10:41 AM. NEW NINJAGO CITY

"why do you have a fantasy book?" elena says, sitting next to y/n at break. they're sitting down in the cafeteria, chilling at the front. the two girls have full days today so y/n is already partly exhausted. astrology is getting harder. and with a levels coming soon, it might possibly destroy her. 

"it's a gift for the ice ninja," she says, fixing the white bow on it. 

"and the cake?"

"the black ninja,"

"and what did you get the lightning ninja?" elena asks, not seeing anything. y/n shrugs. 

"i didn't know what to get him," she says. "do you think he likes video games, being lightning and electrical and everything? i was thinking that first but which one? there's loads and i'm not really a gamer,"

"what are you guys talking?" samantha asks, her curly ginger hair in a messy bun, sitting on elena's side as jennifer sits down next to y/n.

"hey girls!" y/n smiles, giving jennifer a side hug as elena puts her arm around samantha. "you know the fundraiser last year i wanted to give something to the ninja's as a thank you but i'm not sure what to get the lightning ninja,"

"something blue maybe?" a voice says, joining the conversation. y/n turns, seeing cole holding an green apple and jay next to him. jay makes at face at cole before, smiling at the girls. "did you have any ideas?"

"y/n said something to with some video games," elena says, looking at the two boys weirdly. she's not exact a massive fan of lloyd at the moment. but lloyd's friends are fine. maybe. 

"do you think it's a bad idea?"

"no," cole says, looking over to jay with a smirk. "what do you think?"

"i think you should shut it," jay says, narrowing his eyes at his best friend. "but gaming isn't a bad idea. do you really need to get the ninja's anything?"

"yes," y/n says. "i do,"

"maybe just a massive cake,"

"why is food the only thing you talk about?" nicholas says, walking over to the group. "when you went gym with us, it was literally the only thing on your mind,"

"what can i say?" cole says with a shrug. "i like food,"

"we know," jay comments, making cole nudge him. 

"hey, princess," nicholas says, sitting down. "gremlins," he nods at samantha and jennifer who both smile at him, making silly faces. "elena, your man is in the library if you wanted to know. he said he texted you and just wanted to make sure you got it,"

"yes, i know. i got it, don't worry," elena says, shaking her phone side to side. "i'll see him at lunch. anyways, back to the conversation,"

"i think the lightning ninja would like..." nicholas hums, rubbing his chin. "something blue?"

"that's what i said!" cole exclaims. "great minds think alike,"

"don't know if my mind is so great if i'm thinking like you,"

"hey!" cole says. "that's rude!"

"what did you get the other ninja's?" jennifer asks y/n as she's sipping on her dr pepper. 

"fantasy book for the ice ninja," y/n lists off, showing the group. jay and cole discreetly look at each other. how did y/n know that zane liked fantasy books? wait, was lloyd meeting her as the green ninja? that can't be right. can it? but what about the whole date fiasco? what is lloyd doing? "cake for the earth ninja. the green ninja...? i don't know. and i think i'm just going to find some video games for the blue ninja,"

"do you think the fire ninja and water ninja would feel left out?" samantha asks. y/n opens her mouth before closing it. she didn't think of that. oh no. 

the bell rings, making the girls and nicholas get up. 

"stop making her stress," elena says, watching as y/n's mouth drops open again. "stop stressing and get to your next lesson," she says, poking y/n's nose.

"okay, okay," y/n mumbles, swatting elena's hand away. "have a good lesson you guys," she says, walking  away. no one else does her a levels. and since she just had astrology, she will be doing psychology next.

samantha sits in her english class, jennifer besides her. samantha loves english. she loves english literature and english language. and also loves religious studies. she's not religious herself but it's very interesting learning about someone else's way of life. 

jennifer is a stem bae, unlike samantha. maths, chemistry, biology and psychics are her best friends. she's always been good at it. even at primary school level. that might be because her parents drone on about how they sacrificed everything to come to new ninjago city and their oldest daughter must be successful, but who knows. 

jennifer is a lesbian. she found this about herself and she's happy. she's happy that she's found herself. but that bad thing about it is that she has a crush on samantha. a big one. even though they only started being friends at the start of the academic year, she can't help it. but she knows samantha has a soulmate bond. and it's not her. 

fate is pretty cruel, huh?

"jenny," samantha whispers, pointing at her phone. jennifer nods, bringing her phone out. they sit in the middle so it's okay. their teacher can't see them that easily.

