Chapter 2 (Hazel and Gloria)

(Hazel's POV)
"Bang!" I shot my pistol at the target.

"Yes! Great job, sis!" My little sister Gloria gave me a high five for getting bull's eyes. We went out in our backyard for target practice. We did it every week after Glo comes back from her med class. She was determined to be a nurse and didn't waste her time. "My turn!" She brought out her hand gun and prepared to shoot.

I felt a nudge on my back. I slapped my back thinking it was a bug, boy was I wrong. Once my hand connected with my back I felt something wrap around my arm. I screamed and decided to take a look at the strange creature. "What's wrong? WHAT THE HECK IT THAT?!" My brown eyes sister said as she turned around to face me. My eyes finally connects with it. It had eyes, a noodle body, and teeth. It's teeth was baring ready to bite my arm. "GET OFF MY SISTER!" Gloria yell and hit the spaghetti like thing off my arm.

"Thanks Glo!"

"No problem. What in the world are those things?"

"I don't know but whatever they are, they are pawful." I got a smile and laugh from my younger sister. We heard a odd gurgling sound coming from the sky. The wind picked up and my hair blowing in all directions. We both gasped. It was a huge ball of noodles, sauce, and cheese with giant eyes, and it was floating. It pulled off our roof and let it's noodle arms wander into our house. We both just stood there in shock not moving. I heard screams. The monster pulled out our parents. I snapped. I shot three times at the floating entrée. Gloria did the same with her gun. The bullets went straight through it without wounding it. It threw our terrified parents into its mouth. "Mom! Dad!" We yelled. It shot out smaller spaghetti balls at us. We dodged the projections then ran for cover. I looked at my sister, and I could tell she was crying.

"Come on, Gloria! We have to fight back!" I encouraged her. She gave me a small nod. We ran to our basement for supplies. I tossed a long sword at the teary eyes girl. She caught it and stood in her battle stance ready to fight. She gave me my nunchucks and a dagger that I slipped into my left boot. I continued to throw her a pocket knife and a flashlight as I grabbed my own. We grabbed our backpacks and stuffed as many cans and bottles of water we could slipping in an occasional treat in. I heard a squishy substance roll down the stairs. Gloria reacted immediately and sliced it in half ultimately killing the minion. We were now prepared and ran out of our house. Glo stopped running and looked back. I turned also and saw destruction everywhere. What we knew as our home was gone.

"Will it ever be the same?" I heard a peep. My poor sister had small tears rolling down her cheeks. I pulled her into a hug. In reality I wanted to cry too, but as the older I had to be the stronger one.

"I wish I could say yes. I don't think it ever will. I'm sorry." She gave me a squeeze and took in a deep breath. We had to leave. Those small monsters were gaining on us and we had to go as far as we could as fast as we could. We separated, grabbed hands, and ran into the woods.

We slowed down taking a break. The woods were quiet, oddly still.

"What is even happening right now?" She asked.

"I'm not sure but it is a disaster. There are a lot of open questions. Why did that Flying Spaghetti Monster take our parents and not us? Why is it even doing this? Is this happening all over the world? If not why weren't we warned about it?" I counted my questions on my fingers subconsciously.

(Gloria's POV)
I heard wrestling in the bushes. "Hazel...Did you hear that?" I asked nervously.

"Ya, I did. Thank goodness it wasn't just me. Come on we better hurry." We began to walk faster but I still heard noises following close behind us. I have my green eyed sister a worried look. We ran through the dense forest, dodging trees and weaving in and out of the flora. Hazel stopped me by grabbing my arm. I looked around and right in front of me was a huge cavity in the ground.

"Thanks for the save." I still heard things behind us. A single ball of spaghetti popped put of the bushes. Then another, and another, one after one more and more came out, pushing us closer and closer to the edge of the cliff. We both drew our weapons. Mine was the sword and Hazel's nunchucks. I sliced them to pieces while my big sister threw the minions into the ravine. But it seemed like every one we had defeated, two more showed up.

Hazel nudged me. "Look at those vines. We have to swing across. You have to cut each vine as we go. We can't let them get to the other side." She pointed to the greenery hanging across huge hole.

"Are you sure that's the safest way?" I asked.

"Would you rather get eaten up by these guys? We are greatly outnumbered."

