I'll fight for you~ Hinny (Part II)
Harry faced Riddle, both with a wand held in their hands. Harry's face was clearly confident. He knew what he was doing.
Riddle, however, didn't know how wrong he was if he thought he could beat Harry.
"You know, Potter." Riddle said, as they circled each other, predator versus predator. "I was quite surprised, when my spell backfired. Care to tell me what happened?"
"It would be my pleasure." Harry said coldly. "My mother sacrificed herself for me, and she created a shield that not even a killing curse could penetrate through. She had lost my dad. She wasn't going to lose me."
"How very sickeningly sweet of her. So what was the spell that saved you?"
"Something you would never understand, Tom Riddle. It was love that saved me. A mother's love for her child."
"Love..." Riddle tasted the word as he spoke. "But did love save her from dying? Did it save James Potter? Or did Dumbledore not die because you loved him? Love is more than worthless, Potter. Nobody will ever be happy with it. Not my mother and not yours."
Harry glanced back at Ginny. Her smile could light up any room.
He loved her.
"Nobody could be happy when loving? That's wrong. Love brings sadness. But it brings happiness to your heart too. Why would you understand? You never loved."
"I was conceived under the effects of a love potion that my father, a muggle, drank. So I hate anything to do with love." Riddle scoffed.
Harry reached out and interwined his fingers with Ginny's.
"That's why you're going to lose. Both ways. I have power over two things, Riddle. I can love. And secondly, the true owner of the Elder Wand is Draco Malfoy."
"I will deal with him once you are dead. It won't be any more difficult than killing you."
Harry smiled and twitched the wand in his hand. "I overpowered Draco weeks ago."
There was a deadly silence.
Then both the wizards opened their mouths and shouted a spell, working towards one goal: Killing the other.
"Avada Kedavra!"
"Expelliarmus!"
A ray emancipated from Harry's wand, meeting the green one from Riddle's. Harry had been right all along.
Riddle's wand flew high, its owner's jaws going slack, and the killing curse rebounded, striking not the enemy, but the caster itself.
Another silence followed, as people gazed in wonder as Lord Voldemort fell, his back arching, his last expression one of shock, as if he could not comprehend that he had taken his final breath. Harry was left gazing at his enemy's skull.
Then the cheers shook the hall as they all crowded around him, all willing to touch the Boy who Lived, the reason it was all over.
Everyone approached him, shaking his hand countless times and congratulating him.
He had quite a traumatic flashback to when he had first met Professor Quirrel, and everyone was doing the same.
Harry sought out after Ginny, who was lost in a crowd of family and friends.
He finally spotted her at the entrance, motioning him to come with her. They snuck out together, laughing as they walked towards the Black Lake.
Even the giant squid seemed intent on seeing him, and Harry shook it's tentacle about ten times until Ginny intervened, which he was honestly thankful for.
The sun shone and a cool wind blew, messing up his hair.
He smiled at Ginny, and she smiled back. The time seemed too important for words, so they gazed at each other.
"So..." Harry broke the silence. "Are you okay?"
Ginny half laughed, half cried. "Depends. If you're talking about being alive and with you, or being alive... Without F-F-Fred."
He wrapped his arms around her and whispered, "Ginny, it's okay, we'll get through it together. I promise, I'll allow nobody to ever hurt you. I promise."
She gazed at him, her brown eyes meeting his emerald green ones.
A smile tugged at the corner of her mouth as she whispered back, "And I promise those same things to you, Harry, because I love you as much as you love me and I will stand by you. Whatever happens."
Harry touched a stand of her fiery red hair and tucked it behind her ear. "That's right. I love you."
She smiled now, a bright, radiant smile that lit his entire being.
"Let's make that a promise."
She leaned in and touched her lips to his, gently as ever. He didn't resist, and responded by kissing her back.
"Ginny..."
"Harry..."
They spoke at the same time, pinkie fingers locked together and breaths mixing. They made a promise to keep forever.
"I'll fight for you."
