Chapter 4

Wooyoung glanced over at the scene in front of him before taking a small step back.

"Hello there," he said softly. He lowered the torch slightly so the light wasn't shining in their eyes. He tried to figure out what to do next but he was drawing blanks.

"Um, I'm just going to go get my Captain, tell him about what's happening here," Wooyoung said awkwardly. The boys in front of him immediately whimpered at that and curled closer, making him hesitate. Ok, so not exactly the reaction he was hoping for.

"It's ok, my Captain is great," Wooyoung said, trying to assure them. The two boys once again whimpered and clung even closer to each other. They were young, younger than Jongho from what Wooyoung could tell. One had black hair while the other had brown hair, both were wearing dirty clothes and had dirt on their faces. The black haired one was huddled in front of the brown haired one, holding him close. They were human and must have somehow snuck onto the ship.

"Ok, I won't tell my Captain. I won't tell anyone just yet," he said quickly.

"What are your names," he asked softly as he sat down. He wanted to be less imposing for the obviously scared kids.

"We're not that dumb," the black haired boy whispered.

"I'm not saying you're dumb. You're very smart actually. You somehow managed to sneak onto are ship and have been living down here for a few days without getting caught, though I'm not sure how," Wooyoung said.

"Yeah and I'm smart enough to realise what you're trying to do. You're going to find out who we are, then you'll tell your Captain and then you'll sell us back to them," the black-haired boy said. Wooyoung was about to reply when he noticed something off. He shone his light over at the boys, more so the brown-haired boy at the back. He noticed something red on his shirt, understanding it was blood.

"You're hurt. I'm a medic, I can help you," he said quickly.

"No, we don't want your help," the black-haired boy.

"You do need my help. I can't tell for sure but that looks like a lot of blood which means that it could be a large wound and he's most likely had it for a few days. It could be infected or he could be losing lots of blood. I can help you," Wooyoung said. The black-haired boy glanced back at his friend who now that Wooyoung looked properly, he noticed seemed a little pale and sweaty.

"He needs help," he added firmly. The black-haired boy hugged the other closer, his resolve breaking slightly.

"We aren't leaving here. You can, you can look at him but here. We aren't going anywhere and you can't tell anyone," he said.

"O-."

"Promise you won't tell anyone," the boy cut in.

"I promise I won't tell anyone. You two just wait here and I'll bring some stuff back to help," Wooyoung promised. It wasn't the greatest idea and it would probably be best to tell the others but the boys were clearly scared and had gone through something.

"I'll be back as soon as I can," Wooyoung said before getting up and hurrying off. He went up to the top deck, glancing around the halls before hurrying over to the medical room. He closed and locked the door quickly before hurrying over and grabbing a medical kit, opening it up and seeing what was inside. He hasn't seen what injury the kid has but he knew it could be infected so he added in some pain killers, numbing cream, bandages, wipes and stitches. The rest of the necessary things were already in the kit. He slipped the door open peaked around the corner before running over to the side where the elevator was. He took it down to the lower deck again and hurried over to where the kids were still huddled out in the corner.

"I'm back and I've got some medical tools. Don't worry, no one saw me and I didn't tell anyone," Wooyoung promised. The black-haired boy nodded before nervously glancing back at his friend.

"Can I see him please," Wooyoung asked. The black-haired boy sighed before slowly moving to the side and tugging his friend forward. Wooyoung tugged off his jacket and put it on the floor, gently moving the brown-haired boys head to rest on it.

"Where did he get hurt," Wooyoung asked.

"Um, just below his shoulder I think," the black-haired boy said.

"Ok, I'm going to need to remove his shirt," Wooyoung said. The other boy nodded and quickly helped his friend remove the shirt. Wooyoung's eyes widened and his stomach dropped as he saw the poor kids torso. There were bruises all over him and he looked severely malnourished, his ribs showing clearly. Whatever reason these kids had for sneaking onto the ship was a darn good one and Wooyoung promised himself that he would not let them end up back there. He sat down next to them and inspected the wound near the kids shoulder. He frowned as he saw there was a pretty deep cut that was definitely infected.

"It's infected but I can help. You're going to be ok," he said softly. The brown-haired boy glanced over at him with a scared look and Wooyoung's heart broke. He instinctively reached out to brush the boy's hair back but he was instantly shoved onto his back. He sat up quickly and his heart broke as he saw the black-haired boy shielding the other with his body.

"It's ok, I promise I'm not going to hurt him. I was just trying to relax him a bit more, not hurt him," Wooyoung said softly. The black-haired boy slowly sat back up, glancing at him before shuffling off to the side. Wooyoung took his place again and opened up his medical kit.

"Wh-What're you going to do to me." Wooyoung glanced over in surprise, noting it was the first time the brown-haired boy had spoken.

