Mad Children
A couple blocks away, near the outskirts of town is a hidden ranch where we head to pick up our transportation.
"Joseph, meet Huella, my horse."
Looking at her from afar and quite stunned he says, "I didn't know you were an equestrian."
I walk towards her "yeah, she's beautiful isn't she?"
"And big."
"She's the tallest mustang in Andalucia, aren't you?" I say petting her neck then getting on her back. "Come on then, we have a road ahead of us."
"But I've never been on a horse before."
"Don't worry, she's sweet. She won't drop you unless I tell her" I joke.
He smiles uneasily then cautiously walks towards us, he gets on top and Huella neighs startling him a bit. I laugh and indicate her to get going.
"You might wanna hold onto something, sometimes she likes jumping for no reason" I say kiddingly.
"Very funny Candy but If you wanted my arms around you, all you had to do is ask." He says lustfully placing his chin upon my shoulder and sliding his hands through my thighs to reach for the rein. It wasn't a second before my heart rate increased from 70 to 120.
"Don't flatter yourself" I say facing him, he squints his pretty eyes.
Down the road he asks "What does Huella mean?"
"Paw Print."
He snickers, "who named her?"
"Me when I was five. I didn't know how to pronounce Yegua so I called her Huella."
"Aw that's cute."
"Keep up the sarcasm Joe, I'll leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere."
He laughs, "now I'm getting to know the real you, huh?"
I smile then think about what that could mean, "the real me." I don't believe I know the real me.
At 2pm We Arrive where the sky is clear, the sand is white and transparent waves slowly dance with the shore.
I tie Huella to a post then find Joseph looking longingly out onto the sea, as if he had never seen it before. Perhaps he hadn't, I almost forget his memory is ill.
I walk up behind him and ask "do you like it?"
"Absolutely." He looks at me, "it is the second most beautiful thing I've ever seen."
I smile, "take off your shoes then, you have to feel its beauty."
He smiles still looking at me as if my words had been sexual innuendos then he removes his boots and hands me his strong hand. Together we run for the shore, the water hits against our feet making both jump back but then we go further in and soon enough we are both soaked, holding onto one another against the tide, laughing like mad children in the summer.
