TRAVIS STOLL

Uhh, sometimes I can be so stupid...I just ruined my chances with the girl I crushed on since I was a child. Good job, Travis, good job! My first thought was to run after her, but I realized that in the angry mood she was, and with the whole camp watching, me trying to apologize would probably end up with me punched in the face. The whole camp was talking and some of them wanted to ask me questions, but I just shook them of and went to my cabin. I lay on my bed and muttered: "I'm an idiot."
Connor's head appeared from his bunk.
-No you're not.
I gasped and put my hand on my heart.
-Gods, Connor, you're going to kill me one day if you keep scaring me like that!
He gave me a sarcastic smile then climbed down so he can stay near me.
-How are you even here? I asked.
-Well I saw the incident...
-...the whole camp saw it.
-...and I figured out you'd come here after it so I ran to our cabin. I'm a genius, right?
I nodded ironically. Connor looked at me and, seeing my disappointed face, he tried to cheer me up.
-Come on, brother, it's not your fault!
-Yes, it is.
-No it's not! Look, you protected her from that creepy guy, you beat him up so bad, I think he won't walk straight for the next two months.
I laughed a little. He continued.
-Travis, I understand, you were carried off a little and you wanted to show the whole camp that this girl's your soulmate. She's mad at you for now but it's alright, it won't last long. She'll realize that you did what you did because you love her.
I smiled.
-Do you really think so?
-I don't think so, I'm sure. You're my best friend, Travis, and I know you. You're a great guy and Katie should be grateful that you're her soulmate.
I grinned and ran my hand through Connor's hair, messing it up.
-Who's the best little brother ever? I asked, mockingly.
-Oh, shut up! Connor responded pushing my hand away, laughing.
~TIME SKIP BECAUSE I'M LAZY~
It's been 2 weeks and Katie still hasn't talked to me. Every time I tried to tell her something, she turned to her siblings or her friends and started talking to them. Today at dinner I kept looking at her, hoping she would look back so that I could start a conversation. But no, she ignored me completely, acting interested in her food, even if I was sure she saw me staring.
That night I couldn't sleep. I kept tossing and turning in my bed. I started to regret drinking a large cup of coffee at dinner. My siblings kept snoring and I mumbled angrily under my breath. Finally, I decided I would just sit a little on our cabin's porch. The harpies weren't allowed to attack us if we stayed there. So I walked out. I looked around at the cabins. They looked so beautiful under the moonlight. Cabin 1, cabin 2, cabin 3, cabin...wait, is that Katie on cabin's 4 porch!? Yes, I could recognize her even from the distance. It was a night full of light, because thousand of stars were shining under the full moon, and Katie looked as if she was looking at them. I decided that I would go to her, maybe now I can finally apologize. I slithered to her cabin, as silently as I could, hoping the harpies wouldn't find me. I reached her cabin's porch and Katie finally saw me. She looked surprised and for a second she was about to stand up and enter her cabin, but I stopped her.
-No, please, I just want to talk!
She looked at me hesitantly then sighted and sat back down.
-How didn't I saw you coming? she asked, confused.
-Hey, I'm a son of Hermes, I'm an expert at pranks, and most pranks include camouflage.
She just rolled her eyes.
-Can I sit down?
She nodded absently.
-So? What are you doing here? she interrogated.
-I couldn't sleep, so I decided I'd just stay on my cabin's porch. But then I saw you and, yeah, now I'm here.
She remained silent.
-What about you?
-Bad dreams, she simply answered.
I wanted to ask her what she dreamed about, but I decided that it's better if I don't. We sat there in silence, watching the sky, none of us saying a word. Then I looked at the ground.
-I'm sorry for showing the whole camp your tattoo.
She scanned me with her deep green eyes and I felt a shiver down my spine. Then she sighted, looking away.
-It's alright. You were overexcited. I guess it happens.
I looked at her surprised.
-Really? You actually forgave me?
She looked at me and gave me a tiny smile:
-I can't stay mad at you for forever, dummy.
I laugh a little.
-Well, that's a relief.
She giggles. After a long pause, she quietly says:
-Thanks for beating that guy for me.
-Well he deserved it. Every punch, every kick..
-Woah, woah, slow down there!
We both started laughing. A comfortable silence followed. Our hand were next to each other, and I couldn't help. I slowly and hesitantly took her hand in mine, afraid of her shooting it away. But she didn't. She accepted me holding her hand, even if she looked away. I smiled to myself. Our tattoos started glowing when our hands touched. I could have stayed there forever. Then she looked at me. I looked at her. We looked in each other's eyes and our heads started getting closer, closer then...
BAM! The door of Demeter's cabin opened and Miranda appeared.
-Katie, here you are! I saw that the bed was empty and...oh..
She suddenly observed me, and saw the fact that we were holding hands.
-I'm sorry, I'll just...
-No, Miranda, it's alright! Katie exclaimed, standing up. Did you have a nightmare again?
She nodded.
-But it's alright, I'm okay, if you want I'll leave you wi...
-No, Miranda, everything's cool, I responded. We were just talking. Katie, go stay with your sister.
Katie gave me an awkward nod.
-Goodnight, Travis.
-Goodnight, Miranda, goodnight Katie! I said as I made my way to my cabin. Sweet dreams.
