Chapter 22: Lying To Myself

WINTER'S POINT OF VIEW

"Go to your mother's grave and stay there until Saturday." I looked at Dad with a confused look because of what he said.

"That's not a punishment, Dad," I said while my forehead is still twitched.

Dad shook his head "Of course, that's a punishment, anak. Now, go to your room and pack your," he said before he faced Yaya Angie. I just rolled my eyes before I went upstairs to my room. I didn't called a Yaya because for sure, Dad won't like it. I packed my things before I lied to my bed and scrolled through my phone.

I stood up when I heard someone knocked on the door. "Who's that?!" I shouted, but no one answered. "I said, who's that?!" I opened the door and I saw the maid named Amelia standing in front of my room. "What do you need?" I raised my brow.

She was about to say something when we heard someone shouted downstairs. "Bumaba ka diyan, Winter!" Her voice seemed familiar.

"Who's that girl shouting downstairs?" I asked the maid, but she just looked down. "If you don't want to say it, just get out of my way." She followed and gave me a way. I smirked before I went downstairs to see who's the girl shouting downstairs.

"Nasaan ka na?!" I heard the girl shouted again while I'm on my way downstairs. Her voice is really familiar.

"What do yoㅡ Oh, hi, Angela! It's nice to see you again," I waved my hand, but she just stare at me. I rolled my eyes. "By the way, what are you doing here?" I added. So that's why her voice is really familiar. Because it's Angela Anderson.

"What did you do to my mother?!" she said that made my forehead twitched.

"Excuse me, I don't know your mother," I rolled my eyes.

She was about to say something when someone spoke. "Tama na yan, anak." I looked at the woman who spoke and saw our maid named Angie.

"Anong 'tama na', Ma? Pagkatapos kang tanggalan ng mata ng hayop na ito, sasabihin mong 'tama na'? Seryoso ka ba, Ma?" Angela looked at the maid.

"Excuse me, I'm not hayop because you are the hayop," I said.

"Wala kang karapatang sabihan akong hayop, Winter!" Angela shouted.

"Whatever," I rolled my eyes before I looked at the maid and looked at her again. "So this is your mother?" I pointed at the maid that I think is her mother.

"Oo, nanay ko siya!" she shouted.

"Well, she really looks like your mother," I said as I laughed. I'm laughing because they are both wearing an eye cover that only pirates should wear.

"There's nothing funny, Winter! What did you do to my mother?" Her mother is already crying as she whispered something to Angela. "Ma, ano ba?! Hindi mo ba talag naiintindihang ginagawa ko ito dahil tinanggalan ka ng mata ng hayop na ito?!" she stared at me. "What, Winter?!"

I raised my brow as I recalled her question to me a while ago. "You already knew what did I do to your mother, but you're still asking me? Are you that stupid? Or do you just want me to say it to you personally, so that it will hurt you more? Knowing that I removed your mother's left eye, just like what I did to you?"

She rushed at me, but her mother stopped her. "Hayop ka, Winter! Naturingan kang mayaman pero 'yang ugali mo, pang-skwater!" she shouted.

I crossed my arms over my chest and raised a brow as I looked at her. "Excuse me, my behaviour is not like those people who's living at the squatter are. Also, why do you know the behaviour of the people living at the squatter area? Are you also living there?" She was about to say something when I spoke again. "Well, I think you really belong there," I laughed.

"Paano ako nakapasok sa eskwelahan niyo kung doon kami nakatira? Gamitin mo nga 'yang utak mo, Winter!" I rolled my eyes because of what she said.

"Oh, yeah, I remembered. You're from Schneider Academy before. And to answer your question, even if you're living at the squatter area, you can still enter Schneider Academy because your mother is one of our maids. And our maids have a salary of $10,000 per month. If you convert their salary to Philippine peso, their salary would be about 500,000 pesos per month. You entered Schneider Academy because of my father and me. So if I were you, you should be thank me instead of hating me," I rolled my eyes.

She rushed at me again, but this time, her mother didn't stopped her. "Ang kapal nga naman talaga ng mukㅡ" She was about to slap me when I held her wrist.

"You really don't know me and the things that I can do, huh?" I smirked that made her stopped.

"Sino bang mga tao ang nandiyan?" We heard Dad asked as he came out from the dining hall. "Oh, Angie, bakit ka umiiyak?" he asked the maid, but the maid just kept in crying. He diverted his gaze to me and to Angela. "Who's that girl beside you, anak?"

"Oh, this girl?" I pointed at Angela who's just staring at her mother. "You already knew this girl, Dad," I rolled my eyes.

Dad went near us while his gaze is just on Angela. "Ms. Anderson?" Dad asked and Angela bowed. "What are you doing here?"

Angela raised his gaze to my dad. "I went here because of your daughter, Mr. Schneider."

"Did my daughter do anything bad to you again, Ms. Anderson?" Dad looked at me.

"You know that I didn't leave this house since I woke up, Dad," I said.

"Your daughter didn't do anything bad to me, Mr. Schneider. Instead, I came here because your daughter did something bad to my mother. I thought you already knew about it, Mr. Schneider," Angela said.

Dad's forehead twitched as he looked at Angela's mother. "Angie is your mother?" Dad looked at Angela.

"Yes, Mr. Schneider," she said as she nodded. "I'm here because your daughter removed my mother's left eye just like what she did to me before."

"I'm really sorry about that, Ms. Anderson," Dad said.

