The first assassination attempt

I lay on my front on Stiles's bed, looking at the textbooks in front of me as Stiles rested on his elbow next to me.

"I'm bored." I huffed, shutting the book. Stiles looked at me and chuckled.

"Well, homework doesn't have a great track record for being fun." He mumbled.

"I want to do something else." I smirked before straddling Stiles and pushing him down.

"Y/N-." I smashed our lips together, cutting him off. He returned the kiss, cupping my cheek as he kissed back. He pulled away.

"As much as I love where this is going, we're here for me to help you study, not to get laid." He sighed before gently rolling over so I landed on the bed next to him. I returned his sigh.

"But the work is boring." I whined.

"I know, baby, but your work is important. How about we do another hour, and then we can do what you want to. Lots of times." He smirked, making me laugh.

"Deal." I nodded. He returned it before kissing my cheek. I looked at my notes and sighed.

"None of this makes sense. It looks like some sort of alien language." I sighed. Stiles chuckled as he looked at it.

"It's only algebra and it's not-." He stopped speaking and his smile slowly dropped as he looked closer at the notes.

"Stiles, what is it?" I asked.

"Whose notes are these?" he mumbled.

"They're mine, I just don't understand them." I sighed.

"You don't understand them, because this isn't algebra." He spoke, looking at me. My eyes widened.

"What?" I scoffed. He sat up and grabbed my book before sifting through the pages.

"None of this is algebra. It looks like computer code or something." He mumbled. My eyes widened.

"H-how did I write that, I don't know how to write code." I gulped.

"Apparently you do. Do you remember writing this?" he asked, looking at me. I shook my head.

"No. I mean, I had a vision during math class on Thursday, so I assume that I wrote it during that." I spoke.

"What did the vision show?" he asked. I sighed.

"It was a list of something, but it was blurry, so I couldn't see it properly. But it was a long list." I nodded. Stiles sighed.

"Okay. Well, we need to work out what this is code for. Maybe Lydia has also written something like this." He spoke, making me nod.

"If not, maybe she can shed some light on what it might mean." I spoke.

"Let's hope so." Stiles nodded, making me sigh and return it as I looked back down at the code.

I walked into the empty girls' locker room and looked around for Lydia.

"Y/N." I turned around and smiled as she walked towards me.

"Hey, you're just the person I wanted to see." I smiled.

"What for?" she asked.

"I need to show you something." I nodded as I dug into my bag and got out my notebook.

"Stiles and I were doing math homework yesterday, and he realised that the reason my notes weren't helping was because they're not algebra." I spoke. Lydia's eyebrows furrowed as I handed her the open notebook.

"I thought maybe you'd experienced the same thing." I sighed. She looked at me.

"Experienced what exactly? What are we talking about?" she asked. I tapped my fingertip against the page.

"That's not algebra. It's code." I nodded. Her eyes widened as she read it.

"Oh my god." She mumbled.

"What, Lydia?" I asked. She sighed and looked at me.

"I've been writing code too, without even realising it. If my calculations are correct, which they always are, my code follows on from this." She admitted. My eyes widened.

"You're kidding." I scoffed.

"Nope. Your code is obviously the start of something, and mine is the end of it." She nodded.

"The main issue is that I don't know what the code is for." I sighed.

"I don't know either. It can't be anything good. Have you had any more visions about it?" she asked, leaning against the locker by me. I sighed and shook my head as I looked at her. She returned the sigh and nodded.

"So, this could be code for literally anything, and we're no closer to finding out what it is." She stated.

"Basically." I nodded, making her chuckle and shake her head.

"I've got to go, I have math class. Maybe the teacher can shed some light on it." She spoke.

"Okay. See you later." I smiled. She gave me a small smile and gently squeezed my arm before leaving the locker room. I sighed as I turned around to my locker and just rested my hands against it, thinking for a moment.

