are missing, the other two have been accounted for and are fine."
At this news, Gwenyth screams again, worrying the kids beneath her, making them wonder if their dad was ok.

Chris and Jonny waited for a long time. After an hour, they began to worry that if the aliens didn't find them, then no one would.
Jonny's head was on Chris' chest, neither of them saying a word. Chris stroked his fiancé's face gently, doing his best to ease the man's worries.
They were both starting to get hungry, but they knew better than to say so. Jonny fell asleep, eventually, but Chris sat there, keeping watch. He knew they couldn't leave until someone rescued them, otherwise he feared they'd be ambushed, and all of their planning and work would be for nothing.
I love you, Jonny, he thought. I'm sorry that I got you into this mess.
He was just about to nod off when he heard a bang at the door. He jolted awake, waking up Jonny, who quietly sat up and watched the door. The bangs got louder and Chris' breath stopped when he heard whose voice was on the other side of the door.
"I know you're in there, Mr. Martin! You can't hide from the law forever!" Called a raspy voice.
Jonny scooted closer to Chris and held him tightly, fearing for their lives.
When the door opened, the most disgusting being imaginable was the one who threatened them. Half his face was burned, charred skin and wrinkles making up that half. His face was drooping, likely caused by the burn. When he grinned, his teeth were nonexistent, and the few that were there were black as the midnight. One of his eyes was missing, and the other was scarred, though it was obvious that at one point they had shown a very gleaming green.
He ran over to Chris and grabbed him by the throat, lifting his feet from the ground, making Chris unable to do anything to save himself. Jonny tried to run to save him, but the president of Ollama punched him in the jaw, knocking him out.
"Now you understand why love is forbidden on Ollama," the man said to Chris, who was still struggling in his grasp. "Because those who find love are just rubbing it in my face, the fact that I'll never find love!"
Jonny woke up, but instead of helping Chris he just watched helplessly as Chris was strangled.
"You think you and your boyfriend deserve a happily ever after? I'll make sure that your ever after is the same one that your father had!"
At this, Jonny couldn't take anymore, and he stood up quietly. "Actually, he's my fiancé," he said, before grabbing the president and snapping his neck. He fell to the ground, limp, and never to wake up again.
Chris, also fell, and Jonny quickly ran to him. "Chris!" He shouted. "Chris!"
Chris was drifting off into unconsciousness, and his blue eyes were cloudy.
"Love, please speak to me!" Jonny shouted, tears falling onto Chris' blue t-shirt. He stroked Chris' face and begged him to stay alive. "Chris, I need you," he whispered.
Chris closed his eyes and Jonny sobbed.
"I'm not going to let you go..."
