Travis Stoll
Oh, I can't believe that dumb loser stole Katie! Ok, Michael was alright, he was a good guy, but seriously, HOW DARE YOU!? Oh, I couldn't let this happen. I was going to spy on them. Yeah, don't call me creepy, I just need to know what happens at that date.
I put on my best camouflage clothes. I even wanted to paint two lines on my cheeks, but I guessed that would have been too much. Then I waited in the bushes next to cabin 4 for Katie to walk out.
-Mirandaaaaa! I heard Katie yell.
-Calm down Katie, you look wonderful!
-Are you sure? Doesn't this make me look weird?
-Katie, you look wonderful in it!
-Ok...And my hair?
-It's awesome! Now go go go!
Just when she said that I saw Michael Yew coming in the direction of Demeter's cabin. He was wearing jeans and a green shirt. He actually looked nice, but all I could was roll my eyes from the bushes where I was hiding.
Miranda whispered:
-Look, he's here!
Katie walked out and gods, she looked awesome!
☝Katie's outfit.
I realized she was wearing that bracelet specially so that her tattoo would be hidden. I saw Michael smile.
-You look gorgeous, Katie.
She blushed.
-You looked wonderful too, Michael...
-Don't be shy, you truly are beautiful!
Katie looked at the ground, smiling, and Michael took her hand.
-I know I told you that we'll meet at the forest but I wanted to walk you there.
I really wanted to yell at Michael and tell him to let go of her hand, but I didn't. I knew I couldn't. They started walking to the forest and I followed from behind, careful not to be seen. Then Michael told Katie to cover her eyes. She did as he said. When she opened them she saw a picnic in the woods. She gasped happily and exclaimed:
-It's wonderful, Michael!
I muttered angrily under my breath. Why does he has to be so cliche!? Ok, it was cute, but the idea should have been mine!
They sat down and started to talk, laugh, share memories. I never saw Michael smiling for such a long time. Maybe I should leave, they actually suit each other really good...
Just when I wanted to leave them alone I heard Katie say:
-Hey, do you like chocolate bunnies?
My head spun really fast and I saw Michael give her a confused look.
-Chocolate bunnies? What a weird question? Why?
-Oh, nothing...Katie said rubbing the bracelets covering the tattoo nervously.
Michael saw her move and his smile disappeared. A sad expression covered his face.
-Katie, I have something to tell you...
-What, Michael?
-It's...Ah, I can't tell you!
-Michael, why can't you tell me? You can tell me anything!
-But...If I tell you this, you won't feel the same about me.
This came out as a whisper. Katie put a hand on his shoulder.
-Michael, I'll always feel the same way about you, no matter what!
Auch!
Michael looked at her fearfully, then he showed her his hand, looking away. The place where the tattoo should have been was completely blank. Katie looked at him confused. I was as confused as her, wasn't he like 15? Shouldn't it be there? Then it hit me. Katie also looked as if she understood. Realization hit her as she whispered:
-You don't have a soulmate...
Gratitude washed over me. Then I felt bad for feeling good. I should have felt bad for the poor guy! Knowing you don't have a soulmate at all must be so cruel!
-Oh, Michael! I'm so sorry! Katie exclaimed, in a sad voice.
-You have one, don't you?
Katie looked confused.
-What are you talking about?
-You have a soulmate. I see the way you're always looking at your wrist. And it's alright. I'm happy for you.
He didn't sound happy. He looked sad.
-But we can't be together. I can't stop you from meeting your soulmate.
-Michael! Katie gasped, her eyes watering.
-I'm sorry! I just want you to be happy.
He forced a smile, held her hand one more time then whispered:
-Don't cry, please!
He said that even if he looked as if he was holding back tears. Man, this was so sad, I might have cried a little in the bushes. Then he stood up and walked away. Katie sat there startled a few seconds, analyzing what just happened. Then she cried. The sun was setting and I guess she was exhausted because after about 10 minutes she fell asleep. Everyone was at dinner right now, and I couldn't bare letting her sleep on the ground. I picked her up and put her into her bed. The cabin was empty. I walked out and walked to dinner. Connor greeted me.
-What happened?
-Long story.
Miranda kept asking where Katie was. I said that I saw her entering her cabin. She ran away, with some food for her sister. I saw Michael sadder than ever. Will, who was just 6 months younger than him, kept asking him if he's alright. I felt sad for both Katie and Michael. At the campfire, Katie showed up, Miranda and her friends at her side. She looked tired and sad, but she hid it well. Michael kept looking at her and she kept looking at Michael. When their eyes met, they quickly looked away. I got to sleep and that night I didn't make any pranks, respecting those two and their sadness, even if I had a great prank planned for the Apollo cabin. "They need to rest right now, and a prank wouldn't help at all", I told myself as I was going to sleep. Connor was disappointed when I told him I'm not in the mood for pranks, but I guess he understood, because when I woke up, I heard no voice screaming "STOLLS!" in our direction, and that made me kind of sad.
