Chapter 58

Maids started packing her things right after she woke up, Willow skipped her classes as she wanted to get ready to leave for her grandma's.

The majority of their clothes were taken to the penthouse as Ryker and she decided to live there after the ceremony, while a small bag was prepared for her short stay at her grandmother's house.

Ryker left early in the morning as he was called by David to be shown a couple of files before he could take over the position, last night felt so fast for him as he already started feeling uneasy about his Willow leaving their room but he knew he had to be patient as it will only last for a few days.

"I see you already packed your things!" Exclaimed Jennifer once she entered Ryker's room.

"Yeah! It's about time." Nodded Willow before sitting down on the couch exhausted from all the unnecessary packing she had to do, if only Ryker's grandmother didn't order people to bring all their staff to the mansion.

"Mother is not happy with this, though!" Commented the older woman.

"I'm not happy either," spoke Willow while looking into Jennifer's eyes.

"Why don't you just live here after the ceremony, a mansion is much better than a penthouse after all."

"Shall I call you aunt Jennifer or just Jennifer?" Asked Willow.

"Whatever suits you."

"We don't want to stay here because we are more comfortable living alone, aunt Jennifer." Explained Willow.

"It still doesn't make sense but anyway." She shrugged earning herself silence from Willow.

Jennifer left the room once she saw that she won't get to Willow with her tactics and plans. Willow, on the other hand, sighed in frustration, she really wanted to go spend time with her grandmother but she got used to Ryker and now she doesn't want to spend a whole week away from him.

The young lady walked downstairs and sat in the living room where she found something a little close to what she would call chaos, the mansion had dozens of maids cleaning here and there and getting ready for the wedding ceremony.

Willow looked at the old woman who sat there ordering people before she addressed her, "Isn't it a little early for all of this?"

"No, less than a week until the ceremony I want it to be the best wedding party in the whole country, take a look at that tablet and choose which cake you want." She informed her.

Willow took a look over the available pictures before deciding on one, "I like this cake, but I trust you to choose the best for Ryker and I's ceremony." She smiled trying to stay on her good side.

"Don't worry, I'll let them prepare the one you chose. You'll have to come back tomorrow for the dress fitting."

"It's going to be here?"

"Of course, I want you to wear something nobody can wear around the world. We'll get the designs tomorrow and you can choose and modify them." Declared the old woman.

Willow was indeed taken aback before she heard Beth coming from the entrance, "Good morning, beautiful."

"Good morning, Beth."

"We're going to go shopping tomorrow, and I don't want to hear no for an answer."

"But,"

"Tomorrow is the dress fitting, Beth. Take after tomorrow for the shopping." Informed the grandmother.

"Cool, that suits me." Cheered a happy Elizabeth

It didn't take too long for Ryker to go home as he promised Willow to take her to her grandmother's place, not to mention that they had a couple of things to deal with before he drives her there.

"Hello everyone." He greeted them while entering the living room area.

"Hello, champion." Greeted a happy grandmother.

"How's your day going, grandma?" He asked before kissing her forehead.

"Amazing now that I saw you." She smiled earning a smile back.

"Willow, are you ready?" He asked.

"I am, my bag is upstairs I'll go bring it."

"No, I will do it. But come with me, we need to talk." He ordered.

"Sure." She nodded without second-guessing.

Willow, for the first time, felt like she wasn't in control of her emotions and she no longer can blame it on her period. She felt happy because she was going back to Feline's house but she felt like she was leaving part of her here.

Ryker opened the door for both of them before letting her in and locking it after. He sat down on the couch while she imitated him.

"I'm officially the dean of the university, I signed the contract today but I will take the position after our honeymoon." He informed.

Willow didn't help but smile in happiness, she was happy about the step he took, despite him being a rich heir and spending his time around from one club to another, Ryker was indeed a brilliant student and his intelligence shows even in daily life matters.

"Congratulations, Boss. I'm proud of you." She hugged him before joining their lips together.

Ryker was taken aback for a micro second before taking the lead, he loved how comfortable she got with kissing him or generally being close to him.

"That's your gift for now." She smiled with a blush tinting her cheeks while his right hand cupped her left cheek in admiration. Ryker was falling for the little minx without him being aware, he has never experienced anything like her and he was all in for it.

