0.6: Strength & Preparations
Word spread quickly through the town. Five boys who everyone witnessed die weren't really dead. In fact, they now live in the outskirts of town with J.C. Thursday. J.C. being a man who had a firm belief in all things odd, unique, & out of the norm.
Steve, Terry, & Kairo walked in town as they only came into town for necessities or to get things from their old houses. Their families struggled as their homes were marked. Ben & Daniel were helping J.C. with a few things.
The mark wasn't anything short of completely hard to live with. The mark was like a blatant mark that told everyone of what their families had done & that magic wasn't something that could just be removed.
"꺼저!" (Go away !), Steve' father yelled as he spotted them in the street. Steve smirked as he had seen his father. "Are we bothering you ?" It was a simple question. They were just walking & people (mostly their families) were annoyed by their presence. Scared of the magic.
Terry nudged Steve as he took Kairo to get the last of their things from their old homes. Kairo spoke in a low tone with Terry, "What do you think our lives would've been if we didn't have magic at all ?" Terry could tell that Kairo wasn't ashamed of anything, but he had given this some thought.
"그렇게까지 생각해 본 적은 없어요, 카이로아. 나는 그것을 조금도 마음에 두지 않아요. 아시겠어요?" (I never gave that much thought, Kairo ah. I am not sparing it any space in my mind. Understand ?) Terry responded before they left. Their old families cowering away in utter fear of their magic.
Steve met up with them as they began making their way back to the outskirts of town. J.C. did not know much, if anything about magic, but he was willing to learn & help the boys with their magic.
J.C. ended up making the shed in his backyard a renovated space the boys could live in. The shed was far more beautiful than what its previous state was. The ceiling was replaced with glass to become a skylight. A bookcase wall actually went underground where they could store whatever they wanted down there. The door was also reinforced ,& made to be a double door that the boys could paint on. All the necessities were there. A live-in conservatory, if you will.
Once the boys were settled they began their training. To be more specific, intense combat training. The boy' prioritized gaining strength to help their bodies to adjust to the powerful magic they all possess.
J.C. sat off to the side as he watched them. The five were very young, but conducted themselves as if they were older. Powerful. Unremorseful. Connected. It doesn't matter how you describe it, but they were an anomaly versus the society that now wants nothing to do with them.
"여러분은 마치 이것이 완전히 운명인 것처럼 행동합니다. 당신은 그것을 보지 못하나요?" (You all act as if this was completely destined. Do you not see that ?) J.C. was concerned that the boys were exerting themselves too much. Like they were just doing things to do them. To prove a point. Daniel spoke up first with a tone of anger in his voice, "Oh, so we should just live with our deaths because you've graciously let us stay with you ?"
Terry nudged Daniel in an attempt to calm him. The last thing they needed was anger speaking for them in this situation. Everything was delicate at the moment without their justified anger. "I am not saying you all don't have any right to be angry, but don't you think this is a bit much ? You've already condemned your families to suffering from marking your old homes..."
Steve answered this time to stop before an argument ensued. "We'll sleep on things, J.C. hyung." It wasn't long before J.C. left them alone. They sat on the floor right under their skylight in a circle...
