The void
Y/N's P.O.V
"So, some of you did really well, others, not so good." The teacher sighed, sifting through our tests.
"Aka, me." I mumbled.
"Hey, I'm sure that you did great. You're a lot smarter than you give yourself credit for." Stiles admitted. I looked at him.
"You really think that?" I smiled. He looked down and wet his lips with his tongue before looking back at me.
"Yeah. I do." He nodded, looking at me with those gorgeous whiskey eyes.
"Well, thank you for that, Stiles." I smiled. He returned it as the teacher passed us, placing our tests on our desks. I looked down and groaned at the big red-letter "D" on my paper.
"Read it and weep." I sighed, showing Stiles my paper.
"Oh, god. I suppose that that makes mine more painful." He spoke, giving me an sheepish smile as he showed me his paper, marked with a red "A".
"No, it's okay, I'm happy for you." I smiled. He returned it before his eyes widened slightly.
"I have an idea. How about I tutor you?" he asked. I gulped at the thought of being alone with Stiles.
"I don't know." I sighed.
"Aw, come on, it'll be fun. We could study for a couple hours, then we could watch a movie or something." He shrugged. My lips curled into a smile.
"What, watch a movie like we would for a date?" I smirked, biting my lip. He smiled and chuckled as he looked down before looking back at me.
"Yeah. The movie part can be our second date." He smiled. I returned it.
"Great." I nodded.
"So, do you want to come over after school today?" he asked.
"I'd love to." I smiled again. He returned it as the bell went and we gathered up our stuff.
Stiles opened his front door and let us in.
"Dad, are you home?" he called out. He sighed as he got no response.
"Well, I guess that we're alone." He chuckled slightly, following me up his stairs.
"What about your mom?" I asked. He looked down.
"My mom died when I was ten." He nodded. My eyes widened.
"Oh, Stiles, I'm so sorry." I winced. He shrugged and gave me a small smile as he led me into his room.
"It's okay, you didn't know." He reassured, tossing his backpack onto his bed.
Stiles and I sat cross-legged on his bed, facing each other and doing notes. I looked at Stiles, smiling to myself as he absentmindedly poked himself in the jaw with the rubber end of his pencil.
"Stiles, can I ask you something?" I asked. He looked up.
"Sure." He nodded. I looked down.
"What happened to your mom?" I asked. His face immediately lost all expression as he looked at me. I gulped.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-."
"No, no, it's okay, it's just a difficult story." He shook his head.
"Don't tell me if you don't want to." I reassured. He sighed and shook his head.
"Come here." He spoke, moving all of our textbooks out of the way and pulling me closer so that our knees were touching.
"What are you doing, Stiles?" I gulped.
"I've got an idea. If you touch me, you can see my past, right?" he asked, looking timidly at me. I gulped.
"Um, yeah, yeah, I can." I nodded.
"Okay." He returned the nod before gently taking my hand. My heart skipped a beat at the feeling of Stiles touching me. I gulped as he looked straight into my eyes before gently placing my hand against his cheek, his hand still on top of mine. His skin was as smooth as it looked, the warmness of it contrasting to my cool skin.
"Stiles, are you sure? Because what I see, you'll see too. Do you want to relive that?" I asked quietly. He looked down.
"I relive it every day." He admitted before looking back at me. I gulped and nodded.
"Do it, Y/N. Everyone else who means something in my life knows what happened. You should too." He reassured. I took a shaky breath and nodded before letting my eyes flutter shut.
I stood in the Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital and looked around. I gulped as I saw Melissa, Scott's mom, behind reception, on the phone to someone.
"Tell him that he needs to get here now. Stiles is in there with her now but she's not got long left. Tell Stilinski that if he wants to say goodbye, he needs to leave." She sighed. My eyes widened at her words. I walked through the hospital, gasping as every so often, someone would walk right through me. I turned my head to one door and looked at the file that read "Claudia Stilinski". I gulped as I looked into the room to see a woman lying in the bed, her hand in the boy's who was sat by the bed. I slowly opened the door and walked in.
"Look after your dad, Stiles. He'll be good to you, and he'll try his best to take care of you." She nodded. The boy returned it, tears streaming down his face. I choked at the sight of the younger Stiles so upset.
