thirty-one
3rd person
It had been a few days now, since Yoongi had started to feel this dull ache somewhere in his chest and he just couldn't get ahold of where it was coming from.
It was a strange ache, not even painful but more like the feeling of that there was something. Being hard to explain, he didn't thought that much about it at the beginning but when the blonde haired boy from the grocery store stared at him with wide eyes, instead of scanning the articles, Yoongi started to realize that there was something more behind it.
The question was what.
"Yes?", the raven hair said while waving in front of the younger's face
Latter blinked and a frown appeared on his flawless forehead, that was making Yoongi question why he had to fight with acne in this age, while this boy didn't even seem to know that a thing like that existed.
"Oh right, I'm sorry s-sir.", the blonde one said has he realized what he was supposed to do, tone leaking a sudden hint of sadness - or was it disappointment?
Yoongi didn't quite know, but again he wasn't the best to read peoples emotions.
This time the blonde cashier, whom had appeared so overly cheerful the day they met, didn't chime a happy 'thank you' but gave him a small smile that managed to cheer the older up anyways.
He was about to stroll out of the store with a content smile, when he heard a nervous high-pitched voice calling behind him, "Wait!"
The twenty-four years old turned around to face the young cashier again, "Yeah?"
The boy fiddled with his hands, not looking Yoongi in the eyes, "W-What's your name?"
A soft smile appeared on the older's lips, "I'm Yoongi."
The other broke in to an adorable eye smile, "I'm Jimin."
Jimin
"Bye Yoongi!"
The boy said, all cheerful again.
Somehow, the way his name rolled off Jimin's tongue only worsened this ache in Yoongi's chest.

Jimin felt like crying.
Out of all people, his soulmate of course had to be fucking straight.
The boy pulled his hair in an attempt to restrain himself from bursting in to tears in the middle of the train. Everything would've been so perfect.
Jimin knew Yoongi was his soulmate, the moment their eyes met at the counter, and he had never imagined this to feel so damn good. It usually was like that; soulmates recognized each other at the very first sight. It did happen that one of them does not realize it at the first moment, though the realization would always hit a few hours later.
But even at their second encounter, Yoongi didn't feel it. He had been quite nice but that had been all.
And Jimin knew that there was only one reason why: His soulmate was - other than him - not gay, means he didn't feel the same attraction Jimin felt towards him. The nineteen years old never heard of such a thing before.
A soulmate who doesn't have the same sexual orientation? That sounded ridiculous to him.
It had been a few days since they had first met, and the only thing jimin could do was hoping that Yoongi would come to the grocery store again, but although this did happen nothing changed in their current situation, besides Jimin now knowing his name.
"Yoongi"
Jimin hated how this name coming to of his mouth sounded so god damn beautiful, he wanted to say it out loud a thousand more times, shouting it, so that everyone could hear the name of his fucking soulmate, whispering it in to Yoongi's ear while they-
The boy felt tears well up in his eyes and he bit his lips, trying to hold the warm salty drops back while rushing in to the apartment he shared with his two roommates.
Luckily they weren't home yet, so they didn't saw how a sobbing Jimin threw off his shoes and stormed in his room.
Why did you have to come to the store? I was doing great without you.
Now, I won't be able to ever forget a man who won't love me. You ruined everything.
"God dammit, Park Jimin!", he shouted in to the emptiness of his room.
A little strengthless, he slumped down onto his bed and closed his eyes. University together with his other jobs was exhausting, but the fact that his thoughts now only concentrated on the wish of being united with his soulmate was really too much.
Jimin rubbed his eyes tiredly, wishing that he could just sleep till next day's afternoon, but sadly there was still studying to do. Was this the price for getting perfect grades through out your whole school time?
Yoongi
When he was in elementary school, they had been taught how the soulmate bond was the most beautiful thing that could happen to a human. Sadly, this was not true at all.
Sadly, reality was hard and unfair, and there was not such a thing like the typical fairytale-romance.
Jimin dried his tears and got up, wrapping his small hands around his body, due to the heater in his apartment still not working.
He would just wait and look how everything would come out. That's what he was good at after all.

As you may have noticed, this story called 'soulmate' is not just about Y/N and her soulmate.
Do you ship Yoonmin?
