Yang POV

I was sitting in Prof. Port's class bored out of my mind as usual when (Y/n) walked in the classroom late.

Port:"Ah! Mr. Rose. Good day!"

(Y/n):"Right back at ya..."

(Y/n) sat in his spot which was in the row behind Ruby and I. He yawned loudly and smacked his lips. Port continued his lesson and I glanced back to see (Y/n) leaning forward on the desk with his left hand on his forehead. He was covering his eyes and I could tell he was sleeping. Saeko looked over at him and shook her head before writing down notes.

The class dragged on before the bell rang. (Y/n) groaned and got up before letting out another yawn and walking out the class. I frowned lightly and followed after him. A few more class periods later, lunchtime arrived. (Y/n) yawned and poked his food with his fork.

"You good? You slept through, like, four classes."

(Y/n):"Huh?"

"I asked if you were good?"

Ruby:"Yeah. You've never been this sleepy before."

(Y/n):"Oh...yeah. I'm good. Just classes and all this homework. You know how it is."

He flashed us a smile, but I wasn't buying it.

"Want me to get you an energy drink?"

(Y/n) turned to face me and he lightly bit his lip.

(Y/n):"I'd love that."

I smirked and nodded before standing up from the table and walking to the vending machine. I looked at the buttons and clicked on one as a drink called Beast rolled out. I picked it up and looked at the logo. It was reminiscent of a bite mark. As I began walking back, I saw that second year Coco talking to (Y/n). She had a hand on his shoulder and was smiling ear to ear. (Y/n) waved her off and said something to her which made her pout and walk off.

"What was all that about?"

(Y/n):"She was wondering if I could help her with something later today, but I got plans already."

He quickly snatched the energy drink and held it on its side. He grabbed a knife and poked a hole in it before holding it up to his lips.

(Y/n) opened the can and chugged the energy drink like nothing before getting up and tossing the can on his tray.

(Y/n):"That hit the spot."

He walked off as Nora and Ruby had stars in their eyes.

RN:"THAT WAS SO COOL!"

Weiss:"That was just obscene. No wonder Saeko doesn't like him."

"Heh, you should see him with actual beer cans."

Blake:"Isn't he too young to drink?"

"Yeah, but when he's with my dad and uncle he's practically a grown man."

Weiss:"Ugh."

Pyrrha:"Well that's quite impressive to say the least."

Nora:"Ren! It's my turn! Go get me an energy drink."

Ren:"I don't think that's a good idea."

Nora:"Awww you're no fun!"

Ruby:"He's right. I tried doing that before with soda and because I did it wrong, the soda splashed all over my uncle. Heh heh."

"I remember that. Qrow was drenched and Dad would not stop laughing. Then he chased him around with his scythe. Good times."

We talked a bit more about random things as (Y/n) walked around the lunch room trying to swindle people's Jell-O. He was actually successful and came back with 7 different cups.

(Y/n):"Haha! Talk about a good haul."

Ruby tried to sneakily steal a cup, but he flicked her hand away.

Ruby:"Hey! You have to share! Dad said so!"

(Y/n):"No way Jose. I got this haul fair and square."

Ruby then glared and got a serious look in her eyes.

Ruby:"Hey (Y/n), you're gelatin eating days are over! Give me the Jell-O."

(Y/n) simply looked at her and scooped up all the cups.

(Y/n):"If you want it, then you'll have to take it."

He then glared back at her.

(Y/n):"But you already knew that."

Ruby:"GIMMEGIMMEGIMME!"

Ruby leaped over the table from her seat and at (Y/n). He jumped back and ran around the entire cafeteria with Ruby on his tail. Nora and Jaune were laughing loudly as Pyrrha giggled. Ren had his usual plain look on his face and Blake held a small smile. Weiss rolled her eyes in annoyance.

It was good to see (Y/n) have his energy back. The rest of the day was normal. That jackass Cardin tried hitting on me, but I hit him in the face as a response. (Y/n) laughed his ass off which made Cardin mad. They hurled insults at each other with (Y/n) being classy and smooth with his words and how he insulted the oaf.

"Ah! Finally! Time to kick back and relax!"

Ruby:"Yeah!"

Weiss:"Actually we should hurry and finish writing those three pages for Doctor Oobleck."

"Aww what? But they're not due till the end of the week."

Weiss:"Yeah. Which is in two days, Yang."

Ruby:"Oh poo!"

Blake:"She's right. The sooner we get it done the sooner we can take it easy."

Ruby:"Okay! Team RWBY commence operation: Hurry and Do the Work So We Can Relax! Go!"

"The name needs some work."

Ozpin:"Ah. Team RWBY."

We all greeted Ozpin who was walking down the hall.

Ozpin:"Where's your brother? I'd like to speak with him for just a moment."

Ruby:"Is he in trouble?"

Ozpin:"Haha. Of course not. I just want to ask him about some rumors he's heard."

Ruby:"Rumors?"

Ozpin:"Mhm."

"I think I saw him heading towards the training hall with Pyrrha."

