And the mountains stand taller than any god, gracing us with their shadows, which feel like the chilling touch of nature upon my spine. I breath in the air, the rich aroma of it all to cloud my nostrils in the wish to overtake me, and I allow myself to feel the earth within my aching bones, to nourish me as if it were my mother. There is a lake stretching before these graceful mountains, a sheet of glass that flickers in the moaning light of the sun, and I wonder if the water is as cold as everything I have ever known and will ever know. I wonder if it feels like the heat in Dexter's palms.
He sighs next to me and I feel just a little bit safer. I can tell he feels the same way. For the world is not as scary as we once thought it was, and although man has cursed us with existence, at least is blessed us with a home.
As we leave, I can still taste sunshine on my tongue.