"samantha banks, jennifer jackson," the two girls look up, seeing mr gardener looking down at them. "is there something interesting on those phones?"

"uh..."

"no sir," jennifer says for the both of them. samantha can be a bit...what's the word...mouthy at times? "you were just talking about how we should be writing a formal letter and address it to the mayor,"

"i see," mr gardener sniffs, walking back to the front and continuing his lesson. jennifer and samantha laugh quietly with each other, putting their phones back in their bags.

elena stands outside y/n's last class, scrolling through her phone. mattias went home with nicholas as basketball practice is cancelled. but mattias gave elena a lot of kisses to make up for it. which she loved. but she will never admit it. 

"hey," y/n says, being the first one to walk out of her class. being captain of a club gives you those perks. "you ready for cheer?"

"yeah," elena says before sighing. "morro still hasn't texted me," she says, showing y/n her phone. about unread thirty texts on direct messages. unseen three face times. twenty snaps which are left on delivered. 

"it'll be okay," y/n says. "is there anyone else that you can text? that might know where he is?"

elena shakes her head, rubbing her face as they walk over to their lockers to get their cheer uniform. 

"hey, he'll be okay," y/n says, locking hand with elena. "and if you think that it's life threatening, i can get us a flight to china in a second,"

"sometimes i forget how rich you are," elena say, making a face. 

"richest girl in the whole of ninjago!" y/n says, dramatically, flipping her [hijab/braids/twists] which makes elena laugh. and that's exactly what she needed. and of course it was her plantinic soulmate who could figure it out.

"okay," y/n says, clapping her hands together and getting attention of the cheer squad. "obviously we have cheer routines for basketball home and away games," she starts. "but as i said before, challengers are coming and we need to win," beside the last time they did win was when y/n's mother went to ninjago high. which was a while ago as you can guess. "so me and our amazing vice captain," elena rolls her eyes as y/n motions to her. "thought that the best song that we should use is eve, psyche and the bluebeard by le sserafim,"

"does everyone know the song?" elena asks, looking at the rest of the cheer squad. y/n does. and she loves it so much. 

a few words of agreement and disagreement fill the sports hall. elena gives y/n her unlocked phone, letting the girl on spotify and press on the song. 

it start playing, y/n watching everyone get used to the beat of the song. the song replays, y/n weakly showing everyone some of the movements that she had planned. 

"it'll go something like this," she continues, until and song ends and does the dance movements all over again. "let's split up into small groups. if anyone has any ideas on this dance, just let me know!" 

obviously, jennifer and samantha are going to stay in the same group as each other. they don't really have any other friends. not that it's their fault, but hanging out with the princess of ninjago and people older than you gets you a target for bullying so. 

"sam, jen, come over here," y/n says, calling them over. they walk over, getting in position at the front of the group that y/n has just put them in. they're smaller so they have to, it's easier to see y/n and elena. 

eve, psyche and the bluebeard by le sserafim starts playing elena doing the moves as people start to copy her, y/n watching them. her eyes narrow as she starts to look around to see who isn't getting this down quickly. not that she's going to kick them out of the team. oh, no, no, no. y/n is way too nice for that. she's going to give them more attention so that they can get the dance. 

"i'm going to do some rounds," y/n says, tapping elena's shoulder. elena nods, pulling y/n closer so she can whisper something to her. 

"let me know who doesn't get it," y/n nods, walking around the sports hall. most people seem to get the dance. and even though it is hard, it will be worth it when they win challengers. if they win.

"so you are seeing her as the green ninja?" cole asks, crossing his muscular arms as he looks at lloyd. jay stands next to him, also looking at lloyd.

the three of them away from the monastery, so that the rest of their family can't hear it. 

lloyd continues to look down, trying to avoid their gaze. 

"lloyd, this is serious," jay says, his aurburn curls blowing in the wind. his bright orange scarf around his neck. his adoptive mother made it for him. she's very good with stuff like that. "and you know i hate talking about serious stuff. it's literally a sign that nothing is going to go well,"

"if you're seeing her as the green ninja, why did you reject her as your soulmate?" cole asks softly. "why are you breaking her soulmate bond with you?"

"i don't want to talk about this anymore," lloyd says, walking away from them. jay and cole look at each other before turning to talk to lloyd or try abd get some answers to see that's he's gone.