Ozpin:"Thank you. Enjoy your afternoon."

He walked on ahead and I narrowed my eyes. There was something going on with (Y/n). He was always tired and when we asked what was wrong he'd brush us off. And now Ozpin wants to ask him about some rumors.

Ruby:"Yang?"

"Huh?"

Ruby:"You okay?"

Blake:"You were spacing out for a minute there."

"Let's talk about it back in the dorm."

* * *

"Look. I think (Y/n)'s hiding something from us."

Ruby:"Why would he do that? (Y/n) always shared everything with us."

Weiss:"What makes you think that, Yang?"

"It's because he's been super tired lately. (Y/n) never woke up tired or was sleepy throughout the day. And when Ozpin wanted to ask him about some rumors. I'm going to get to the bottom of this!"

Ruby:"Count me in!"

"You in Weiss?"

Weiss:"I'll pass. You may be overreacting over nothing. He may be losing sleep because of video games and staying up late."

"But wouldn't Saeko tell him to turn the game off?"

Blake:"Hard to say. She doesn't like him so maybe she let's him lose sleep on purpose. But then again, she could be annoyed by some button mashing and tell him to knock it off. It could go either way really."

"Damn. You might be right about that. But I got a plan!"

I smirked gleefully as Ruby got amped to help me out.

Later

We were playing some video games with (Y/n) and just casually poking fun at each other. As we kept playing, (Y/n)'s scroll buzzed. He grabbed it and took a glance at it.

(Y/n):"Alright ladies, I'm calling it a night."

Ruby:"Aww. Why?"

(Y/n):"I got things to do."

"Like what?"

(Y/n):"Sleep."

He laughed and walked out after petting Ruby on the head. I looked at her and nodded. She nodded back and we carefully peeked out the door. We saw him walking down the hall with the scroll up to his ear. We then tiptoed out the room and hid behind some lockers.

(Y/n):"Yeah, yeah. I'm going. Heh, you already know sweetheart."

Sweetheart! (Y/n)'s never called me that! I see how it is. (Y/n) has a sneaky link.

I looked at Ruby and she was frowning a little. Her eyes looked down and I felt bad for her.

(Y/n):"Aight. I'm headed there now."

He hung up and ran in the direction of his locker.

Ruby:"Yang..."

I turned and looked at Ruby who struggled to hold back tears.

Ruby:"We were too late..."

"Ruby..."

I didn't know what to tell her. (Y/n) was Ruby's first and only crush and now he's been taken away, but some mysterious girl. I pulled her into a hug as she cried softly.

(Y/n), you lying punk! Wait until I get my hands on you!

(Y/n) passed by us without even noticing with his weapons which left me confused. I watched him walk out the doors and I could've sworn I saw a bullhead.

"Ruby, I think we came to the wrong conclusion."

Ruby:"Huh?"

She let go of me and dried her tears.

"(Y/n) left with his weapons."

Ruby:"His weapons? But why would he need those when he's going to see a girl?"

"I don't know, but we're going to ask him when he gets back. Okay?"

She just nodded and wiped her eyes.

2 Hours Later

We waited around in the courtyard and tried to fight off our sleep until we heard the hum of an engine above us.

"Ruby!"

I shook her and she looked up. We nodded at each other and got ready to confront (Y/n). The bullhead landed and the door opened. (Y/n) sauntered out and he was covered in soot and had stains on his pants.

"(Y/n)!"

He stopped and looked at us.

(Y/n):"...You two are lucid dreaming... Quite the experience right?"

"We are not dreaming! Tell us what's going on now."

Ruby:"We heard you talking with someone on your scroll. It's a girl isn't it?"

He looked at us and sighed.

(Y/n):"Yeah. It was a girl."

"And are you trying to have a sneaky link with her?!"

(Y/n):"Whoa! What kind of guy do you take me for?! Come on Yang. You know me. Look, the thing is..."

He took in a deep breath and scratched his head.

(Y/n):"Ozpin has me out and about doing missions for him here in Vale."

Ruby:"What? Is that why he wanted to talk with you earlier?"

(Y/n):"Yep. He sends me out to do missions with this one chick I met by accident. And he also wanted me to convince her to join Beacon."

"Wait. So you're not dating anyone?"

(Y/n):"Nope. This bird flies solo!"

He laughed to himself and I felt relieved.

(Y/n):"Besides, I doubt you two would take kindly to that. You both freak out over the littlest things. But it's whatever. I'm used to it. Goodnight girls."

He walked past us and I looked at Ruby.

Ruby:"He's right..."

"Huh?"

Ruby:"Anytime there's a girl with him, we both get on edge. It isn't good for any of us. We should let him do his own thing."

"But-"

Ruby:"I love and trust (Y/n). He also knows what he's doing."

*sigh* "Fine sis, if that's how you feel."

I hugged her and we started making our way back to our dorm.

A/n: Sorry if this chapter was a little lame. I wanted to get something out for this story. But hopefully the next two chapters can make up for it.
