Chat Noir jumped across Paris.

The city of love was veiled by silence, the last lights flickering to nothingness. Silent. Empty. So, so empty.

His hair was kissed by the chilling wind, messing up his blonde curls into a frenzy. His face was shadowed, starkly different from the one he had at Marinette's. He didn't want her to worry about him.

He chuckled mockingly at himself.

It was always about pleasing people to him. Since he was a child, he remembered doing his homework on his own, not wanting mother to worry about him. When mother disappeared, he had controlled his emotions in front of people, crying only when he was alone, not wanting Natalie to worry about him. Adrien knew very well that under the mask of the professional secretary she wore, Natalie had always cared about him deeply. She had even went as far as asking his father to sent him school.

School.

He remembered Marinette, his first friend, meeting her over a misunderstanding. Then Nino, Alya, Chloe, Sabrina, Kim, Alix, Nathaniel...so many names popped in his head. Then Ladybug...the sweet and confident person that had stolen his heart away. His flirting, her constant rejections, Kagami...

On remembering Kagami, he groaned. How will he tell her tomorrow?

Kagami was very surprised when Adrien asked whether he could meet her for coffee. Usually, their dates were limited to visiting 'Liberty', getting ice cream after fencing classes and hanging out in group.

She was very excited about it and decided to wear a dress today, unlike her usual self. The dress was red in colour and though simple, was elegant, like her.

She took her purse and went to the café they had decided on.

Adrien sat on a table next to the window, quietly staring out of it absentmindedly. Kagami sat on the chair across him and it was only then that he noticed her. He smiled slightly at her. She nodded in response.

Adrien fidgeted with the cup, unable to meet her eyes. Kagami sensed this and reached her hand out to hold his. He flinched at the contact and pulled his hand back with a jerk.

She looked at him surprised,"Adrien?"

He looked up at her, a hint of sadness lingering in the emerald eyes, "Kagami... I'm very very sorry...but.. but I hav-", he gulped, "we have to-to...um....to break up."

Before she could register what happened, he hurriedly continued," It's not your fault. You're great. I mean, actually, umm.. it's my decision. I'm sory Kagami. Really sorry... I hope you find someone else who can love you more than me. "

Kagami stood up, pushing the chair back in process," It's okay. I understand, Adrien. You finally realized that you were in love with Marinette, didn't you? And...best of luck about that, Adrien. Goodbye. "

If one listened carefully, a hint of emotions was audible in the monotonous voice.

Adrien widened his eyes, 'She thought I was in love with Marinette? No,no, that's not the case at all.'

He opened his mouth to say something when she interrupted,"Yes. We'll still be friends. Don't worry about that."

Her voice wavered and she broke down. When he went up to her, she ran out, without giving him any chance to say anything, tears streaming down her face.

Adrien stood there helplessly.

Kagami ran to the park and sat down on a bench. She tried to cover her face, from showing people how weak she was.

Her mother would have condemned her, if she could see her crying over a boy.

She looked up at the sound of a bell. Andre was here with the ice cream parlour today. She could see couples getting ice cream from Andre's. She suddenly spotted Marinette and Luka among them, giggling and feeding spoonfuls to each other.

She sighed.

Kagami always knew that Adrien loved Marinette, deep inside his heart. He may have always just dismissed the situation with ' she's just a friend', but Kagami could clearly see the love in his eyes when he spoke about her. She knew that Marinette loved him too. But maybe Marinette grew tired of waiting for him, getting rejected every time he said that she was just a friend.

Kagami also knew that the relationship between Luka and her would not work out, one way or other. Marinette couldn't love Luka like she did Adrien. She just couldn't, even if she tried her hardest.

She also knew that Adrien didn't break up with her for Marinette. There must have been some other reason. She just wanted him to realize his true feelings for the bluenette.

Kagami wanted him to be happy.

She laughed out loud at herself, tears still falling from her brown eyes.

Kagami never knew that there would be a time when she'd want someone else to be happy by sacrificing herself.

She remembered what her mother had once told her, "Always think about yourself first. There's no person more important than yourself. "

Kagami smiled sadly, Mother, I'm sorry. But I loved him too much to think about myself first.

She let go of herself.

Then, a flutter of wings.

And then, she blacked out.
