"Come on, Caleb!" My mom yelled.

"Okay, okay. I'm coming!" It was dinner time, and my mom is very strict about not letting our food get cold. Today was my favorite, spaghetti! I ran down the stairs with a wide grin on my face. "Vinnie, come on girl." I told my dog. She was a Kelpie. I poured her a bowl of dog food and refilled her water bowl. I sat down at the table with my mother and father and served myself. At our dinners, we were silent and talked at the end. I put my tomato sauce on my serving and then mozzarella cheese. I put my fork into it, and I swear I heard it screamed. I lifted it to my mouth, but the whole thing came up. Same thing happened with my parents. Two eyes popped out of it and blinked. I screamed and threw the wall causing the plate to scatter. Vinnie started backing loudly. I heard more screaming from my parents. I felt cool air in my hair, and it quickly like up to a powerful wind. I looked up and the roof of our house was disconnected. It was a monster.

A huge ball of spaghetti that was somehow floating. It has eyes the size of a small car, making the body the size of a large house. One of its arms came out and wrapped around both my parents. A huge hole appeared in the monster's body. The arm threw it into its cavity. It flew away to eat its next victims. I had tears at my eyes. Why did it skip me? Why didn't it take me, too?

I felt a slimy creature climbing up my leg. I kicked it off. Vinnie began to wrestle all three of the mini monsters, biting them, trying to scratch them off. I had to help her. I saw a golf club in the middle of floor. I grabbed it an whacked it off of my best friend. It went a mile away. I proceeded to do the same with the others, but Vinnie I think ate them.

I ran out of my house and into the neighbor. It was in complete chaos. All the adults were gone, probably taken by that floating spaghetti monster thing. I had to somehow survive this apocalypse. I ran to room go get my blue and gray school backpack. I dumped the school books out. "Won't be needing those anymore." I kept a few books for burning starters. I then traveled down to the shed to get weapons. I found a gun belt and stuck two revolvers in it. I made sure they were fully loaded and put more ammo in my backpack. I hid knives in my belt, pockets, and more in the pocket of my school bag. I found my collapsible bow that I got for my 12th birthday along with real arrows. My backpack was getting full. I grabbed a few water bottles and cans of food. I could read a map so I brought one of those too. I couldn't risk being attacked so I fled into the woods with my dog. I knew where I wanted to end up, that was Las Vegas. My face was in my map while I was strolling through the woods. I felt someone push me down into the ground.

"Ouch...." a voice said. It sounds like a teenage girl. "I'm sorry. Let me help you get up." She got off me and held out her hand. She had light brown hair and green eyes. She was a little shorter than me. She looked really worried. She wore a brown leather jacket and blue ripped jeans. I rejected her hand and got up myself. My actions must have annoyed her by looking at her face, but quickly replaced it with a small smile. She held her hand out again. "Hello. My name is Hazel. What's yours?"

I hesitantly shook her hand and said, "The names Caleb. Why did you look worried earlier?" I was curious. Her expression returned to her original worried look.

"My sister. She is two inches shorter than me, brown eyes, dark brown hair braided over her shoulder, same jacket. Have you seen her?" She was speaking frantically. I shook my head sadly. She started pacing. "No, no, no, no, no. Gloria what are you doing?" I am assuming Gloria was her name. "Can I tag along with you?" I didn't exactly want company but this girl needed some help.

"Ya you can. When you find your sister, you should leave."

"Alright. Who is this cutie?" He knelt down and petted my dog.

"This is Vinnie." I said finally smiling. "Come on! Let's find your sister."