"I love you, mischief. I love you so much." She nodded, weakly raising his hand and kissing it before closing her eyes. The boy bowed his head as the heart monitor flat-lined. Tears started to roll down my cheeks as the door opened again and Melissa walked in.
"Stiles..." she mumbled. He nodded and slowly let go of his mother's hand before standing up. He slowly walked to Melissa before hugging her tightly. A tear left her eye as she returned the hug, gently stroking his hair.
"Wait out here for your dad. I'm so sorry, Stiles." She choked before leading him outside. I gulped, following him to where he was.
"Oh, Stiles." I choked before I started to disappear, coming out of the vision.
I choked as my eyes shot open and tears rolled down my cheeks. I stared at Stiles, who was just sat there looking at me, with his hand still over mine that was against his cheek. I choked more as I saw a tear roll down his face too.
"Stiles, I...I don't know what to say." I mumbled. He nodded and gave me a small smile.
"Yeah. That's a pretty standard reaction." He chuckled but it faded quickly. My eyebrows furrowed.
"She called you mischief. Why?" I asked. He chuckled and looked at the bed sheets.
"My real name is Mieczyslaw. It was my grandfather's name and my dad thought that he was a great dad to my mom, so he wanted to call me that. Only issue was that the name is hard enough for a grown man to pronounce, so obviously when I was little, I couldn't say it. I came out with mischief instead. Everyone thought that it was pretty suitable given what I'm like, so my mom called me that." He nodded, making me smile.
"I like it." I reassured. He smiled and nodded. I leant forward and hugged him tightly, wrapping my arms around his neck. He returned the hug, resting his chin on my shoulder. I pulled back but Stiles stopped me as I passed his face so that our lips were only an inch apart. Stiles looked down at mine before gently cupping my cheek. He gulped before starting to lean in. I gasped as I pulled away suddenly, my eyes clouding over. Stiles's eyes widened.
"Y/N?" he gulped.
"Scott's in trouble."
Stiles and I ran to his jeep and climbed in quickly.
"Tell me exactly what you saw." Stiles demanded as he started the jeep's engine and started to drive.
"I don't know exactly, it's something that I've never seen before. He was fighting this...thing..." I gulped. Stiles looked at me.
"A thing? That's not very specific, what did it look like?" he asked, looking back at the road. I sighed.
"It's hard to explain...it was dressed like, I don't know, a World War Two soldier and its head was covered in old bandages, with only a gap for its sharp teeth." I described. Stiles gulped.
"Well, that's sufficiently terrifying." He nodded as he pulled up to mine and Scott's estate.
"We better hurry, Scott was losing." I gulped. Stiles returned it as he pulled up to Scott's house and we rushed out.
"Y/N, wait." I turned around and my eyebrows furrowed as Stiles grabbed a steel bat from the jeep. He saw me staring.
"What? He's got claws, you can kill a guy by touch, I need some sort of defence too." He scoffed. I sighed and nodded as he ran up the path and opened the door.
"Scott?!" he yelled out as I appeared next to him. I screamed as Scott flew across the hallway.
"What the-." Stiles gasped as he put his arm across my stomach and pushed me behind him.
"Stiles?" Scott groaned as he landed against the wall.
"And me." I gulped.
"Guys, run!" Scott yelled. Stiles looked at me before his eyes shot to the thing walking out of Scott's kitchen. My eyes widened as it was the creature that I had seen in my vision.
"What are you?" Stiles asked, raising his bat. The thing smirked, bearing its teeth as it walked towards us.
"I am your worst nightmare." He whispered before grabbing Stiles. I screamed as he threw him across the room, making his back collide against the wall. He landed on the ground with a thump and groaned.
"Y/N!" he gasped. My eyes widened as the thing wrapped its bandaged hand around my neck and lifted me up before pinning me to the wall. My eyes widened further as I gasped for breath.
"Let her go!" Stiles yelled.
"The void doesn't let people go." The thing hissed. I wrapped my hand around his and my eyes widened as the contact brought on a vision.
I gasped as I came back and looked at the thing that still had me pinned to the wall. Suddenly, I heard a roar as Scott ripped him off of me, making me fall to the ground as I coughed and spluttered.
"Y/N, are you okay?" Stiles asked as he rushed over to me and wrapped his arms around me. I nodded as I looked up at the thing, who was fighting Scott.