Angela raised her brow. "Sorry? Can your sorry bring back our eyes, Mr. Schneider?"

"Don't worry because I already have a punishment for my daughter, Ms. Anderson."

"What kind of punishment do you have for your daughter, Mr. Schneider," Angela raised her brow.

"Sorry, but I think, it's just supposed to be among us. I think, you don't have to know, Ms. Anderson. I'm really sorry." I looked at Dad because of what he said.

Angela spoke right before I can say something. "You don't want me to know it because you really don't have a punishment for her. Right, Mr. Schneider?" she asked sarcastically.

Dad was about to spoke when Angela's mother spoke. "Tama na iyan, Angela, anak," she said as she cried before she looked at Dad. "Patawad po sa inasal ng anak ko, Sir," she looked down as she kneeled.

"Huwag kang mag-alala, Angie dahil naiintindihan ko siya. Kahit naman sa nanay ko manyyari iyon ay ganito din ang gagawin ko." Dad helped Angela's mother stood up after he said those words.

"Marami pong salamat sa inyong pang-intindi, Sir. Handa po akong tanggapin kung tatanggalin niyo po ako sa trabaho," Angela's mother said.

I spoke before Dad can say something. "I told you earlier that if you followed me, you and your cousin wouldn't be fired. You followed me and I did what's right to you, so I think you should stay at your work here being one of our maids," I said that made her looked at me.

She cried more. "Salamat po, Ma'am."

"Why are you thanking me? I did something bad to you, so I think, you should hate me."

She bowed again before she diverted her gaze to her daughter. "Umuwi na tayo, anak. Nakaka-abala na tayo sa kanila." Angela stared at me before she left our mansion. "Marami po talagang salamat. Pagbubutihin ko pa po lalo ang trabaho ko," she said before she followed her daughter.

I looked at Dad and saw that he's smiling at me. "What now, Dad?" I raised my brow.

"Nothing, anak. It's just that you're really kind," he smiled at me.

My forehead twitched. "When did I became kind, Dad?"

"Remember the words you said to Angie before she left? When I heard you said it to her, I have proven that you really are kind, anak," he said.

I rolled my eyes. "I only said the truth and that doesn't mean that I'm kind."

He shook his head as he spoke. "You just don't want to tell yourself that you're kind because you want to prove that you are sassy. You want them to be scared at you, but the truth is you want them to be your friends. You want to tell them that you are brave, but deep inside, you know that you are also soft."

"That's not true, Dad," I said as I laughed.

"It is true, but you just don't want to believe at it, anak. Do you think your Mom will be happy when she finds out about this? When she finds out that you are lying to yourself? No, anak. She won't be happy because she wants you to be true to yourself."

"She will never find out because she is already dead and that f*cking Aristotle killed her!" I shouted as I tried to control my tears from falling.

"Give yourself a chance, anak. I know that you are already tired of pretending. Try to be true to yourself and you'll see," he smiled.

I diverted my gaze away from him. "I need to go to Mom's grave, Dad."

"Look at you, you're already changing the topic because you don't want to admit to yourself that all of what I said is true. Right, anak?"

I felt my tears falling. "Just stop, Dad. Please," I said as I cried.

I heard that he sighed. "I hope that if you'll come back from your mother's grave, you are already true to yourself," he said before he caressed my back that made me cry more. "Go to your room now, anak because our private plane is on its way and any minute, it will arrive."

I followed Dad and I went to my room to take a bath and fix my make-up before I went downstairs. "I'll go now, Dad," I said.

"Take care, anak," he smiled. I also smiled at him before I went outside.

"Manong, let's go." Our driver went to the driver's seat as I went to the back seat. He was about to drove when I spoke again. "Manong, let's go to my favorite coffee shop first."

"Sige po, Ma'am," he said as he drove to my favorite coffee shop. Our driver parked the car and I went outside.

When I entered the coffee shop, my favorite song which is Beautiful Soul was already playing. I ordered one espresso on the counter. I saw a man stood up from my peripheral vision. I looked at who it was, but his back is facing me. I saw a woman spoke as the man sat. I was shocked when I heard his voice.

"What are you doing here, Louiegie? And who's that girl you are with?" I asked in my mind. I am about to go near him when the waitress on the counter spoke. I looked at her and got my espresso.

I went back to the car and our driver drove to where our private plane is. He opened the door for me as he smiled.

"Mag-iingat po kayo, Ma'am," he bowed. I just looked at him before I went to our private plane.

Our private pilot greeted me. He bowed as he opened the door of our private plane for me. I just slept during our flight. When we arrived, I went to our mansion first.

Our maids looks surprised when they saw me. I remembered, they didn't knew that I'll come here because this is all of a sudden.

"Welcome back, Ma'am Winter," they said as they bowed, their faces are still puzzled. I just looked at them before I went upstairs to my room. I placed my luggage on the side before I lied on my bed.

"My head hurts," I winced as I said those words in my mind. I can still remember what Dad told me, all of them. "Is it really true that I'm just lying to myself?" I shook my head. "You're not lying to yourself, Winter. You're not."

I went downstairs to eat my dinner. "Ma'am, sorry to ask, but what are you doing here?"

I looked at the maid who asked it. "I just have something important things to do here," I said as I continued eating my dinner. When I'm finished, I went back to my room.

"I'll just go to Mom's grave tomorrow," I said in my mind before I went to sleep.