"Would you feel more comfortable if I told you everything before I did it," Wooyoung asked softly. The brown-haired boy nodded quickly.

"Ok. So first of all I'm going to need you to hold your friends hand. I'm going to pour some disinfected onto you room to clean it out but it's going to sting pretty badly," Wooyoung said. The black-haired boy immediately grabbed his friend's hand, holding it tightly. Wooyoung pulled out the disinfectant, pouring some of it onto a cotton pad. He started to rub it over the wound as gently as it could but it didn't do anything to stop the stinging. He could see the way the boy tensed and squeezed his friend's hand tightly.

"Sorry but it's going to help," Wooyoung said quietly. Once he had cleaned it a bit with pad, he then poured some of the disinfectant straight onto the wound, making the boy whimper.

"Sorry, sorry," he whispered.

"He's ok," the black-haired boy said.

"Now I'm going to give you some pain relief," he said, grabbing out some pills.

"It's only pain relief? Not drugs," the black-haired boy asked.

"Of course," Wooyoung said with a nod. He then popped the pills into the boys mouth and helped him swallow it with some bottled water from his kit. After taking a few sips, Wooyoung went to pull away but the boy latched onto it and started gulping quickly. Wooyoung let go and gently brushed the boys hair back as he continued to drink.

"Don't drink too fast, it'll make you sick," he said softly. The boy had paused when he touched his hair and he slowly put the drink bottle down.

"I'm going to need to stitch this up so it can heal. It's not too deep so it will only need two or three stitches but I'm going to numb your muscles so you won't feel it," Wooyoung explained.

"Ok," the boy said quickly. Wooyoung rubbed some cream around the area beside the wound, making sure not to let any of it get into the wound.

"We're going to wait 2 minutes for it to work properly," Wooyoung explained and both boys nodded. While they were waiting, Wooyoung threaded the stitch into the needle, using an alcoholic wipe to disinfect it.

"You ready," he asked, glancing at the hurt boy.

"Yeah," the boy said with a nod.

"Keep his attention on you so he doesn't get upset at seeing this," Wooyoung said. The two boys started talking to each other while Wooyoung got to work. It only took a few minutes for Wooyoung to stitch the wound closed delicately. The cream must have worked as the boys were talking quietly to each other and the focus didn't shift to what Wooyoung was doing.

"There we go, all done," Wooyoung said. The two boys glanced back over and let out a breath. Wooyoung continued to tend to the wound, putting a large bandage over it so it wouldn't get infected again.

"I'm going to give you this pill as well, it's to help your immune system fight off the infection," Wooyoung said. The brown-haired boy nodded, downing the pill with some more water.

"Is that all he needs," the black-haired boy asked.

"Medically yes. But you guys can't stay down here in these conditions. I'm going to sneak you guys down a few more things to make you more comfortable," Wooyoung said. The boys glanced nervously at each other before nodding slowly.

"I'll be back, you guys just stay safe down here," Wooyoung said before hurrying off with his medical kit. He was almost to the medical room when his name was called and he yelped, spinning around to see San walking over.

"Why do you have your medical kit," San asked, eying him up and down.

"Um, I was just going through it to make sure it had everything in it," Wooyoung lied quickly.

"You can do that in the medical room, why'd you take it out," San asked in confusion.

"Uh, cos, I um, I wanted to," Wooyoung said awkwardly.

"You're acting weird. What're you hiding? Did you do something you weren't supposed to? Did you go back to the crates and do something stupid," San asked. Wooyoung groaned and grabbed San's hand, tugging him into the medical room and closing the door quickly.

"Something has happened but I can't tell you. I just need you to trust me and not tell anyone," Wooyoung said quickly. San frowned before raising an eyebrow.

"What did you do," he asked.

"Nothing San, you just need to trust me, please," Wooyoung begged. He really doesn't want anyone finding out about the kids, not yet. They are scared enough as it is.

"I trust you Woo but I don't trust your ability to look after yourself so what happened," San asked.

"San, no. I need you to not pry on this," Wooyoung said.

"Woo-."

"San please," Wooyoung begged.

"Look, I trust you but I want to make sure you're ok. I promise I won't tell anyone whatever it is but I need to know," San said firmly.

"Promise you won't tell anyone. Please," Wooyoung pleaded, grabbing San's hands, squeezing them softly.

"I promise. Now what's going on," San asked.

"I found something on the lower deck. Or like, someone, more specifically two someone's," Wooyoung said nervously.

"Two someone's? Two people snuck on board? Wooyoung we have to tell Hongjoong," San said. He went to turn around and leave but Wooyoung tugged him back.

"San, wait. You can't tell Hongjoong, you promised," Wooyoung said.

"That was before I realised we had people sneak onto the ship," San said with a frown.

