I laid in my bed awake just to make sure Saeko didn't try and stab me in my sleep. It wouldn't really bother me, but I didn't want the sheets stained with my blood. I heard her snoring softly and yawned before rolling over and sleeping.

Next Morning

Once I woke up, I was alone in the dorm as Saeko had just barely left.

"What? No good morning? Talk about rude."

I put on the Beacon uniform and went to get some grub. The cafeteria was pretty full but I didn't see Ruby or Yang around. I just shrugged and stood in line to get some food. As I stood in line, I watched as someone tripped another first year and laughed at them.

Guy:"Come on first year! You're here to fight Grimm, but you can't even walk right haha!"

His buddies laughed along with him and their laughs combined was obscenely obnoxious.

?:"Ugh, those assholes need to shut up."

I turned my head to see a girl wearing a beret and shades...indoors.

"I hear that. Those guys are gonna make me lose my appetite."

I got my food and grabbed two forks.

"This should shut 'em up."

I threw one of the forks at a milk carton at their table and watched it gush out like a broken dam. It leaked over one guy's pants and he got up in anger and embarrassment. His friends didn't hold back their laughter and neither did the girl behind me.

"Jeez buddy, you're here to fight Grimm and you don't even know when to get up and use the can."

Guy:"You! You threw that fork didn't you?!"

"Me? I'm but a humble first year hoping to get my fill of nutrients."

Guy:"I'm going to kick your ass!"

I turned my head to the side and put a hand behind my ear.

"What'd you say?"

This pissed him off and he charged right at me as I chuckled. I stepped out of his way and tripped him myself. He slid along the ground and groaned.

"It's too early for all this."

I sat down at an empty table and rubbed my hands together before digging into my food. The girl from earlier sat down in front of me.

?:"Wow, you're pretty stylish."

"Thanks. It runs through my veins."

?:"Oh no doubt. So, you got a name?"

"(Y/n) Rose."

Coco:"I'm Coco Adel. I'm a second year here. So, how's Beacon?"

"Well, I enrolled early with my little sister, got to meet a wonderful group of weirdos, and was stabbed by my teammate. So I'd say it's going lovely."

Coco:"You're joking right?"

"I wish. My teammate didn't like the fact that I-"

I stopped myself short because I didn't want people exactly knowing I was a demon. Whether they believed me or not was to be determined, but I wouldn't want to risk it.

"-I made fun of their combat attire."

Coco:"Oh then I can sympathize with them. I'm the resident fashionista."

"Good to know. If I ever need a wardrobe change then I'll be sure to give you a holler."

Coco:"Oh?"

She then gave me a smug look.

Coco:"You trying to ask for my number?"

Not even in the slightest, but Dad and Uncle Qrow always said that when the door is open be sure to check out what's on the other side. "What else could I ask of a lovely lady such as yourself?"

Coco:"Sure. Why not? You're pretty damn bold for a first year. Plenty of other guys have tried being total jocks, but in the end they completely fail."

She got out her scroll and I got mine out as well. She typed her info into mine and my info into hers. She smiled and lowered her shades to give me a wink. I winked back and we ate our breakfast together. Once the bell rung, we threw our trash away and went our separate ways.

My first class was Grimm Studies with Prof. Port. I walked in and sat in the middle of the room.

Port:"Ah! Mr. Rose, good morning!"

"Morning Professor."

Port:"I hope things are going well with your teammate."

"I'd like to think so."

Port:"Haha! Excellent!"

More students poured in and Saeko was one of them. She saw me and walked to a different part of the room and sat down. I just shook my head and waited for the class to start. The bell rang shortly after, but Ruby and Yang weren't in class yet.

"Late on the first day?"

The door opened quickly and they barely arrived. Port scolded them before they sat down. Ruby sat in the row in front of me. Jaune sat next to me and so did his team. Prof. Port droned on about what it meant to be a huntsman and whatnot. While that was happening, Ruby showed me a crudely drawn picture of the man and wrote Prof. Poop on it. I chuckled lightly which made her happy.

She started to balance a book on top of an apple, on top of a pencil, and on her index finger. She took a quick power nap and began picking her nose which caused me to give her a look of shame.

Port:"Who here has these qualities?"

Both Weiss and Saeko raised their hands in the air.

Port:"Excellent! Why don't you two get into your combat gear and then show us what you got?"

They both nodded and left to change.

"Good luck out there."

Saeko:"Shut it, fool."

"Classic Saeko."