"Bet you didn't see this coming." My eyes widened as a piece of wire looped around my neck and was pulled, making me gasp. I started to choke as I wrapped my hands around the wire and tried to break it but it stayed strong. I was turned around to face the girl holding the wire. She smirked as she pulled back so I was pinned against the locker as I continued to gasp for breath and try to break the wire.

"No point trying to break it. This stuff is strong." She chuckled. I choked again as my lungs were getting tighter. I felt my eyes turning red, making the girl smirk.

"A freaking korrigan, wow. You know, you're worth more than the alpha. That's impressive. You must be a pretty powerful korrigan if you're worth more than the true alpha." She smirked. Tears started to fall from my eyes as she tightened the wire, making me gasp more.

"W-why are you doing this?" I gasped.

"Because I want to get paid." She cooed. I felt my eyes burning red as I gathered up the last bit of strength I had as I rose my shaky hand and placed it against her chest. She looked down at it and her eyebrows furrowed.

"What are you doing-." Energy surged through my body and to my fingertips, making her fly back. I collapsed on the floor as I coughed and spluttered, pulling the wire off me. The girl collided with the opposite wall and fell to the floor, making her groan. She looked at me and growled.

"You're not going to come quietly? Fine by me." She scowled, pulling out another wire and walking towards me. I choked and shook my head, too tired to fight again.

"Y/N!" I looked up and sighed in relief as Stiles and Scott ran into the locker room. Stiles's eyes widened as he saw me on the floor.

"The alpha too? Fine by me." The girl smirked, snapping her wire as she walked towards them.

"Stiles, go get Y/N." Scott growled as he turned. Stiles gulped and nodded before running to me.

"Stiles." I choked.

"I'm here, I'm here." He reassured as he picked me up in his arms.

"Scott, be careful." I croaked.

"He's okay." Stiles nodded, gently moving a strand of hair out of my face.

"Woah!" Stiles yelled as the girl flew across the room and collided with the lockers, making Stiles scramble back with me still in his arms. Scott walked towards us and grabbed the girl's throat before smacking her head against the locker, rendering her unconscious.

"You okay, Y/N?" Scott asked.

"I think so." I nodded, relishing the feeling of Stiles cradling me.

"What happened?" Stiles asked.

"She just started strangling me. She knew what I was and she said something about me being worth more than the alpha, whatever that means. She said she was doing it because she wanted to get paid." I gulped. Stiles and Scott looked at each other.

"Maybe there's some kind of price on our heads then. Has anything like this happened to Lydia or Isaac?" Scott asked.

"Not as far as I know. But this definitely isn't good." I choked. Stiles sighed and looked at Scott as he pulled me further into his body.

I sat in the back of the ambulance, a blanket hanging on my shoulders as I waited for Stilinski.

"Y/N." I looked up and gave Stiles a small smile as him and Stilinski walked to me. Stiles gave me a small smile as he sat next to me and pulled me into his side.

"You okay, Y/N?" Stilinski asked.

"Yeah, just a bit shaken up." I nodded, looking down at my hands.

"That's understandable. Can you tell me what happened?" he asked, getting his pen and notepad out.

"Lydia had just left the locker room and this girl came in. She knew what I was, and she was talking about the amount she'd get paid for killing me. She said I was worth more than the alpha." I spoke. Stiles looked at me before looking at his dad.

"That sounds a lot like an assassination attempt." Stiles scoffed. Stilinski sighed and nodded before writing something down.

"Whatever is going on here is dangerous. By the sounds of it, someone is trying to kill you, Scott and Lydia for a major payday. I don't want any of you out after 10, okay? All three of you have a curfew, as do all other supernatural beings in town, you understand?" he asked.

"Yes." I nodded. He returned it and put his notebook away.

"Go home and get some rest. You've been through a lot." He spoke, making me nod before walking away. I sighed and looked at Stiles as tears pricked my eyes.

"Someone's trying to kill me." I choked. He gulped.

"I won't let them. I promise." He nodded before pulling me into his side and making me rest my head on his shoulder.