"Is this what you wanted to talk about?" She rested her hand on his chest.

"Well, that's the most important part."

"Well, indeed it is." She smiled, "So now my husband is the dean, spicy." She teased making him throw a short chuckle at her comments.

"We're going to go buy your wedding ring,"

"But I have one." She cut him off.

"That's an engagement ring, love. After that I have a gift for you then we can go to your grandmother's house." He smiled slowly pecking her over and over again.

"What's the gift?" She asked in curiosity.

"It's a surprise, baby." He winked.

"Shall we go?" She smiled earning herself a nod before Ryker took her luggage in one hand and her hand in the other leading them to his car.

Choosing the ring didn't take too long as Willow knew what she wanted from the beginning and despite choosing one of the most expensive rings the store had Ryker was more than happy to provide it.

"Won't I be wearing it now?" She asked in confusion once they sat in his car.

"No darling, that's for the ceremony." He informed.

"Okay, if you say so." She shrugged not really understanding the reason behind such a decision since they have already signed the marriage contract a few months ago.

"Now the surprise?" She asked her tone not concealing her excitement a bit.

Ryker nodded with a smile on his face before he drove to one of the best areas in their city, stopping in front of a tall building, he opened the door for his partner and helped her out.

"Why are we here?" She asked in confusion.

"Shush, stop asking many questions." He spoke before entangling their fingers together and leading her inside the building and into the elevator.

Ryker opened one of the doors with a key he took out of his back pocket before letting her go in first.

Willow's eyes fell on a man in a black suit sitting on one of the many couches in the apartment.

"Ryker, now I'm scared." She walked behind him grabbing into his biceps, she didn't know what his intentions were, she didn't know what he wanted to do or what the other man is here for but the only person she knew is Ryker so it was her only option.

"Why are you scared? That's my lawyer Simone, Simone this is my wife Willow." He introduced them while grabbing her by the waist and bringing her closer to him in an attempt to make her feel safe.

"Hello, sir." She greeted in alert.

"Hello, Mrs Hendrix." He nodded before adding, "I'm here to get your signature on some papers."

"What papers?" She asked addressing the lawyer before locking eyes with Ryker who helped her sit next to him on the opposite couch to where Simone sat.

"This building is my wedding gift for you, I will provide for you but I still want you to have a source of income. All the apartments except this one are rented and the rent will be yours." Explained a happy Ryker.

"No, no. No, I can't accept this. This is too much Ryker." She refused while shaking her head.

"Why not, it's the least I can give you for our wedding." He reasoned.

"I don't need all of this, you just bought me a ring worth the price of a penthouse. I can't take more."

"Willow, I'm trying to protect you. You will be my partner and the mother of my heirs, I want you to be financially stable."

"I will be but not with your money, Ryker." She stood up.

"Leave." He ordered the lawyer who left to one of the rooms.

"Why are you so difficult? You know that this is not a favour, this is your right, it's a wedding gift and you cannot refuse it."

"I know it's a gift but it's too much, you didn't say a car, a vacation somewhere, it's a BUILDING Ryker." She explained.

"Okay, you will have the building under your name for a year show me how you can start your own source of income. What about that?"

"Please, I can't accept." She pleaded.

"Simone." He called for his lawyer who hurried inside, "Do you have ink?" He added.

"No, Ryker. please." She knew what he was planning.

"We started a bank account for your wife sir and here's the credit card." Informed the lawyer handing them the metal card, "The total of the rent will be versed in this account on a monthly basis." He added.

"Brilliant, thank you, Simone. You can leave." Nodded Ryker.

"Why are you doing this?" Asked an annoyed Willow.

"Because I need to protect you."

"From what exactly?" She raised an eyebrow.

"Nothing specific, but it will be nice if you have your own source of income."

"It is not my own if given by someone else."

"It is your own if it's a wedding gift." He reasoned.

"Anyway, let's go. Feline must be waiting for us."

Ryker shook his head in disbelief before leading both of them to his car, he understood for a fact that Willow is not a gold digger and he respected that but he didn't like her not accepting his gift.