She walked off with a pissed off look on her face.

Yang:"(Y/n), I don't think I like her very much."

Ruby:"What did you two argue about yesterday?"

"No need to worry about it. I got this under control. I can play nice with just about anybody."

Pyrrha:"Either way, I hope you two can get along with each other."

"Thanks Pyr."

She smiled happily as the two girls entered the classroom again. Upon seeing Saeko's attire, most of the other guys started whistling and hollering like a bunch of baboons.

Port:"So which of you would like to go first?"

Saeko:"You may go ahead, Weiss."

Weiss:"Thank you."

She stepped forward and got in a stance.

Ruby:"Yeah! Go Weiss! Represent Team RWBY!"

Weiss:"Hush! And let me focus!"

Ruby flinched and looked a bit down.

Prof. Port stepped next to a cage and cut the rope to open it up. A boartusk charged right out the cage and nearly hit Weiss. She spun around gracefully to dodge it. She then focused for a bit and charged right at it. Her rapier bounced right off the beast's head plate which made her stumble.

It curled into a ball and rolled at her. She was dodging it and trying to kill it.

Ruby:"Weiss, aim for its belly! There's no armor there!"

Weiss:"Don't tell me what to do!"

She was then knocked aside by the Grimm. It squealed and tried charging right at her. She waved her hand and a strange circle stopped it right in its tracks. It was confused and tried to charge, but Weiss finished it off while panting heavily.

Port:"Excellent! You're up next Ms. Busujima."

Saeko:"Right."

He opened another cage but this time the Grimm inside was an Ursa. It roared loudly which caused any sleeping students to quickly wake up. Everyone had their eyes glued on Saeko as she jumped over a strike from its paw. Her outfit gave the audience quite the sight to behold.

Yang:"(Y/n), you better not be looking!"

"Of course I wouldn't look. If I did she'd use that as a reason to slit my throat."

Yang:"What?"

"Don't worry your pretty little head over it, sis."

Saeko landed behind the Ursa and drew her katana. She glared at me and swung the katana swiftly. The Ursa stayed still before its upper half slid right off and turned to dust after hitting the floor. Everyone clapped for her as she sheathed it.

Saeko:"A friendly reminder to not mess with me."

"Noted."

I just laughed to myself as the bell rang. Weiss and Saeko walked out and Ruby began chasing after Weiss. I walked out slowly and took a look at my schedule.

After School

Our last class had finally ended and as I got up, the professor told me and Saeko to head over to Dr. Oobleck's class.

Oobleck:"There you are children. I hope you learned something from today's lesson. But it's the first of many! Speaking of which, you two will have your detention here until you learn to cooperate."

"Whatever you say doc."

Oobleck:"Have a seat."

We sat apart from each other as Oobleck began writing on his chalkboard.

Oobleck:"While you're here, you twill will be taught very important material. Material which isn't covered in any other school curriculum in any kingdom."

Saeko:"Oh? What's special about this subject?"

Oobleck:"Well young lady, it's history. The most important subject in any school! But not any ordinary history. The history of..."

He finished writing and our eyes widened. He drew a figure that I knew.

Saeko:"Sparda..."

Oobleck:"Correct! Now, us faculty members are aware of your lineage. And Ozpin told me this would be the best way to spend your detention."

"Gotta hand it to the man, he knows what he's doing."

Oobleck:"Indeed! Now, let the lesson begin. Sparda was a great and powerful demon. Many marveled his strength and others envied it. His strength was incredible enough for him to be the general for the Prince of Darkness, Mundus. However, Sparda rebelled against the demon army once they began invading our world."

Saeko and I paid close attention as he talked about the war between humans and Faunus versus the demons.

Oobleck:"And thus he sealed the demon world away."

"Holy crap..."

Oobleck:"(Y/n), your father was a great man. He fought for the weak and innocent. Even though he was a demon, he had morals and a set of beliefs."

Saeko:"But he's a demon!"

Oobleck:"That is what he is, but not who he is. Understand?"

Saeko:"I..."

Oobleck:"In this day and age we fear and discriminate against what we don't understand. I pray that you two won't be like that towards each other for the remainder of the school year. Detention is finished!"

Saeko got up and left without saying a word and Oobleck simply sighed and shook his head.

"Same time tomorrow?"

Oobleck:"Yes."

"See you then, Doc."

My first day of school wasn't so bad, just a bit boring. But little did I know that I'd eventually miss this peace and quiet.