"I know what it is." I spoke, looking at him. Stiles looked at the thing before looking back at me.
"What is it?" he asked. I gulped.
"It's a void."
Stiles sighed as we walked back into his room and I collected up my stuff.
"Well, considering that we were almost just killed by whatever the hell a void is, I think that that was a pretty good second date." I chuckled. Stiles returned it, but it was only halfhearted as he stuck one hand in his jean pockets and scratched the back of his neck with the other.
"I'm sorry, it wasn't even a proper second date to begin with." He mumbled. I looked up and sighed as he looked down at the floor.
"Hey." I mumbled, walking over to him. He gave me a small smile and dropped his hand as he looked down at me.
"I had a great time. Spending time with you is enough for me, I don't care what we do." I reassured. He smiled and nodded before looking down.
"There was one thing that I did want to do." He gulped, looking timidly at me.
"Oh, yeah? What's that?" I asked. He gulped again as he moved slightly closer to me so that our faces were only an inch apart. He cupped my face before pressing our lips together. My eyes widened but I quickly kissed back, holding his face as his hands moved to my waist. I had waited for this since the day that I had met Stiles. Our lips moulded perfectly together and his hands somehow fit perfectly over my curves, as if they were made to hold me. I broke the kiss as I needed to breathe, but kept my lips close as I slowly opened my eyes. Stiles's eyes fluttered open and he stared down at me. I gave him a small smile.
"I've been waiting since the day that I met you to do that." He whispered. My smile widened as I cupped his cheek and pressed our lips together again.
Stiles pulled up to my house and stopped the jeep before looking at me.
"I guess that I'll see you tomorrow." He smiled, looking at me. I bit my lip.
"Yeah, you will." I nodded before leaning over the clutch. I cupped his cheek and pressed our lips together, closing my eyes. He returned it eagerly, his eyes also closed as his hand rested on my waist. I broke the kiss but Stiles leant forward, joining our lips again and making me laugh.
"I need to go." I chuckled against his lips.
"No, you don't." he smiled, shaking his head.
"I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" I smiled, leaning back enough to rest my hand against his chest. Stiles chuckled and nodded, looking at my lips as he gently placed his hand over mine.
"Just one question before you go." He nodded. I returned it. He smiled.
"Can I call you my girlfriend?" he asked. My lips curled into a smile as I slowly nodded. Stiles returned the smile before leaning forward and kissing me again. I returned it, smiling into it before breaking the kiss.
"I'll see you tomorrow." I whispered, pecking his lips once more before climbing out of the jeep. I looked over my shoulder and smiled at Stiles before disappearing into my house.
Stiles's P.O.V
Stiles watched with a small smile on his lips as Y/N disappeared into her house. He looked back at the steering wheel and he gulped as his hands were shaking slightly.
"Calm down, Stiles. You just kissed the girl of your dreams." He mumbled before smiling.
"I just kissed the girl of my dreams, who is now my girlfriend, go me!" He laughed.
"Go you!" Stiles screamed and jumped as Scott appeared at the jeep window.
"Dude, what the hell, you nearly gave me a freaking heart attack." He scoffed, holding his chest.
"Sorry, man. Is Y/N okay?" he asked. Stiles smiled.
"Oh, yeah. She is." He nodded. Scott's eyebrows furrowed as he smiled.
"Something happened between you, didn't it?" he chuckled. Stiles nodded.
"I kissed her." He admitted.
"And she didn't reject you?" Scott asked.
"Wow, okay, nice boost of confidence there. But no, she didn't. She even said yes to being my girlfriend." Stiles smiled. Scott's eyes widened.
"Aw, dude, that's great!" he laughed.
"Thanks." He smiled.
"However, I did come here with bad news." He winced. Stiles sighed.
"Hit me." He mumbled.
"I told Allison about the thing that attacked us and she had a look in the bestiary for it. Turns out that a void is an evil Japanese spirit whose only purpose is to possess someone and to wreak havoc." He admitted. Stiles groaned.
"Of course. Because why wouldn't we want to add a freaking evil bandage spirit to the list?" He scoffed.
"Tell me about it." He sighed. Stiles returned it before starting the jeep again.
"I'm going to head home now. See you tomorrow." He nodded.
"See you. I'm glad that you kissed Y/N." Scott smiled.
"So am I." Stiles returned before starting to drive away.