"Good point. Let's go." Hazel out her weapon back onto her belt while I fought off the spaghetti balls as we ran. Hazel swung across one by one ultimately making it to the other side. Now it was my turn. I took a deep breath and went. After five vines, I gripped on tight with all my limbs while I cut off the last five vines. The dinner beings didn't bother to come after me but I took no chances. I finally made it to the other side. I stepped onto the edge. Before I knew it I was dangling off the edge. I must have slipped on the moss.

"Hazel!" I cried. I was hanging on to an hanging root. "Help me!"

"Toss your sword over so I can grab your hand." I could tell she was just as nervous as me maybe not me. I did what she said and threw my sword over the edge. I grabbed her hand and pushed myself back onto solid ground.

"Oh my gosh that was a close one." I said gasping for hair.

"Glo, don't ever do that again." She collapsed onto the ground in relief. She slowly picked herself up as did I putting my sword into my belt. "Let's go." We started walking further and further into the wood. We didn't talk. I was okay with that. I thought about our parents. It brought tears to my eyes that they were gone. I sucked my tears back because I knew my parents wouldn't want me to dwell on their death. I felt someone grab me and pull me into the woods. They covered my mouth so I couldn't scream for my sister. They out a blind fold on me and dragged me away from my sibling. Tears were stinging me face. I couldn't loose my sister. The person greatly over powered me so I couldn't escape.

(Hazel's POV)

"Gloria, I know your probably thinking about what happened but always know I am here for you okay?" I got no response. I turned around. No one was walking with me. I looked in nearby bushes, retraced my steps, and called out for her. I was getting more frantic by the second. I ran and ran looking for my little sister.

Before I knew it, I ran someone over, knocking us both down. "Ouch...." I said. "I'm sorry. Let me help you get up." I got off the boy who looked about my age and held out my hand. He had brownish-red hair and brown eyes. His clothes consisted of blue jeans and a blue flannel. He rejected my hand and got up himself. I gave him an annoyed look, but quickly replaced it with a small smile. I held my hand out again. "Hello. My name is Hazel. What's yours?"

He hesitantly shook my hand and said, "The names Caleb. Why did you look worried earlier?"

"My sister. She is two inches shorter than me, brown eyes, dark brown hair braided over her shoulder, same jacket. Have you seen her?" I was speaking frantically. He shook my head sadly. I started pacing. "No, no, no, no, no. Gloria what are you doing? Can I tag along with you?"

"Ya you can. When you find your sister, you should leave." He must not like people very much. I spotted his cute dog.

"Alright. Who is this cutie?" I knelt down and petted my dog.

"This is Vinnie." He said finally smiling. "Come on! Let's find your sister."

"Thank you! We were walking away from her near death experience..." I began explaining.

"Wait? Near death? Why the heck was she going to die?" He interrupted.

"Oh sorry, I probably should have explain that too." I looked at the ground as I spoke. "So basically, we had to cross this ravine by swinging from vines while being chased by those small spaghetti things. She slipped on moss as she stepped onto the other side, almost falling into the earth's crevice. Anyway, we were walking for a distance, both really quiet. Then when I finally spoke up she was gone." I was explaining very fast so I had to take in a deep breath.

Caleb didn't respond so I spoke up again. "Did you hear me?"

"Yep, we should probably go to where you were before and search around." He strategized.

"Alright it's this way." We walked all the way back to the area and searched everywhere. At least a 600 foot radius. "Gloria wouldn't just run off without me. I know she wouldn't." My eyes widened in realization. "What if someone took her?"

"That could very well be possible after all this. People saw you and knew she was the most vulnerable." He stated it like a fact, like he didn't care. My blood was boiling in anger.

"Don't state it like a fact! This is my sister!!! At least have some sympathy!" I yelled and in return I got a shush.

"Shut up! I found something." He motioned me to come over. I knelt down and peered over the bush. There was a small lodge sitting in the woods actually pretty well hidden. That had to be where my sister was.

(Gloria's POV)
I felt myself walking on hardwood floor. The person taking me captive sat me on a chair and tied me too it. The ropes were tight and slightly burning my wrists and ankles. They took my backpack and weapon belt. He or she took off my blindfold, but I didn't dare say a word. I looked at the slim figure, judging on body structure, the person was a she. She wore a cloak and hood so her face and clothes were hidden.

"State your name." Her voice was cold and commanding.

"Gloria," My voice was wavering. "What's yours?"

"I'm Nova. You will not speak of this encounter to anyone. Are we clear? If you do, I will come hunt you down."

"Crystal."
