thirty two - a list.
Dear journal,
All senior English classes in our school are taking a class trip to England for three weeks. They say it is to "study those with an accent", but everyone knows that no studying ever happens anyway. Needless to say, I was ecstatic! I'd never been out of the country before.

England. I was actually going to England! And I got to go with Kirstie, and Malory, Esther, Kevin, Avi, Scott, it sounded perfect! A three week trip with my closest friends? I smiled when I turned in my form that was signed by my parents.
Each room had two roommates. When you found your roommate, you'd go to a paper on the wall and sign both of your names by which room you wanted. Obviously, I was going to ask Scott. I'm sure he'd room with me. I mean, a few weeks in a room alone together sounded like exactly what I needed.
I spotted Scott's tall, blonde head over the crowd of people. He was talking to Kirstie, laughing about something. I ran over and hugged him from behind. He wrapped his arm around me with a smile.
"Hey, cutie," he greets. I smile and hug him a little tighter.
"Morning, Mitchy," Kirstie greets. "You look happy," she notices.
"Duh," I say. "We're going to England!" I exclaims excitedly. The two smile. "Speaking of..." I said and looked to Scott. "Care to share a room with me?" I ask. Scott's eyes widened for a moment as he cleared with throat.
"Um, yeah," he says. "I mean, I would love to, of course I would, but, uh, Avi kinda already asked me..." he says anxiously.
"Oh," I say softly. "Okay, sure. Yeah. I'll just...find someone else, I guess," I answer. I looked down for a moment. Why would I even think Scott would room with me? Of course he'd room with his best friend. I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Hey," Scott spoke softly. "Just because we ain't rooming together doesn't mean we can't hang out the whole time, right?" He asks. "Plus, if ya ever want some me and you time, I'll just kick Avi out, I ain't mind." I shake my head.
"No, it's okay. I'll figure something out."

It was the day before the trip and I was still roommate-less. I guess it was my fault, since I never asked anyone anyway. I didn't know who else to ask. Kevin was with some kid in his science class, so he was out of the question.
I was out of options. The list when up today of roommates and their room numbers. Those who didn't choose their roommate got randomly assigned.
It was after school when I went to check, so there wouldn't really be a line. I slowly walked up and searched for my name. After a short moment, I found it.
Room 204- Mitchell Grassi and Alexander Kirk
I shut my eyes slowly and sighed. I guess this way okay, right? Scott can't even get mad because he isn't rooming with me, so it should be fine, right?
"Hey, roomie," I hear suddenly. I turn around to see Alex. I smiled softly. "Have a minute?" He asks. I nodded slowly. He sighed. "I, uh, just wanna make sure we're good and all."
"Yeah, of course," I reassure him. "We're fine, yeah."
"Alright, cool," he says. "Let's have fun in England, alright? I don't want us to be awkward or anything. I mean, we can still be friends, right?"
"That's sounds great," I say with a small smile. "Let's do that," he smiles.
"Awesome, awesome. Well, glad we could talk. One more thing, I know you and Scott are datin' an all-" he starts.
"We aren't," I say suddenly. He sighs.
"Okay, well, whatever you are, I just want him to know that I'm not a bad guy and I won't try anything with y'all," he explains. I nod once, watching as Alex waved goodbye as he walked away.
I sighed and leaned against the wall, enjoying the brief silence. I had about fifteen seconds to myself before I was approached by someone else.
"Why were you talkin' to him?" Scott asks defensively. I take a deep breathe.
"Nice to see you too, how was your day?" I ask sarcastically. Scott tilts his head. "Am I not allowed to talk to him?" I ask.
"I'd prefer if you wouldn't," he says. I raised an eyebrow to him and glared, giving him a look I knew he'd be scared of. "Okay, you can, I was just asking why," he says, giving in to me.
"Because," I start, watching as Scott search the form for my name. "We are-"
"You're rooming with him?!" He asks. "Mitch, what the hell?!"
"I didn't ask to be assigned with him, okay? I didn't make any plans with anyone else because I had assumed we were going to room together!" I snap. I shake my head. "Sorry," I mutter. I felt his hands reach out to hold my hips, his head leaning on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry for bein' all defensive," he says apologetically. "I just ain't trust him, and you're mine." I tensed.
"Yeah, somethin' like that," I mumble.
"Hmm?" He mutters. I shake my head and brush off the subject. I tilt his head up.
"Alex just wanted to make sure we were on good terms, and we are," I explain to him. "He also wants you to know that he isn't messing with us," I say. I lightly pecked his lips. "Quit worrying about it, its fine." He nods.
"I know it is, but it's hard for me to think Alex ain't planning to ruin me, ya know?"
"Give him a chance," I say with a smile. Scott nods again.
"You need a ride home?" He asks sweetly.
"I don't need one, but I'll definitely take one," I reply. Scott chuckles and grabs my hand, leading me to his car. "England is tomorrow," I remind him. He nods.
"Yes, it indeed is," he replies. "Haven't even packed yet."
"Are you excited?" I ask with a smile. He shrugs. "What? You aren't?"
"It's not that I'm not excited, it just that I've already been there twice," he chuckles. "I'm a traveler, remember?"
"I do," I say. "I'm still jealous that you've been to Italy and I haven't." He chuckles.
"I'll have to take you there one day."
