Scott finally came out of the bathroom after Avi had left and attacked me with a hug. I hugged back with an uneasy feeling settling in my stomach. He got situated on his bed fully, laying down and waiting for me to join him. I slowly made my way next to him and tried to relax when his arms fell upon me. He kissed my cheek once. I sighed softly, hoping it'd go unnoticed by Scott.
"Whatcha wanna do?" Scott asks, his hand running up and down my arm. I shrugged silently. He took a short breathe. "I, uh, I know something, maybe," he stutters. I tensed even more after knowing what Avi had said.
"What?" I ask frantically. Scott took a sip of a water bottle next to him. He shook his head.
"I don't know," he mutters. "I just figured we could kiss a little, I guess," he shrugs.
I was okay with kissing. Just kissing. Anything else wasn't happening. I simply nodded slowly. He turned my head towards him and placed his mouth to mine. I quickly kissed him back, my hand finding his cheek.
He quickly made the kiss more than what I wanted, but I didn't say anything about it. Ours mouths moved quicker and his hands moved to my waist, his thumb sometimes dipping into my waistband. I heard my phone buzz once, but at the moment, I was not worried about it.
It suddenly buzzed once more, and than again. I pushed Scott back by his chest. This text must've been important, right? Scott sighed as I leaned over and checked my phone, his eyes clearly glued to my phone as well.
Alex: Mitch u need to come back ASAP
Alex: I'm panickin Mitch pls
Alex: I don't know what to do
I sighed and looked back at Scott once. I quickly sat on the edge of his bed before standing up. Scott groaned and sat up as well.
"Are you serious?" He asks, clearly aggravated. I slowly nodded and slipped my shoes on my feet. "Really? You've been with him all vacation, I can't get one night with you?"
"He's obviously in some sort of issue right now, Scott. I need to be there for him," I explain. Scott shakes his head. "Please don't give me attitude right now."
"He's doin' it on purpose," Scott retorts. "I know he is. He's plannin' something. I mean, he's been with you since we got here! You went to dinner with him, you went shopping with him, and hiking! Hiking was supposed to be an 'inner circle only' kinda thing! Plus, I planned on spending time with you." He complains.
"He went hiking because he was ditched and had nowhere to go," I explain. "And you were all over me while we hiked, Scott."
"Because Alex was there," he answers.
"Oh," I start. "So you can only show me affection when you're trying to prove a point? Because any other time is such a hassle, right?" Scott took a deep breathe. "Look, I don't know if you've ever tried this, but I'm trying to be a good friend."
"All I'm saying is that I think he is using you," Scott says.
"When are you going to understand that not everyone has time to inconvenience you!" I exclaim. "He's over it, Scott, and you should be too." I grabbed my phone and all my other belongings before walking to the door.
"Mitch, please don't leave."
"Alex has an issue that I can guarantee is more important that kissing you right now," I started to open the door. Before I shut it, I turned to him again. "And I'm not here to have sex with you," and I shut the door, quickly walking down to the elevator.
--
"What is the issue, Alex?" I ask when I walk inside our hotel room, tossing my things into my bed. Alex was pacing back and forth and sat down when I turned to him. He took a deep breathe.
"So you know how he said that he was seeing someone, right?" I nodded once, instantly knowing who 'he' was. "Well," Alex sighs. "The guy he is seeing is someone we know," I widened my eyes, wishing for him to continue. "He's talking to Avi."
"Fuck," I mutter.
"I can't do this then, right?" Alex answers. "I'm trying to get on everyone's good side, I should stop talking to him now before I get too involved." I sighed loudly.
"Alex, no," I say. "I don't know," I continue. Avi doesn't deserve Jackson like Alex does. Alex hasn't had a nice time recently, and if Avi is willing to just toss Jackson to the side like garbage, than Alex should be able to see him, right? "I think you should tell him how you feel, and see what happens."
"But what if it ruins what him and Avi have?" Alex asks. I sigh.
"I don't think Avi really treats him how he should be treated," I say quietly.
"What do you mean?" He asks.
"He kind of asked someone else for there number and called her 'smokin'," I shrug. "We tried to talk to him about how Jackson would feel, but he just doesn't seem to care. I don't want to be a 'snitch' or anything, but Jackson deserves someone who can give them all their attention. Someone like you," Alex blinked a few times before nodding.
"I'm telling Jackson," Alex says once.
"Wait-"
"No, Mitch. He doesn't deserve that! He's so sweet and kind. He told me he was holding back because of Avi, and if what you said is true, he needs to know."
"I'm in deep shit," I whisper.
"What?"
"Nothing," I say and throw on a smile, fake as ever. Alex nodded and pulled out his phone to text Jackson. As soon as he sent it, I knew there was no way that there wouldn't be any drama out of this.
