Jason's POV

Thalia woke me up that morning by shaking me vigorously. I groaned. 

"Go away," I grumbled. "No!" Thalia said. "You have to get ready, school's in an hour!" I've never heard Thalia so intent about getting ready for school. Something's wrong. I walked outside after getting changed into pants and a hoodie and started eating some porridge. Thalia was next to me, looking psyched. "What is with it with you?" I asked her. Thalia shook her head. "Nothing," she said. Her phone buzzed on the counter and I saw that it was a message from Luke. 

Luke. 

The person she hated the most. Was messaging her. Unless...

No. They couldn't be back together. Thalia hated him. So much. I shook my head. 

Thalia snatched her phone back. "Is Luke messaging you?" I asked her. "No," Thalia snapped. "You are," I realised. Thalia's cheeks were red. "Fine. Luke and I are back together," she admitted. 

I frowned. "Annabeth broke up with him?" Thalia nodded. "Yep." Thalia looked at me. "Now can we pleaseeee go to school?" she asked. I stopped eating my sludge. "Fine," I said. I pushed my food away and we went to school.

Luke was waiting for Thalia outside the school gate. He kissed her on the lips. She kissed him back. "Good to see you, Jason," Luke said, nodding. Jason nodded back, and continued on in the school. 

Jason saw Piper that morning. Her hair was out. Some of it was braided. She was wearing a pale pink shirt and a denim jacket and denim shorts. Usually denim on denim doesn't look good but on Piper...it looked great. 

She smiled in greeting at Jason. "Hi," she said. "Hey," Jason replied. His heart was beating 100 miles a minute. Annabeth walked to Piper. She looked happier, less tense. She was wearing a similar outfit to Piper. Jason shoved his bag in his locker and closed it. 

"Jace!" a voice exclaimed across the hallway. 

Percy. He gave Jason and the girls a lopsided grin. Annabeth's cheeks reddened. Then she saw Luke and Thalia holding hands. "I have to go," Annabeth said. "Come on Piper." The two girls left, leaving Percy and I together.

I looked at Percy. "Annabeth likes you," I told him. He blinked, looking completely oblivious. "No she doesn't," he said. "She does! She blushes whenever you're around. Do you like her?" Percy frowned and shook his head. "Nah. Come on. We'll get in trouble if we're late."

"So," Percy said to me during the most boring class ever, History. "Are you excited for the social?" I nodded. "I guess..." I answered, listening to the teacher drone on about the history of America. I rolled my eyes as the teacher dropped his pencil. "This is so boring," I grumbled. "Why can't we do something interesting for once?" Percy shrugged and yawned. His sea green eyes were full of amusement. I couldn't figure out why. "Have you gotten you're soulmate tattoo yet?" I asked him. He looked stunned. "Uh..yes. Have you?" I nodded.

 "Yep."

He looked at me and lowered his voice. "What's yours?" I inhaled. "Don't tell anyone. But...it's a feather. What's yours?" Percy looked flustered. "Um...well it's a book," he said quietly. I punched his arm gently. "You got a smart girl for a soulmate!" I exclaimed. He smiled. "And you have a bird," he replied smoothly. We both laughed a little to loud. Everyone turned towards us. Percy gave me his signature lopsided smile. 

"Wanna make a run for it?" 

"When have I ever said no to that?"

We both stood up and bolted when the teacher wasn't looking. "That was fun," Percy states. "What do you wanna do now?" I felt my phone buzz and I picked it up. 

"What is it?" Percy asked. 

It was a message from Piper. I ignored it and put it in my pocket. "Nothing. Come on." Percy and I walked through the hallways. Then soon enough, it was lunch. 

"Finally," Percy said, facing me. We were the first ones in the cafeteria. Soon enough, the students filed in. Percy smirked as people gawked at them. "Where were you guys?" Connor asked. "We escaped from history," Jason explained. Travis grinned. "We did that the other day. Good times." Everyone started to share stories and talk. I grinned.

When I was walking back to class, Piper pulled me aside. "Who's idea was it to skip out on class?" she asked, her expression fierce. I hesitated. "Percy," I said. "Figures," she replied. "He's a bad influence I you, you know?" She walked off and I blinked.

"Hey Jace," Percy said. "Come on. We have to hurry if we want to prank the teacher before he gets in the classroom." He grinned. "No," I said. Percy raised his eyebrows and his expression turned serious. "What do you mean?" he asked. "What I mean," I said. "Is that your a bad influence on me and I don't think we should be friends. I'm not joining in on any more of your pranks, Percy." Percy shook with anger. "Fine," he said, his expression still serious. "Be that way." He turned to Leo Valdez, Connor and Travis Stoll behind them and the four ran off to prank a teacher. 

I heard a voice behind me. "You did the right thing, you know?" It was Frank. I nodded. "I-I just think I've lost a friend." Frank nodded. "You have. But don't worry." I decided to make a new friend. I talked to Frank on the way to class. I glanced behind my back, hoping to see Percy, but all I saw was Luke and Thalia kissing. I shudder and continue on. 

Everything was going to be okay.