"San they're kids and they're scared. They severely malnourished, they have bruises over their body and they're scared. I've got some of their trust because I helped one of them that had an infected wound. If I tell Hongjoong then everyone is going to overwhelm them and they'll have to get locked up. They are scared and they just need to have the chance to get used to me and trust me more before we tell anyone so they won't panic," Wooyoung said. San sighed before closing his eyes and tilting his head back to think.

"How old are they," he asked.

"I don't know, younger than Jongho though," Wooyoung said.

"So still teenagers," San said and Wooyoung nodded.

"You said they were bruised, do you know the cause," San asked.

"I'm thinking they've been abused. They seemed so scared of me and it's me," Wooyoung said. San nodded in agreement.

"Please San, I need you to promise you won't tell anyone," Wooyoung pleaded.

"You said they're malnourished. I can sneak to the kitchens and make them something proper to eat. They've been sneaking bits and pieces from the kitchens but it's definitely not enough," San said.

"Really," Wooyoung asked hopefully.

"Yeah. You should also sneak some pillows and blankets for them. It's cold down there," San said.

"I was already planning that," Wooyoung said with a nod.

"Good. You go get them and I'll come down in a bit with food," San said.

"Ok. I'll talk to them about you and hopefully they won't freak out," Wooyoung said with a nod. They both left the medical room and split up. San went to the elevator while Wooyoung hurried to their sleeping quarters. He quickly grabbed one blanket from his bed, one from San's and he took both of his own pillows. He bundled them up as much as possible before pressing the open button for the door. He poked his head out, glancing around before making a run for the elevator. He let out a breath when the door closed and pressed the secret button to the lower deck.

"It's just me, I've got some things for you," he called out. He quickly went to the back, finding the boys huddled up together again.

"I've got some pillows and blankets for you. It's not much but it should keep you guys warm," Wooyoung said, placing them on the ground. Both boys looked at him with wide eyes.

"Are they ours," the black-haired boy asked.

"Well I mean technically their mine and one of my crewmates but yes, they're for you two," Wooyoung said with a nod.

"Why're you being so nice to us," the brown-haired boy asked quietly.

"Because this is how people should act. It's just basic decency. I know you guys have gone through some troubling times but you're on the Django now and we'll look after you," Wooyoung said firmly.

"What's your name," the brown-haired boy asked.

"My name is Wooyoung. Can I know your names," he asked softly. The two boys glanced at each other before nervously looking back at Wooyoung.

"I'm Chenle, this is Jisung," the brown-haired boy said quietly.

"It's a pleasure to formally meet you two. How are old are you guys," he asked.

"Um, I'm 18, Chenle is 19," Jisung said.

"Ok. Well I need to tell you guys something," Wooyoung said slowly. Jisung tensed at that and clung tighter to Chenle.

"I had to tell one of my friends but please don't panic. His name is San and he's the cook. He's not going to tell anyone else but he's going to make you guys a proper meal to have," Wooyoung said.

"Is he, is he like you," Chenle asked.

"In what way," Wooyoung asked slowly.

"Is he nice," Jisung asked.

"Oh, yeah he's great. He's very gently and he's a cuddle bug, though you guys wouldn't care about that. Point it, he's not going to hurt you," Wooyoung promised.

"Promise," Chenle asked.

"Yeah, I promise," Wooyoung said with a nod. The two boys relaxed slightly at that though they were still a little tense.

"I'm going to figure out some more stuff tomorrow considering it's already nighttime. For now, you two can wrap yourselves up in these blankets," Wooyoung said. He quickly helped them set the blankets up so there was one on the ground and one on top of it, placing the two pillows at the end so the boys could just lay in between them. All three of them jumped at the sound of the elevator opening.

"San," Wooyoung called out hopefully.

"It's me. Am I alright to come over," San called back. Wooyoung glanced at the boys and they nodded slowly.

"Yeah, we're near the back," Wooyoung said. A few seconds later, San hesitantly turned the corner with an awkward smile on his face.

"Hi," he said quietly.

"San, this is Chenle and Jisung. Boys, this is San," Wooyoung said. San looked over the two boys, his heart breaking at how small and fragile they looked.

"I'm not telling anyone, I swear. I'm just going to make sure you little ones are ok down here," San blurt out suddenly.

"Little ones," Wooyoung questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"Sorry, I panicked," San rushed out quickly. He glanced back at the two boys to see them watching him curiously.

"Anyway, Wooyoung said you two looked hungry and I know you've been sneaking some snacks from the kitchens so I've made you two some soup and buttered some bread," San said, placing down the large pot and container he had with him. Both boys sat up straighter, clearly eying the food and San's heart broke. Wooyoung wasn't kidding, these two boys seemed to be starving, their eyes displaying their hunger. San unpacked the food, pulling out two spoons before pushing the pot towards the boys and holding out the spoons. They were snatched from his hands by Jisung who quickly shuffled back away from Wooyoung and San. He gave the other spoon to Chenle and held the pot up slightly for the injured boy.

"Stop, I'm supposed to look after you Sung," Chenle whispered. San glanced at Wooyoung who looked sadly at the two boys.

"There's some bread as well," San said, pushing the container over after taking off the lid. Wooyoung grabbed San's wrist and tugged him back a bit, leaving the two boys to eat.

"Still not going to tell Hongjoong," he asked.

"Of course not. You're right, these kids look hungry and scared. The best thing we can do for them right is keep them warm and safe. Once we get them to feel safer and more comfortable, we can bring up the rest of the crew. Plus, I don't think they're any sort of threat," San said quietly. Wooyoung let out a breath and nodded thankfully.

"They definitely can't do much to hurt us, not in this state anyone. They won't open up about much but we'll need to find out where they're from eventually," Wooyoung said.

"Agreed," San said with a nod.

"We know you two are talking about us, you're not being very subtle," Chenle said suddenly, breaking the conversation.

"We aren't talking about you two," San said quickly.

"We kind of were," Wooyoung whispered, earning a whack from San.

"Don't mind him," San said with a wide grin.

"You just look creepy now," Wooyoung said, making San roll his eyes.

"He's right though. That smile is kind of creepy," Jisung said quietly. San instantly frowned, his eyes snapping over to look at the boy. Jisung flinched and curled closer to Chenle, making San's eyes widened.

"Hey, I'm not going to do anything, I'm not mad at you either," San said hurriedly. Jisung looked nervous, eying him apprehensively.

"I promise. I'm staying right over here," San promised softly. Wooyoung nibbled his lip nervously, his arm dropping down and his hand slipping into San's. San could tell the younger was nervous so he linked their fingers together and nuzzled his head against his. Wooyoung let out a breath and a light hum, relaxing slightly. When San looked back to the two younger boys, he was surprised to see that they seemed to be more relaxed then earlier. Still on edge but not as scared. He realised that seeing Wooyoung so sweet and relaxed, very non-threatening may have calmed them down a little, given then slightly more reassurance that they weren't going to get hurt. They could work with that, on account that Wooyoung is more often than not very sweet and non-threatening.

"Well, we've given you some food and blankets. That should tide you two over until tomorrow when we can figure out something else out. Just stay down here and stay safe, don't let anyone else see you. Not that they would do anything, no one on this ship would ever hurt you but it's more just so you guys don't get overwhelmed," San said.

"Ok," Chenle said.

"If you um, if you need anything-. Well I'm not really sure how you can get our attention, we'll figure that out tomorrow as well," San said.

"Yeah, we'll leave you two alone now," Wooyoung said a little awkwardly. The two of them quickly turned and headed up to the elevator.

"They're cute," San said quietly as they waited for the elevator to go up.

"They are. They're also quite dirty. We need to figure out how to sneak them in for a shower and get them some new clothes to wear. It might make them feel a bit better, perhaps a bit more confident and less scared," Wooyoung said.

"It might help but I'm not sure," San said with a sigh as the elevator opened and they stepped out.

"There you are. I've been looking for you everywhere Wooyoung," Yeosang said as he noticed the two of them leave the elevator.

"Oh, hey. Sorry, I've been with San in the greenery," Wooyoung said.

"That's ok. I just wanted to make sure you're ok. I know we were just teasing earlier but I don't want you two getting upset over it," Yeosang said gently. Wooyoung smiled happily at his concern and hugged him tightly.

"It's ok Yeo, I was just joking around as well, I wasn't actually upset," he said.

"Promise," Yeosang said quietly before placing a kiss to Wooyoung's hair.

"I promise," Wooyoung said with a grin.

"Ok good. I'm going to go get the others. It's probably time for bed anyway," Yeosang said before slipping into the elevator. Wooyoung and San continued on to the sleeping quarters to get ready for bed.

"By the way I'll need to sleep with you. I have no pillows and only one blanket and you have only one blanket," Wooyoung said as he got changed.

"Bring your other blanket over here and we can cuddle," San said as he buttoned up his shirt. They both chucked their dirty clothes down the shoot before Wooyoung hurried to San's bed with his blanket. He put the blanket on the bed before climbing in, San following a few seconds later. San laid his arm across the pillow and Wooyoung laid his head down on it quickly, letting his eyes slip closed as he curled close.

"We'll meet up in the observation room tomorrow to discuss things more. Just relax and get some sleep," San said softly.

"Ok. They're going to be ok though right," Wooyoung asked quietly.

"They'll be ok. They've survived being on the ship for a few days without anyone knowing already and they'll be fine alone for another night. We can figure something else out tomorrow. Just sleep for now," San said, ruffling Wooyoung's hair softly. Wooyoung nodded and yawned tiredly, nuzzling into San's neck. San held him softly and let his eyes slip closed as he relaxed beside the younger, hugging him softly.
